Two Months after Summer Ended
Aaron felt Percy and Sally before he ever greeted them at the front door of their apartment. "Hiya Percy." He said, smiling at his friend with warmth. Percy had grown even more handsome in their small time apart, beaming at him with just as much warmth as Aaron was giving. Sally was behind him, with brown hair streaked with grey and stunning eyes that seemed to flow from color to color, mostly, greys and blues. Her aura was potent, and not entirely human, rich and told tales of water and life itself. She was no demigoddess, but she was by no means entirely mortal. "Wow, no wonder Percy is so strong, Miss Sally... your not human either."
She blinked, eyes wide. " What?"
"Mom's not mortal?"
"No, I think she is a legacy, the descendant of a deity. I am guessing a Naiad, she feels like one only diluted." He focused hard, and pressed into her aura with his magic. " I could cast a spell, to see where your line gained it's mysticism. My grimoire, the one Persephone gave me, it has that spell in it since bloodlines are so vital to necromantic magics. You know, channeling your forebearers and all that." He smiled at them. "Can I come in?"
Sally nodded, a bright smile on her face. "Please, Percy told me all about you! We have company, I hope that is okay." She led him in, he hugged Percy and kissed his temple before moving into the lovely place. It was well-decorated and comfortable, oozing love. "So, why are you here, kiddo?"
"Oh to cast spells to protect your home, I want Percy safe. I just learned some wicked protection spells, my grimoire even if they focus mostly on necromantic magics and nature magic, it has some warding spells for general use though keeping in pattern it draws on nature for it's creation. I think my Patron wanted me to be safe in any case, not just in those ones."
Sally gaped. "You mean you can protect him... without..."
"Without endangering him by marrying an abusive ass, yes." She cringed and Percy scowled. "Sorry, Percy, but your mom hurt you for mostly her own desire to be around you. I am allowed to be upset by that."
Percy went to huff, but his mom stopped him. "I did screw up, baby, he is allowed to be mad at me... I want to be better, do better, and this is a start. First though, you should meet Tyson." Sally said. "He is the reason Percy has been safe thus far."
"What?" Percy asked, confused.
Sally just sighed and they moved into the next room, where a baby cyclopes was waiting for them eating peanut butter sandwiches and looking adorable with his brown eye and aura of pure love. Aaron never felt a moment of fear, just adoration.
"Hello, handsome!" He rushed over and hugged the creature, who hugged him back. "My name is Aaron, and I am your new friend, okay?"
Tyson beamed. "My name is Tyson, new friend!" he squeezed him hard, until his ribs ached.
"You are so handsome, with that big beautiful brown eye, and that soft hair. You are going to be a real looker, you know that?" Tyson flushed hard.
"Eye?" Percy stuttered out.
"He's a cyclops Percy, you really need to see through the Mist better, use the techniques I taught you."
Percy focused, turning to Tyson, stepping back in shock. "How did I never notice?" There was only shock in his eyes and tone, no contempt.
"A lack of focus, but now I need to get started. Tyson, hun, I need your blood to cast this spell so you can enter this house. Okay? I am spelling it to keep Percy safe."
Tyson's hand shook as he handed him his hand. "Will it hurt?"
"Only a little, I need only a tiny droplet, okay?" Tyson nodded and Aaron pricked him with his silver dagger. Mixing the blood into a potion. "This I spent the last two weeks on, adding magic bit by bit into it. I plan on mass producing it so we can keep all the demigods safe in their houses. Now, I need to paint sigils on the walls, don't worry Sally they will fade once the spell is cast."
She nodded. "What do you need us to do?"
"Unhook the smoke alarm, I will be using a smoking piece of sage to bless the space. Not Greek magic, but it is magical. Persephone's magical instructions include magic from any plant type so... anyway, the goal is to purify the space, then use the herb and rowan and blood mixture to draw on Rowan's intense mystical powers to create a resonate area of mystical protection that we solidify with the sigils from the Language of Magic. I will then invoke the essence of Nature, not unlike a Saytrs blessing, and use the magic I already imbued into the potion to cast the spell."
"Let's get started then!"
And so they did, with Aaron painting sigils onto their walls, doorways, windows and floors, It took over three hours. He chatted with Percy as he did so, on his life, on Tyson and his time. He ended up convincing Tyson to move into Sally's home, which took a lot of effort.
The most important thing however was this. "When was the last time you trained, Percy?"
Percy grinned sheepishly. "A few weeks ago."
"Perseus Jackson!" Sally chided. "Not a single moment of Skateboarding until you catch up on your training, I will not lose you because you were being Lazy!"
Aaron chuckled. "I'll come and visit a few times a week for a spar, twice maybe, and I will also help you see through the Mist. I have gotten pretty good with a blade, not on your level, but enough to give you some sort of challenge I hope. Still, you should be coming to camp every so often to train, bring Tyson and have him train as well. I"ll vouch for him."
Percy nodded, red faced. "Are you almost done?"
"Once I cast the spell then I need to rest, this will be exhausting. Sally, can you drive me to camp after this?"
She nodded. "I would be honored, you are keeping us safe... it is the least I could do."
Aaron stood then, and raised his hands, breathing in the magic already present in the home. " Rowan et sanguis, spatium sacrum et energia positiva, resonant et efficiunt campum energiae quae vim negativam repellit! Hoc spatium incolumem serva, purum redde!"
Each sigil burned a bright purple before fading away, but only after rippling throughout the space, smashing into them all and creating a sense of space. Aaron swayed, falling into Tyson's arms, his nose bleeding and his eyes bloodshot. "That took more out of me than I thought... nighty night." And Darkness took him into it's warm embrace...
Chapter end, tell me what you think in the reviews.
This was a joy to write, it sets things up really well.
Rowan and blood, sacred space and positive energy, resonate and create a field of energy that repels negative influence! Keep this space safe, render it pure!
Love, your Ninja Overlord,
Mika.
