It felt like I was flying through the air, and then I felt my feet touch solid ground. I was astonished. When the Masters had said that they were banishing us, I had just thought that they were throwing us into empty space, where we would float around aimlessly for the rest of our lives, but there was no way my feet were tricking me.
Gradually the blackness fell away from my vision and I looked around in amazement. My friends and I were standing on an island. The island was surrounded by empty air however I could see two other small islands in the distance. "Where are we?" the girl, I think her name was Felice, asked. I glanced around again. The island was rocky and no plants grew on its surface.
Before I could see much else suddenly a boy flew up and landed on our island. I blinked. There were other people here? A girl with black hair and dark blue eyes soon joined the boy. "Hello! So good to meet you," the boy said with a big grin. "I'm Carlson, and this is Lotti," he pointed at the girl, who narrowed her eyes at us. "So I'm guessing you lot got banished too, huh?" We nodded. "Well, you must've been really troublesome if you got sent here." "What did you guys do?" Felice asked. "Well, my friends and I accidentally created a gigantic hole in the protective barrier surrounding Alyncia when we tried to get through to the human world, and Lotti and her friends, her team, tried to kill Master Chronos." Carlson shrugged, like this was no big deal. We all swapped glances. "What did you do?" he asked. "W-we'd rather not talk about it," Catrin said slowly. Lotti looked disappointed. She flew into the air and said, "I think I'm done here. I have more interesting people to talk to." Carlson watched her go, before turning back to us. "I could show you around if you like," he offered. Catrin hesitated, before nodding. "Sure," she said. "Um, before we do anything, how do you work this thing?" Felice asked. She was fiddling with her jet-pack. "Here," Carlson swooped over and quickly pressed on some different parts of her jet-pack. Finally Felice slowly rose into the air. She pressed on her jet-pack again and managed to land clumsily on the edge of the island.
We all got Carlson to show us how to use our jet-packs and soon everyone was swooping around like graceful dragons. Well, maybe not as graceful. I did almost crash into my friends a few times, but we don't talk about that. Then I flew over to one of the strange colourful crystals that was floating in midair. There were several crystals floating all over the place. They were all different colours, and I reached out to finger the one I had flown up to. Then I turned to Carlson. "What are these?" I asked gesturing at the crystal. Carlson shrugged. "To be honest, none of us are really sure." I frowned, but didn't comment further. "So, I heard you mention that Lotti has a team of friends. Does her team have a name?" Carlson nodded at Catrin's question. "Yeah. Lotti's team is called the Rainers and my team is called the Jurdens." Jake frowned. "The Jurdens? Why the Jurdens?" "I guess we just like the sound of it," Carlson told him. We explored a bit more, but there wasn't much to see. Mostly there was just empty air, but we did manage to befriend the other teams. As I sat on our island that night, I gazed out at the colourful crystals and at the other two islands. I decided that living here wouldn't be as bad as I'd thought.
