Ch.26: School Days Part 2

As the doors had been locked when I toured the school in July, I had not seen the cafeteria yet. I was pretty curious though. Was Lunch a combination of things, where you had options to choose from? Or was it a mandated lunch day after day?

I could only smile as it turned out to be the former. At the front of the room was a huge soup and salad bar, a pizza station, a Mexican station, and even a substation. There was also an area for those with special diets, which I loved.

Twilight made her way to the salad station, and I did to the substation. Adagio chuckled as she followed me.

Getting a Turkey and cheese, also with some Baked Fritos, I followed Twilight to her table, waving at Aria as she went to sit with her sisters. At Twilight's table, along with us, sat Lyra, Bon Bon, Sunset, and Flash, along with Fluttershy. I could only smile, the conversation good.

"Enjoying your classes, everyone?" Flash asked. Bon Bon giggled, talking about her Art class. Apparently, the teacher was a hippie. I smiled as I heard Fluttershy was in Drama class.

"We're doing the play Fame this year" she said, taking a bite of an apple.

My eyes almost bugged out at this. "Whoa. I did that my seventh-grade year!"

"Who did you play?" Sunset asked.

"Montgomery. Love him as a character."

"I got you" Lyra said. "Someone trying to find their place in the world."

Oh, how I was in the same boat.

Creative Writing was much fun. The teacher, a lady named Ms. Shy, was noticeably quiet but kept your attention. The class laughed as I told everyone my favorite stories were Romantic.

"I bet that's because of Aria" one student quipped.

I shook my head. "I just like them. That's all."

After the experience, it was soon time for the class I had been so apprehensive about. Gym.

On Earth, I was an okay athlete. I enjoyed Baseball and hated playing Football so much. Hockey was hit or miss, and do not get me started on Dodgeball.

Entering the gigantic room, I spotted Twilight, Aria, Snips and Snails, among others. As you do, I headed to the locker room to change. Among the clothes in my wardrobe had come an immaculate sports jersey and shorts, both of which I was wearing.

I stepped out of the locker room, seeing Rainbow Dash enter, a tad late. Then, the office door opened.

"Afternoon class!" Spitfire grinned as she saw all of us. We greeted her back. Spitfire walked down the line we had formed, before spotting me.

"Nice to finally meet you, David. Make sure to work hard to impress Aria" she smirked knowingly. The class laughed, before stopping as Spitfire glared.

"There is nothing wrong with wanting to impress your lady" she said.

After going through the syllabus, she went down the line, putting everyone into pairs.

"Today is jogging day. I want to see where everyone is on their fitness. One things gotta be known though- I expect effort. If, one day, you need to take it easier, just let me know. You don't try, I show no mercy." She said, looking directly at Snips and Snails. Seemed like she had them as students before.

For my part, I had been paired with Rainbow Dash. Internally, I groaned. I knew she was quite fast, and even though I was pretty fit, no way was I keeping up with her. Rainbow smiled.

"Hey, just go your own pace, David."

I did not notice that Aria and Twilight were paired together.

Whoa, would that be a future pairing.

Fifteen minutes into the jog, me and Rainbow had completed eleven laps. Not to brag, but that was above the rest of the class. Rainbow smiled. "At the end of this, I want ya to get on my shoulders. I wanna show you something."

"O-kay?" I went, Twilight rolling her eyes behind us. Aria grinned. There was an advantage to her being behind us that she enjoyed.

"Okay class" Spitfire said, clapping her hands. "Cool down lap now." She said, noticing me climbing on Rainbow's shoulders. "Actually, wait a minute."

What I experienced next was the most amazing yet terrifying thing I had ever done to that point. As Rainbow SPRINTED, I could only hold on. Though the thing was only 50 seconds, it felt much quicker. I climbed of RD, speechless.

"Why can't Aria fly him around?" a student asked.

As Aria confronted her, I could only grin. School had been wonderful!

I knew not that Friday would bring a conversation I so urgently wanted.
