Byakuya could feel the daggers impaling his back, which only widened his grin. Kagome seemed lovely, but it seemed like his dear chef needed a little bit of help in this area. The longer he could keep her around, the more likely he could turn things in Sesshoumaru's favour.

Regardless of how quickly the daiyoukai was digging his grave.

"What do you do, Kagome? Are you a food critic? I can assure you this place is the best," Byakuya said, Plating the tart with a flourish. "The desserts are exceptional, but Sesshoumaru runs a tight ship."

She raised an eyebrow but accepted the offering. "I'm a med student, actually. I'm hoping to get my Ph.D. in the next year or so."

"Extra sleep will help with that," Sesshoumaru said, giving her a meaningful look. Kagome rolled her eyes, and Byakuya's eyes widened in realization.

So it was blackmail then.

If the boss-man needed his help to butter this woman up to stop the parties from happening, Byakuya was more than willing to help. Especially if it got him laid at the same time.

"What do you think?" he asked, motioning towards the tart as she took her last bite. "It's the featured item on the menu this month."

Kagome swallowed carefully, licking the glaze off her lips. "It's good—" She looked past him and met Sesshoumaru's gaze. "—but I like your lemon one better."
