I don't own My Hero, the characters, or storyline, only my original characters and plot points~
"I already regret this,"
Midoriya's bright idea has me currently hanging on his back off to the side of the forest, patiently waiting for Dark Shadow to cross the path before we make a run for it. "You sure this is going to work?" I hesitantly ask and his answer doesn't reassure me, "I don't know, but it's worth a shot,"
Nodding at his half assed attempt to make me feel better, I bitterly mutter an exaggerated, "Great,"
A break in the treeline grabs our attention and we remain quiet as Dark Shadow lurks through the forest ominously. Once he's stepped into the dirt path, Midoriya steps out of our hiding spot as I crack my binds against the ground a few times as I shout, "HEY! DARK SHADOW!"
Dark Shadow turns its head in our direction, it's bright red eyes showing pure, unhinged rage that makes the hair on the back of my neck stand up. Pushing away my fear, I call out to him again, "COME AND GET ME, BIG GUY!"
The dirt kicks up as I snap at the ground again, feeling as exposed and stupid as the people that toss a red cape in front of a bull to taunt it. Well, it worked. Dark Shadow immediately sets off into a sprint towards us and I tighten my grip as I shout over my shoulder, "GO! GO, MIDORIYA!"
Green energy surrounds us, creating a soft buzzing sound for a moment, before Midoriya surges forward. The air whips around us and my hair moves wildly, forcing me to keep my forehead against his shoulder to shield my eyes.
I can hear trees snapping and falling quickly as Dark Shadow chases us. Even with how fast we're going, my stomach drops at the thought that Dark Shadow could catch up to us before we make it to Bakugou.
"MIDORIYA! CHI! WHAT ARE YOU GUYS DOING?! GET OUT OF HERE, SAVE YOURSELVES!" Tokoyami pleads with us and my heart swells at his concern. He's stuck there, in pain, literally just as fucked as we are in this situation, and yet he is still trying to help us. "WE AREN'T LEAVING YOU BEHIND, TOKOYAMI! YOU'RE OUR FRIEND, SO WE'RE GONNA HELP YOU!" Midoriya shouts over his shoulder, ducking under and over obstacles that come his way.
My fingers try their best to keep hold on the tattered gym uniform, but after not properly circulating my blood, I know that I don't have as much grip strength as usual. Gritting my teeth, I try to tighten my grasp, but the pads of skin on my fingers glide harshly on the cloth material.
"Fuck!" I exclaim as I reach up and hold onto a different section of his jacket, but there isn't much to grab and I hear Midoriya call out to me, "Chi?!"
I shake my head, my heart racing as I lift my head a bit to say to him, "I-i can't do it-I can't hold on! My hands keep slipping!"
"Just hold on, Chi! Hold on for a little longer, we're almost at a clearing!" He begs me and I want to. I want to hold on for as long as I can, but after regripping a moment prior, I feel my wrist and fingers cramping at the pressure I'm using to stay on his back. I cry out as my hand slips again, and I shake my head as I feel Midoriya shift slightly to stabilize me.
I have to do it. I can't stay on his back, or else we're both going down, and I need him to get help, to make it to Katsuki.
With my mind made up, I use the last of my strength to pull my legs out from Midoriya's looped arms, placing them on his back before pushing off to the side and away from him. "CHI!" Midoriya shouts as I hit the ground. I curl into a ball as I roll for a few seconds, my side taking the brunt of the impact. I sputter for a moment, trying to catch my breath when I open my eyes to see Midoriya about to turn and dash to me.
Holding my hand out, and shout at him, "GO! I'LL BE FINE! GO GET BAKUGOU!"
"NO! NOT WITHOUT YOU-"
"WE DON'T HAVE TIME! PLEASE, MIDORIYA, YOU HAVE TO LEAVE ME!"
There's a moment where he hesitates, the green energy still encompassing him as his eyes dart between me, the clearing up ahead, and Dark Shadow. The sound of trees breaking is getting closer to us and he turns back to me, a pleading look in his eyes, but I shake my head.
"Go-please,"
Midoriya takes a deep breath, his jaw clenching as he gives me an apologetic look, and then turns as his form dashes away in a flurry of green electricity.
I breathe a sigh of relief, but that moment of peace is quickly ruined as Dark Shadow breaks through the last of the trees that cover me. A gasp leaves my body as another dark spear pierces my injured shoulder, lifting me off of the ground as I moan in agony.
My feet swing a bit as I'm picked up and eye level with Dark Shadow, the red glow of his eyes absolutely menacing up close. I struggle against the spear, but only grovel as the spear digs deeper in my wound. "Chi," Tokoyami weakly says, his head drooping down in defeat as he goes on, "I told you to run, why did you come back for me?"
Before I can reply, Dark Shadow's voice breaks the tension, "Enough," he says, the loud and deep bass in his tone only adds to his already intimidating form. I bring my attention back to his glare and he laughs at my current state, "You've outrun me for long enough, and now, I'm going to enjoy this,"
"Just make it quick," I request, closing my eyes as I brace for impact.
