A/N: Thank you all for your continued interest in my little fic! We're hopping over to Hiro's (aka Hiccup's) perspective for a second. Seeing as they both have sad stories, this is not going to be the lightest chapter. I just need to do this to establish where this character stands mentally and emotionally, and then we can continue with our cheerful Nuts.

Two Months Later

Hiro yawned when he arrived at the school dorms. He stumbled out of the humid June heat into the cool, air-conditioned building. It had been a long week of Final Exams on not a lot of sleep. After finishing his last test, he could not wait to crash on his bed and nap for the rest of the afternoon.

His tired state was not just from the grueling week of exams. Hiro had been pulling a lot of late nights, working on software improvements for Baymax. He and his friends were heading up to Montreoslo for the summer to work at one of the most highly-advanced science labs in the world. Hiro was very excited to see what new technologies he would be getting to use. They were leaving tomorrow, and the fifteen-year-old wanted to make sure his robot was in tip-top shape to impress the lead scientist. If he was lucky, this three-month internship could turn into a job after he graduated.

As he headed up the stairs to the third floor of the building, Hiro's mind unintentionally wandered to his brother, Tadashi. He really wished he could call him up right now to tell him how awesome he had done in his first year of Nerd School. And about the fact that he had landed a sweet internship for the summer. And about the cool upgrades he had made to Baymax. Aunt Cas would tell him that Tadashi did know, and was watching him every day. Hiro knew his brother would have been proud, but it wasn't the same. It was never the same.

The depressing thought put a serious damper on his mood. Not a day went by that Hiro didn't think about his brother at least once. On bad days, it was usually a lot more than that. Being around his friends helped keep his mind occupied, but it didn't change how he felt. And no matter how much time passed, it hurt just as badly every time, like he was re-living Tadashi's death over and over again. If there was one thing Hiro hated more than losing his brother, it was the continuous, lingering pain that never seemed to go away. It was like a curse, and he despised it.

Hiro angrily swallowed the tears that were now clogging his throat. He pulled out the key to his room and turned the knob. As soon as he stepped inside, he noticed a piece of paper fluttering on the floor. It must have been slipped under the door while he was out. With a sigh, Hiro leaned over and picked it up.

"What is this?" He muttered to himself. He flipped it over to the front, expecting it to be some school advertisement for an end-of-year event. Instead, there was a crayon drawing of a dragon.

At least, Hiro assumed it was a dragon. It was not a traditional one. It looked more like a black cat with big, eagle-like wings. The drawing was surprisingly intricate, despite the crude medium. He wondered for a moment if someone had slipped it under the wrong door by accident. Hiro was about to shrug it off and toss it aside, but instead found himself staring at the image curiously. The creature was not vicious-looking the way one would expect a dragon to look. It was curled up on the ground like it had been sleeping, its two neon green eyes peeking out innocently from under its wing. Hiro became strangely aware of his gut tensing up anxiously and his mouth going dry. He suddenly felt frozen, unable to tear his eyes away from the image.

"You got one too?"

Hiro nearly jumped at the sound of Wasabi's voice. He hadn't heard him come down the hall, but now his large-muscled friend leaned against the open door of his room and crossed his arms with a smirk.

Shaking off his odd visceral reaction to the drawing, Hiro cleared his throat. "Uh..."

"The picture," Wasabi clarified, holding up a drawing of his own. His showed an orange, boulder-like dragon licking up a pile of rocks into its mouth. "We all got one. Apparently Fred isn't as over his nutty dragon theory as we thought."

"Fred?"

"Check the signature," Wasabi pointed at the bottom of Hiro's drawing. There, in scraggly blue crayon, was a message:

Hope this jogs your memory! - From Fred

Hiro scrunched his eyebrows together in confusion. It was over two months ago that Fred had woken everyone up with delirious babbling about dragons and Vikings in the middle of the night. Hiro had assumed that Honey Lemon had managed to talk sense back into him, because he hadn't mentioned dragons again since. But looking at the unique detail of these sketches, it seemed that Fred's imagination had only grown.

Those bright green eyes drew him back to the picture. Was this creature supposed to be familiar to him?

Before he could remind himself that Fred's theory was ridiculous, Hiro felt that strange nauseating tension return to his gut. His involuntary anxiety baffled him. He quickly shook himself again to clear his mind.

"Its probably just something from one of his comic books," Wasabi shrugged. He pushed Hiro on the side of the head, causing the boy to stumble. "Stop taking it so seriously, geez."

"I'm just concerned, that's all," Hiro said vaguely in defense. Though concern did not quite account for the weirdly intense emotions suddenly swirling in his stomach.

He huffed and crammed the page into his already full backpack. Dragons aren't real, idiot, he told himself stubbornly, then abruptly changed the subject.

"Are you packed for the trip?" Hiro asked.

"Yes I'm packed! I've been packed for weeks! Stop bugging me about it!" Wasabi replied wide-eyed. Hiro smirked. He knew how much his friend had been dreading the flight to Montreoslo. Despite his tough-guy stature, the man was petrified of heights and enclosed spaces. An airplane combined those two fears into what Wasabi called 'the most terrifying mechanism in the world.'

"Hey, don't worry," Hiro assured him. "I'll give you a sleeping pill on the plane and we'll be back on the ground in no time."

Wasabi pulled the smaller boy into a suffocating hug. "Thanks Hiro," he blubbered gratefully. "You're the best."

Hiro felt like his lungs were about to implode, and his nose was pressed painfully against Wasabi's ribcage. He managed to choke out a muffled reply. "Can't... breathe..."

"Oh sorry!" Wasabi exclaimed as he quickly let go.

Hiro caught his breath and smiled. "I'll see you tomorrow, Wasabi," he said.

"Bright and early!" Wasabi agreed. "Don't forget your toothbrush!"

Hiro chuckled. He closed the door behind him and felt his eyes droop sleepily. As he stepped towards his bed, he tripped.

"Ow," Hiro groaned, now laying against the hard wood floor. The item that had caused his fall was his suitcase. He heard the sound of Baymax inflating, and he sighed without bothering to look up. "I'm fine, Baymax," he muttered, closing his eyes. "Go back to sleep."

Hiro waited, expecting to hear the robot's typical 'rate your pain' speech. Instead, the young student suddenly found himself being lifted off the ground, encompassed by puffy white balloon arms. He opened his eyes.

"Your low levels of motor coordination are likely due to your irregular sleep patterns," the robot stated as Hiro looked up at his vacant black eyes. "Sleep is very important for your health. Adolescents should receive seven to nine hours of sleep every night."

"Yeah, thanks," Hiro mumbled as he dug his face closer into the robot's soft belly.

There was a moment of silence. Hiro thought he heard the low hum of Baymax scanning him. Then, a strange purring sound began resonating from Baymax's chest. It was kind of like a cat's trill, but not quite. Something about it felt familiar and soothing. Before Hiro could understand why, he was fast asleep.

A/N: Someone asked me in the comments about who Tadashi was, and I don't know for sure. In my mind I was thinking he could have been Stoic, since losing Dad had had a really strong impact on Hiccup the same way losing Tadashi had impacted Hiro. He also could have been Gobber though, since Tadashi was a mentor to Hiro and did sort of bring the team together.

Anyway, thanks for reading and staying with me in this! I hope you are enjoying my continuation.
