The next three days the rooms were fully finished. And Hunter and the kids move in permanently. Hunter sold his house really quickly. It was a nice home it had just been to small for them really.
The end of year party came, and Rosie and Hayley went, and everyone had a good time. Rosie mentioned that she was leaving the next day to go to California.
"Who are you seeing?" Nolan asked
"Going to stay with my cousin and grandfather. Maybe seeing Lexi." Rosie said
"Lexi? You can see her?" Taylor asked
Rosie nodded. "Her mom has come around."
"That's great." Cass said, "What changed her mind."
"A few things have. Long story." Rosie said
Her friends nodded. They knew it would be awhile before she opened up to them the way she used to. But they just tried to enjoy the rest of the party.
Eventually the party came to an end and people were leaving.
"How you getting home?" Nolan asked Rosie and Hayley.
"Me." Rosie said with a smile.
"Right you've got a car now." Nolan said
"Good seeing you though." Rosie said
"Roe. Can we please talk? Just a minute." Nolan said
Rosie took a breath and looked at Hayley handing her the keys. "Can you wait in the car?" She asked
Hayley nodded. "Sure." She went
Rosie looked at Nolan. "What's up?"
"I know I fucked up. I didn't handle the situation right at all. You were right it shouldn't have been a question what I did. I should have just told you and the police right away. And I know that while it was never my intention. I really hurt you. And I'm so sorry. And I'm not asking you to get back together. I know that it will be along time before we can get to that point if ever. But you were my best friend before we dated, and it feels weird not even texting with you every day. Can we please go back to being friends?" Nolan asked
Rosie took a breath. "I admit its been hard for me too. But when you were trying to figure out what to do you weren't there for me. And I needed you. I needed my best friend more than I needed my boyfriend that week. And he wasn't there for me. I'm not saying we cant text. And you cant talk to me. And we are still friends. I told you that when we broke up. But to get back to being best friends like we were before. Its going to take time."
"Okay. That's fair. Do you want to talk about what happened during that week?" Nolan asked
"When I get back from Cali maybe we can hang out and talk than." Rosie said
Nolan nodded. "Okay. Have fun in California."
"Thanks." She said they went their separate ways and Rosie climbed into her drivers seat and took a breath.
"You okay?" Hayley asked
Rosie nodded. "I'm okay. Still hurts is all."
"I have a question." Hayley said
"Okay." Rosie said
"Knowing how this ended would you go back and not date him?" Hayley asked
"Not a chance. He did really hurt me. But he was my best friend and he got me through so much crap. We had so much fun together. I broke up with him because he hurt me yes. But also because I need to work on myself and figure my own shit out." Rosie said
Hayley nodded.
Rosie drove home.
"You looking forward to California?" Hayley asked
"Incredibly." Rosie said
She pulled in at home a few minutes later and they both went inside. Rosie went and showered and made sure her bags were fully packed before going to bed to make sure she got enough sleep.
