Chapter 17: an innocent murdered.
That voice made Jakob look around and feel like he was being watched.
He flicked out his wand and kept walking forwards.
"Must be imagining things. Whispered the boy. But something about that voice seemed familiar.
He abruptly stopped when he heard a wet noise as he took a step, and with a frown, the boy glanced down and saw that the floor had been overflown by water.
"This is super weird", he whispered and continued on.
Jakob rounded a corner when he heard them. But these voices he knew.
"Harry, what do you mean you heard a voice? "
"I don't know Ivy, but it came from here."
Jakob hid behind a pillar and saw the Gryffindor golden group walking towards the girl's lavatory but suddenly stopped.
"the chamber of secrets has been opened. Enemies of the heir beware. It's written in blood, guys. Look, there are misses, Norris." Hermione said and gasped as she saw the cat.
"Is it dead?" asked Ron, and Jakob rolled his eyes. of course, it's dead, you idiot.
"No, it seems like it has been frozen in time, like a doll." said Ivy."
The know it all Slytherin's eyebrows rose, and he shrugged. Well, he is an idiot anyways.
"Harry, we did not hear any voice saying someone would be killed. It was only you. Maybe you should talk to dumbledore about this?"
Noted, thought Jakob as he heard those last words from Hermione. He had to go now. He knew that someone would show up sooner or later, and he wanted to be far from here when they did. Jakob slid from his hiding place and started to walk the other way. He could hear the voices of the three Gryffindors less and less, and when he entered the grand staircase, he was sure he had made it out.
He entered the Slytherin common room and gestured for Amy to follow him to the Slytherin five room.
Amy, who was currently sitting with Isabella doing homework, saw that Jakob looked grave, got up from her chair and gestured for her friend to stay while she and Jakob walked inside.
"Jakob, what is it? You look-" started Amy but was cut off by Jakob.
"Amy, do you know what the chamber of secrets is?" interrupted Jakob, and Amy looked confused.
"Yes? How do you not know that? You are pure blood and Slytherin?"
"My father was very clear that I would not have any information about the school before going here. Can you give me a quick recap because something happened?"
Amy sat down on her seat and gestured for Jakob to sit beside her.
The boy who walked back and forth gestured for her to continue, and the queen, with a frown, started the tale about the chamber of secrets.
"It's said that Salazar created it and was his private study. He disagreed with the other founders about letting mudblood studies here, and when they would not listen, he created a monster that one day will rid this school of them."
"alright. Would it make more sense to create it to protect the school but, fair enough, anything more?" asked Jakob.
"Jakob… firstly, letting those Mudblood have a place in this school is a mockery of what magic stands for, and secondly, can you please sit down, or do I have to hex you?"
Deep in thought, the boy looked at her, smirked briefly, and took his seat beside her. Amy grabbed his hand and gave him a confused smile.
Jakob, What is this all about?"
Jakob calmed down a bit.
"I will explain, but I need to have the information before I can say my theory. Is there something else that I need to know?
"Well," she said, sighing and showing an annoyed face.
"for about fifty years ago, the chamber was reopened, and a mudblood died. And that's it. That is more or less everything."
The boy looked at her in shock.
"Is that everything? Do they know where the entrance is?"
"No." said the queen shortly.
"do they know what monster lays inside?"
"no," said Amy, a bit more irritated.
Jakob stared at the table, deep in thought.
"Jakob!" Amy yelled, and he jumped.
"Can you tell me what's going on? She said in a calm voice, squeezing his hand.
"The chamber has been opened. Enemies of the heir beware," said Jakob looking at her.
"What?" said Amy confused.
"There is a text written on the corridor wall on the second floor. It's written in blood."
Amy frowned.
"Are you sure?
"Yes, I was walking there doing my thing, and I heard this voice saying let me rip you… let me tear you… let me kill you… and when I followed the voice, it showed me the text and…."
Amy, who first looked surprised, stopped him.
"Jakob, you are speaking parseltongue. What did the voice say?"
"I spoke in parsel parseltongue ?"
Jakob saw that Amy started to look at him like he was beginning to lose it.
"Do you know what this means?" Jakob asked a now frowning Amy.
"Means what?" she questioned back.
"The voice that I heard was Slytherin's monster. Amy. It's a snake."
Now it was the Slytherin queen's turn to look shocked, and Jakob had to call her name before she focused her eyes on him.
"They have been looking for that monster since the school was founded, and you discovered it in one night!" said the girl with a baffled expression and got up. Jakob got up and walked beside her.
"But I don't know what type of snake yet, so you must be careful, okay?"
Amy, who had calmed down a bit, nodded her head and gave him a kiss.
"It really sucks that I graduate in less than two years," she said in a
whiny voice laying her arms around his shoulders.
"Yeh, it does, but why do you say it now?" asked Jakob giving her another kiss before she answered.
"Where ever you are, things happen, and I can only imagen what wonderful things I will miss when I leave you here."
Jakob frowned.
"I don't really want to think about being here without you.." The Slytherin boy said with a frown. She smiled and gave him one last kiss before sitting on her throne. And taking up the queen persona.
"Did anyone see you?"
Jakob shook his head.
"No, but I saw the golden group. I hid behind a pillar so I was not discovered, but they also saw what I saw. But a doubt they know what we two know.
Amy nodded.
"What should we do? Should we warn the Slytherins?" asked Jakob, but Amy shook her head.
"No, we can't tell them about the monster, but they all will probably know right now about the text, and if it's true about the snake, it will only target mudbloods, so we are safe. "
Jakob nodded but thought about someone he did not wish to target.
"When the news breaks out, we are going to handle it like we don't know anything for your safety. Alright?" asked Amy seeing Jakob thinking about something.
"yes." answered the boy when Amy sought his eyes.
"promise ?"
"I promise."
Amy nodded to her most precious Slytherin five-member, and they stood up.
When they walked out to the common too. They heard voices outside, and they both stared at the entrance door.
When the doors opened, Slytherin students from all years walked inside and talked about what they just had witnessed.
Jakob saw his group of friends, and when Draco, who was in the middle of a conversation with Theo, saw him, he nudged his friend, and they both rushed over to the Quade heir.
"Jake, I need to tell you something hilarious said Draco and began his story about how everyone in the entire school had caught the golden group petrifying Filche's cat and the text on the wall.
"He almost punched the blood traitor in the face," said Draco as he remembered something wonderful, and then he frowned.
"Then the Headmaster interrupted everything that tosser and said something about those plants we had in herbology.
After his briefing by Draco, Jakob was summoned to a meeting with the Slytherin five. They discussed what had happened, but the queen did not mention Jakob or the newfound information about the monster. When the meeting had ended, they had decided to wait and see. They would see this as an opportunity to let Salazar continue his work, but Jakob felt something was wrong. They should be more scared about this than they currently are.
The Slytherin boy walked back into his dorm and met his snake that we're currently lying on his bed. Jakob walked over and lay beside her feeling her slither into his chest.
"Hello you, where have you been?" asked Jakob as he gently picked her up and put her on his chest and stomach.
"I have been out in the forest. There is so much to hunt, and I have started to gain a reputation. so a lot of other creatures try to hunt me down." Said Saliza as she slithered, so her face was close to his cheek, and she flicked her tongue at him, making him smile.
"so why would they hunt you if you got a reputation?" hissed Jakob in question.
"Kill me, and you jump the food chain." answered his snake shortly.
"Are you careful out there? Do you need any help?"
"No, little Darkness. It's my hunting ground, and if I can't prove to be a good hunter, I might as well end up the prey sooner or later."
Jakob did not really know what to think about what his snake had just told him. She was right but not wanting his help made him worry for his companion. he decided to switch the subject.
"Saliza, do you know of a snake that can petrify its prey?"
Saliza was quiet for a moment and then spoke.
"No, why?"
Jakob sighed.
"I heard a voice before, and apparently, it was a snake. It said tear, rip and kill. When I then followed the sound, I saw water on the floor, and a cat had been petrified."
"I will see if anyone in the woods knows anything. I will return shortly."
The snake slithered away, and Jakob followed the snake with his eyes while it disappeared through the window. When Saliza had vanished, the young Slytherin boy turned his head, looking at the ceiling of his roof, and wondered if he could charm it to look like the night sky as it did in the great hall.
Pansy soon arrived, and Jakob told her what he had told Amy.
"So you think it's a snake?" said the girl, a little worried.
Jakob pulled her to him.
"I could understand it, so what else could it be? Don't worry. It won't do anything to you."
"I hope it gets rid of those filthy mudbloods. Ah, I can't stand them."
Jakob released her and stood up.
"it might," he said, a bit short and walked into the bathroom, confusing the short-haired girl for a moment.
When he returned, Pansy noticed that her roommate was not meeting her eyes.
"What's wrong, Jakob? You don't seem so happy about all this?"
"Pansy, can't I be totally honest with you?"
Pansy, who was sitting in their bed, had just started with homework, and when she noticed the grave expression on Jake's face, she put down her quill.
"I think Grindelwald had a point."
Pansy frowned.
"What do you mean, Jake?"
Jakob knew there was only a small chance that pansy would understand this, so he carefully approached the subject.
"Grindelwald was worried that the muggles would attack them and knew the dangers they could bring. To fight them, he believed that wizards and witches of any kind should join forces; otherwise, they would not stand a chance."
Pansy frowned.
"He might have been a great dark lord, but we don't follow what he believed, Jakob. We follow He who must not be named. And what could the muggles possible do to us when we have magic?" She said, amused.
Jakob opened his chest, took out a picture of the nuclear bomb, and showed her.
"what is this?" Pansy frowned.
"This is a muggle bomb. If it were dropped over London, it would destroy a lot more than the city, and around 2.1 million people would die magical and muggles. This bomb won't save you because you are pureblood."
Pansy looked at the picture in terror.
"Jakob, this must be some kind of joke or propaganda. There is no way that a bomb like this could do this much damage."
"Grindelwald saw this happen during his reign, and he tried to take over to stop the muggles from growing. This was in 1935. This was around 60 years ago."
Pansy looked pale and just stared at Jakob, still holding the paper in her hand.
"So... if they were to drop one over Diagon alley..."
"Screw the Diagon Alley," said Jakob raising his voice. And she jumped a bit, seeing Jakob's temper rise.
"Pansy, if they have this bomb, what else do you think they have? this bomb was created about 30 years ago. If the muggles decide to attack us, we hardly won't stand a chance, and if we kill mudbloods and other magical, we will be wiped out in a matter of months."
"So you are telling me that you think that mudbloods should take over the wizarding world? Make us forget the old ways?" said the girl, now seeing where he was going with this.
"Pansy, don't you understand? If we divide us more, their wont be anyone left. Muggles are ten times more than us already, and if we take away a third of us because of pride, we will be even less."
Pansy looked down at the paper again and then up at Jakob.
"You really mean this, don't you?"
Jakob sat beside her. and sighed.
"Pansy, you know that my family would kill me if I said this to them and that everyone here would disown me from the Slytherin house if I even mentioned this, but I have shown you why I have changed my mind."
He then turned to her, seeing her torn facial expressure.
"Pansy, now that you know everything that I do. Are you with me, or do you think it would be best if I got a cell beside Grindelwald?
Pansy put down the paper and, with shaky hands, grabbed his.
"Jakob, if it is how you described, I believe you. I will always stand with you, but I'm afraid that we are alone in this. People will not listen to you. You are just a kid."
Jakob squeezed her hand and gave her a smile, and something inside him felt a joy that he had this girl beside him.
"They won't listen to me yet. But one day, I will make them see and continue what Grindewall started. If they choose to close their eyes or go against me, I will force them to fight for us."
Pansy felt a shiver going through her entire body, and the hair on her arms stood up, seeing the determination in Jakob as he said that statement.
For the first time, she saw what her closest friend was meant to become. And who she would be beside every step of the way. Her own dark lord.
She released her hand from his grip and hugged him. they stayed like that for a time. Pansy felt worried about what Jakob would endure in his future, and Jakob felt relief having her beside him.
There were no more attacks that week, and things seemed to be returning to normal, but Jakob knew better, and this evening he would make sure that his friend also did.
When the club had ended, Jakob saw that the idiot boys once again told Hermione to hurry up, but this time Jakob gave her a glare.
"Miss Granger, I would like to have a word with you if you don't mind?"
Not used to the voice Jakob had used, Hermione nodded, and he waved his wand closing the door on the two boys' faces.
"Why are you avoiding me? Have I done something to upset you?"
Jacob asked and got up with his warm smile.
Hermione breathed out a sigh of relief and smiled back.
"Don't scare me like that, and no, you haven't. I'm sorry. I just have a lot going on right now. I feel really terrible about it," she said when she noted Jakob's slightly disappointed face.
"Would honestly be better if I did something. Then I could fix it, and we would return to normal, but it's not me. It's you."
Hermione was about to say something when he interrupted her.
"I want you to be careful, okay?"
Hermione frowned and sat down, waiting for Jakob to continue.
"the chamber of secrets, if it really exists, will have a monster inside it."
"I know McGonagall told us in class, remember ?" said Hermione, a bit confused.
Jakob sat down beside her.
"It will target people like you. Salazar created it to get rid of dirty blood. He snorted.
Hermione took his hand.
"I will be careful, I promise."
The Slytherin boy nodded, giving a smile in return.
"I know that your friends have a hero complex and that they seek danger, but Hermione promise me that you won't go out seeking it."
Hermione was silent, and Jakob frowned.
"what is it?"
"We... are trying to figure out who the heir of Slytherin might be."
"any suggestions?" asked Jakob, and Hermione looked slightly awkward and turned in her seat.
"They believe that it's either you or Draco. I tried to get them to focus on Draco, but after the stunt you did at harry in quidditch, he has been 100% sure it's you."
"It's not Draco or me. I can tell you that much." said the boy, a bit irritated that his friend would even think that.
"do... Do you know who it might be?"
Jakob released his hand and looked unimpressed at the muggle-born.
"Because I'm a snake? Miss Granger, your friends are starting to negatively influence you."
Hermione looked away for a second and stood up.
"No, they are not, and I just asked you as a friend. Don't you want to know so he or she can be stopped ?"
Jakob, who had never seen this side of Hermione, did not like it and stood up.
"You first insult my friend and me and then get angry because I say the fact? Why don't you ask your little friend potter who might be the heir of Slytherin? If you ask me, I would say. It was him."
"Why would harry be the heir of Slytherin?"
Jakob looked at her like she actually was an idiot.
"he hears voices," he said like it was the answer to everything.
"so what and how do you know that?"
"Because I know, and he has not told you how he can hear them, hasn't he? Your friends are hiding secrets from you, Granger. Are you sure that they are not real snakes?
Now getting red in anger seeing Jakob's smirk, Hermione turned around and walked away, slamming the door.
Jakob stood there for a few seconds and then flicked his wand and roared while he let his rage fuel a jet of purple magic that destroyed the entire classroom.
When he was done, he gazed upon the damage he had brought.
It was all destroyed. The paintings, the chairs, the desks, his and Hermione's desk. The only thing that had made it was the carpet on the floor.
Burn marks were seen over the walls, and he breathed heavily as he sat down on the only chair still standing and whispered to himself.
"fuck this. Go ahead with those idiots."
He walked out of the classroom, not even bothering to close the door.
That evening Jakob lay in his bed holding his new knife in one hand and a book in his other, trying to decipher the different runes.
He was getting nowhere and still feeling the anger about what happened before he threw his knife in frustration. It hit the bedside pillar and went halfway through.
Why would that Nott head of house gift me a Knife and not give me any information about what it is used for? Did he do it to mock me?
He got up again and walked out of his dorm, feeling that he needed to take a walk again.
He crossed the Slytherin common room and walked up the stairs, not caring where he would end up.
As he walked into a corridor, he recognized where he was.
Jakob walked over to the wall that previously had the blood text written all over it.
He looked around the place and saw no trace of what had transpired here before.
His eyes turned to the bathroom where he had had his little chat with Berrow and remembered that the overflow water had originated behind those doors.
Jakob walked over to the doorway, looked around once to ensure no one saw him and opened it.
He knew it had been abandoned because of a ghost who liked to scare the girls away, but he still walked with a light step and tried his best not to be heard.
He saw the ghost floating around over the stalls and making a noise that made Jakob wish that it held something that he could throw at her in irritation.
"Hello? Who might you be?" he asked, and the ghost girl stopped what she was doing and looked down at him.
"Who am I? Who are you? This is the girl's lavatory. You should not be here."
Jakob gave her his charming smile. And thought up a name.
"My name is Victor, Victor Smith. Now that I have told you my name, would you like to tell me yours?"
The ghostly girl with pigtails and glasses floated down to him and observed him for a moment before saying.
"My name is Myrtle, but people call me moaning Myrtle. Have you come to throw things at me?"
Jakob shook his head.
"Absolutely not. I was just admiring your little home here, miss Myrtle. Please would you tell me about it?"
Myrtle started to giggle and looked around like she was searching for something.
"Oh, there is the best toilet, and oh, over there, I once saw a girl pee her pants. It was wonderful!" Jakob looked around to where the ghost pointed with fake interest, and Myrtle continued for a while.
When she was done with all the places, Jakob looked at her once again.
"Say, Myrtle, you seemed to have experienced much here. Why did you end up being a ghost here? You look like a student."
Myrtle, who was looking very happy at first, changed when Jakob asked about her death. Myrtle started to look almost traumatized when she opened her mouth to tell him.
"I died here. I was once a student and raised as a muggle-born. I had a hard time fitting into Ravenclaw. I was crying in one of the bathrooms, and then I heard a voice."
Jakob raised one eyebrow.
"A voice?"
Myrtle nodded.
"He was speaking funny, like some made-up language, and I opened the door to tell him to go away, and I… died."
Jakob frowned.
"Did you die just like that? No green light or feeling of pain?"
Myrtle shook her head.
"No…but I do remember one thing."
Jakob turned as she pointed to the sinks.
"I saw a pair of glowing yellow eyes over at that sink.
Jakob's eyes widened.
"Myrtle, how long ago was it you died?"
She thought for a moment putting a finger to her chin.
"must be 50 years ago by now."
Jakob walked to the sink and bent down a bit, feeling the snake carving on the side. The Slytherin boy remembered Saliza smelling something similar to a snake in here.
"Holy shit, I found it", he whispered in awe.
Suddenly he heard someone approach the door, and Jakob hurried to one of the bathrooms. Myrtle, who saw him hide, floated down to him.
He put a finger up to show her to be quiet, and Myrtle thinking this was a game, nodded and raised her finger two with a mischievous smile.
He heard footsteps walking slowly and then a voice he knew to speak in parsel tongue.
"Open." said the voice, and he wanted so badly to open the door. One peek, and he would see who Slytherin's heir would be.
It sounded like a boy, and he was a parselmouth.
He doubted it was harry feeling like this boy sounded older.
He heard something big moving around, and when it all went silent after a minute, Jakob gestured for Myrtle to take a peek, which she did.
"Coast is clear," she whispered, and Jakob got out.
"Thank you, Myrtle, but I think I need to be going now.
Myrtle looked sad about it, and Jakob continued.
"but I will return soon, alright?"
Myrtle giggled again and nodded.
"Can you do me a favour, Myrtle?" asked Jakob as he opened the door."
Myrtle shrugged.
"Sure, Victor. What do you need?"
"If you want me to return here, this must be a secret between you and me, alright? So no one can know of this."
Myrtle nodded.
"Oh, and can you keep an eye out and tell me who has been here next time we see each other?"
Myrtle laughed.
"That's two favours, silly, but I will be your guard," she said, saluting.
"Thanks, and I'll see you soon." Jakob closed the door and ran back to his common room. He thought about staying to reveal who the heir was, but knowing that the monster could reappear, he did not dare stay and take his chances. Not until he was sure about what it was.
The next few days, nothing more happened. Jakob went about his day having boring meetings with the Slytherins five and tried his best to be with his friends and take this time to catch up on some study about rituals.
He had talked with the headmaster and the Slytherin five about his classroom and told them someone had gone in and destroyed everything.
Jakob would have to fix the new paintings and desks after Christmas to continue his punishment. Witch, he did not look forward to not having talked with his friend after the incident.
The young Slytherin boy had talked much with Saliza about the snake, but she had not yet found any information that fit his description.
He was currently lying in his common room with Draco in front of him and pansy at his side, and he helped them with a potion homework that they both struggled with.
"So I need to turn it counterclockwise for three minutes before putting in the Beatle and then Lower the heat?" asked Draco, who was two steps behind pansy.
"Mhm," said Jakob, stretching his legs outside the armrest and his head close to Pansy's leg.
"How can you know this and still be able to read another book?" asked Draco, a bit jealous of Jakob.
"Because he actually studies Draco. He might be boring, but he does his work and is actually pretty smart. He's almost like a Ravenclaw," said pansy and giggled when Jakob gently nudged her leg with his book.
"Slytherins are more like Ravenclaws than you think, Pansy."
Said the bookworm while he flipped a page.
"What makes you say that?" frowned Draco while putting in the Beatle and then quickly lowering the heat.
"Because the only thing that makes me different from a Ravenclaw is that they learn for learning's sake. I do it to my help my ambitions.
"True words," said a voice and Jakob looked up to see Daphne looking down at him.
Jakob smiled back and moved his legs so she could sit down, and when he prepared himself to get up, he felt her discreetly place his legs back down over her.
"What are you reading?" asked Daphne to her crush, who continued to read his book.
"A book I had in my family library about Herpo the foul. He is quite interesting but did some weird things."
Daphne and Draco looked over at the boy while Pansy continued on, not really caring who he was.
"Why are you reading about him?" asked Draco.
Jakob shrugged. I needed some change, and he…." He stopped as he turned away his legs and sat up.
"What is it? You look pale?" asked Daphne, a bit worried seeing the usual charming boy now staring at a page.
"I need to go... Where is the queen?"
They all shrugged, and Jakob rose up, but before he could take a step, a Slytherin walked inside and told everyone in the room.
"There has been a new attack, and that mudblood Creevey is petrified."
Jakob walked out of the common room and went to the great hall.
He walked in a looked around but did not see Amy anywhere.
He saw Marcus sitting with his friends, joking about something and walked up to them with a calm expression but feeling his heartbeat.
"hey jake, what's up?" said Marcus when he locked eyes with the boy.
"I have a matter to discuss with miss Frome. Do you know where I can find her? "
Marcus shrugged.
"I think she has divination right now. Do you know where that is? "
"yeah, I can find my way there, that you. You should head back. There had been an attack, and the mudblood Creevey had been petrified.
Marcus high-fived Pucey.
"Why would I need to do that? The monster knows I'm a pureblood."
Jakob nodded and turned around. Does it, though? he wondered and walked out from the great hall but quickened his steps towards the north tower.
When he stood highest up in the tower and in front of the classroom door, he had to catch his breath. Those bloody steps are not running-friendly.
He walked forward and saw that the lesson just had ended, and the students can pouring out.
"Mr Quade, can I help you with something asked Amy as she walked with Vanity beside her.
"Yes, I would like to discuss new information I have collected that I think you would like to hear."
Amy observes him and notices the sweat on his forehead. She Gave Vanity a nod to go before her.
"We can talk in here. The professor has left, so just close the door."
Jacob did what he was told, and they stood alone in the classroom.
"Why would you pick divination? Isn't that a little...?
Amy crossed her arms and gave him oh really look.
"I chose it because I find it interesting. Do you have any problems with that?"
"No, none at all, just think it's intriguing that you chose it, that's all," said Jakob with his charming smile, and Amy sighed.
"Jakob, you could not wait for me to get back? You showing up here might raise suspicion and-"
"it's a basilisk." interrupted Jakob, and Amy sighed again.
" Alright, I'll bite. What is a basilisk, and why is that relevant?"
" Slytherins monster. It's a basilisk," said Jakob and slammed the open book on the table with his right hand, so one of the transparent balls got knocked off its stand and rolled away.
Amy frowned and looked at the picture. As her eyes began to read, she picked up the book and walked back and forth.
When a few minutes passed, she stopped dead in her track.
" Holy shit," she whispered.
" right!" said Jakob, and she turned around, looking as pale as he had done when he found out he imagen.
" But it can't be a basilisk. The cat and boy got petrified. They did not die."
Jakob sat down on one of the cushions.
"I can only say my theory about the cat, but I imagen that the mud-blood had something similar happen to him.
" Go on," said Amy and sat down beside him.
" That night, when I saw that Filch's cat had been petrified, there was water on the floor. If she looked at the reflection-"
"she would not look it directly in the eyes." continued The Slytherin Queen.
" Amy, we need to tell at least snape about this. This snake, or whatever it is. People are going around thinking they are safe because of their blood. It's a violent creature and won't see if you are pure blood or mudblood. If you look it in the eyes. You are dead."
Amy looked at the picture and then back at Jakob.
"No, we won't say anything about this yet."
Jakob looked bewildered at her.
" You are joking, right? What if Isabella or Marcus sees it? What if you see it on one of your prefect patrols?"
Amy shook her head.
" No, we won't tell anyone yet. It has only attacked a cat and a mudblood, and I see no problem in that."
"But tomorrow, it could be anyone, don't you get that?"
Mind your tongue. You are speaking to your queen." Amy said, glaring at the boy.
Jakob glared back at her for a few seconds.
" I came to you… I came to you and no one else because I trust you, and you would put yourself and others in danger because some-"
Enough!" Amy said and stood up.
"You are in effect but don't say something you might regret." she hissed at him.
Jakob had enough of this and stood up and turned to walk out.
He felt her hand grabbing him, and he turned around.
" Jakob, I do care about you, but you need to trust me. Can you do that?"
He met her eyes, who looked pleadingly at him, and the Slytherin boy sighed.
"Yes... My queen."
Amy smiled and walked closer to him, and embraced him.
" Our first fight, and I think we handled it quite well, don't you think?"
Jakob, who was still angry with her, did not respond.
" When did you get taller than me?" Amy switched and looked confused.
" I have been taller than you for a while," said Jakob, meeting her eyes again.
" No, I remember this summer. I was taller than you, and now you are taller than me?" Amy said, smiling as she got him talking to her again.
Jakob shrugged.
" Well, I find it very hot," she said and kissed him lightly on his lips until he started to kiss her back, and suddenly it felt like they never had fought.
That evening Jakob went back to moaning Myrtle's bathroom to see if she had some new information about the things that had happened. He brought the knife that was gifted to him by the Notts. He needed to test a Symbol he had seen on it.
He sneaked in and saw that she was in the same place, and when she noticed him, her sad, moaning face switched to a child's on Christmas morning and floated down.
"Victor, I missed you, and I have so much to tell you!"
Jakob smiled his charming smile and held up a hand to stop her.
" We will have time for that, but first, I want to know how the best ghost in Hogwarts is doing."
Myrtle, not used to the flattering, put up her hands and covered her mouth while she giggled, which Jakob found quite weird.
" I'm just fine, Victor and don't worry, I have not told anyone about our little secret. But there have been a lot of others here."
" I'm all ears, " said Jakob, leaning against a bathroom door.
"First, four students have been here, and they have been brewing a potion. They look younger than you, so they might be second years? They were all Gryffindors, and two of them were siblings. I. Think their names was passer… no wait losser…."
" Do you mean potter?" asked Jakob, and the ghost nodded.
" Yes, that's it. Potter. They were in here talking about some Quade and Malfoy, I think.
" Did they now…" said Jakob.
" Was there a bushy-haired girl with them?"
Myrtle nodded again.
" Yes, actually. How did you know that?"
"They are a famous group. Tell me, Myrtle, what did the busy-haired girl say?"
Myrtle thought for a minute.
"Nothing, really. She was busy making the potion while the other three were talking.
Hermione, you idiot, are you that blind? Thought Jakob and sighed.
Myrtle noticed it and saw Jakob's look of disappointment.
" Did I do something wrong?" she asked, a bit worried.
'
Jakob put his smile on again.
" You did wonderful, Myrtle. Did you know what potion they were making?"
The ghost floated around Jakob with a smirk on her lips.
" No, I don't, but they hid it in that stall over there."
Jakob looked over to where Myrtle was pointing, walked over to the stall, and opened the door.
He saw a cauldron, and it was a freezing charm over it.
He lifted the lid and saw that it was a Polyjuice potion in it was about halfway done.
Jakob thought about sabotaging it, but then he would never find out what the Gryffindors were up to.
He could ask Hermione, who had promised to be his spy, but he doubted that it would mend their wounds if she was forced to betray her friends.
" I will just have to wait and see," whispered the Slytherin, closed the lid and walked out again where Myrtle was waiting.
" Hey Myrtle, have you seen someone talk in that funny language you spoke about last time?
" No, I have not heard anything. Or... I did hear something, but at this time, I'm usually too busy with moaning and being sad."
Jakob had to really discipline himself from rolling his eyes at the girl and putting on his smile.
"very well then," he said and walked closer to the ghost girl.
"Myrtle, do you enjoy being a ghost? Do you enjoy haunting this place?
The girl looked a bit confused and floated closer to him.
"What do you mean, Viktor? I enjoy being in this castle, and I enjoy the company of the other ghosts."
Jakob nodded and took a step closer to her.
" The thing is Myrtle. My name is not really Victor. It's Jakob. Jakob Quade."
The ghostly girl went from a smile to looking confused and then pained.
She looked down and saw a glowing red knife cutting into her. Not just passing through her. It was buried inside her stomach.
"What... what is happening to me."
Jakob looked her in the eyes with a neutral face.
" You were in the wrong place at the wrong time Myrtle, and you would find out sooner or later about my real identity, and I can't have that. Your time here is done. You are going to the afterlife now."
He pulled out the knife, and Myrtle fell to her knees. She held her stomach and started to cry while she looked down at her stab wound.
"It does not feel like it... it feels wrong... it feels like I'm dying." said the girl and slowly faded away. She said with a pained voice.
Jakob looked at the last image of the Ravenclaw ghost, and when she finally had disappeared into the nothingness that awaited, he whispered.
"It was because you were dying. Ghosts are only a mere picture of what the soul once has been. There was no afterlife for you."
He then turned around to the sink and walked forward while pocketing his knife inside his robe.
"Open."
Authors note: I felt bad about Myrtle. she was only a lonely girl who had begun to care for Victor. But Even if Jakob has his good sides, he also has his bad ones.
