Fearsome Horrifying Spirit

Having been deeply upset and hurt by Sans' words that he bluntly blurted out without thinking, Frisk had run out of Toriel's house and headed for one of his favorite places in the Ruins; the room where the entire floor is filled with leaves that he can jump into. Whenever he's feeling bad, he always comes here to jump high and land in the leaves, melting all of his negative emotions away in a spray of colorful leaves flying into the air. Sitting on the edge where his feet dangle over, slowly kicking them back and forth, something stops him from doing what he usually does, something that goes farther than a simple negative feeling weighing him down; what Sans had said to him had rubbed in the fact that as a human, he himself has no magic powers and abilities like his friends have. He saw the tricks that Sans and Toriel had done to each other, something that would be impossible for him to do, and wishes he could also do such a thing as well. What's not helping him with this situation is the fact that while wearing the little costume Toriel had made for him, he was called cute and wouldn't be able to scare anyone because of his cuteness. He crosses his arms and puffs his cheeks out as far as his skin and muscles will allow him to, feeling ashamed to be cute rather than scary. "No fair, I want to trick the others…" he thinks out loud to himself while looking into the room below.

He kicks his feet harder and harder; the force of his legs loosens up the knot in the laces of his right shoe and with one final angry, hefty kick, flings it off his foot and into the wall in front of him. It bounces off and falls into the leaf pile below, disappearing from sight. This makes him dive in after it, falling face first; a loud crunch follows upon landing along with a bunch of these vivid red leaves fluttering up into the air gently. From the room above, it doesn't appear that it'd be quite deep but it's highly deceiving and he has to "swim-walk" his way through to where he last saw his shoe before it went under. Using both of his hands, his pushes and shoves the never-ending pile of crunchy leaves out of his way, hoping to find where it went. As he pushes them away, he notices something strange hiding under them; removing the leaves from what it is, he ends up uncovering a rather familiar friend that he doesn't see too often lying on the ground. He wasn't expecting to see him here of all places and his ghastly voice greets him. "...oh, hi Frisk. i didn't think you'd end up finding me here." his big, round black eyes with a white center look away. "this is kind of awkward…"

His eyebrow raises a little. "Napstablook, what're you doing here?"

He looks back at him, a frown on his face. "i was just lying in the leaves, feeling like lonely garbage. it's another family tradition of mine, want to join me?"

He shakes his head "no". As much as he likes hanging out with the cool, music loving ghost, he doesn't have time for feeling like lonely garbage. "Sorry, maybe another time." Knowing that he's here, perhaps he's seen where his shoe went. "Hey, have you seen my shoe? I kicked it off my foot and now I can't find it." he pulls his left foot up out of the leaves to show him, and he gently floats up off the ground to look at it.

"i didn't see anything like that here, but i did hear something fall close to me. would… would you like me to help you look for it?"

A cheerful smile comes out of him. This room is quite big and having someone to help look for it would make it ten times easier. "Thank you, I could really use the help." He scratches the top of his head with his right hand. "It can't have gone too far. I know it's in here somewhere." He goes back to looking through the leaves to find it while Napstablook starts floating through them since he's a ghost and he can phase through them. As they look, they have a small conversation. "Blooky, are you doing anything this Halloween?"

"halloween? that's today? o-oh… i kind of forgot that was today…"

"Don't worry, we still have lots of time before the real event starts. I'm sure you can come up with something before then! Oh yeah, are you going to the party at Sans and Papyrus's house in Snowdin later tonight?" He doesn't know that he wasn't invited because the day invitations were given out, he wasn't at home and never got it. It's not like it really matters though, he's not one for parties and social events.

"you guys are having a party? that's nice, but i think i'll stay home; i'd probably just bring everyone's mood down by being there…" he's not facing him, but a couple of tears start to form in the corner of his eyes.

He picks his head up out of the leaves and looks at him. "You didn't get an invitation…? I thought Papyrus handed them out to everyone…" he doesn't understand how he could've missed Blooky. Sure, he might not be cheerful most of the time and doesn't have too much to say either, but he's still a nice friend who makes great music and has a spirit of gold. It wouldn't be fair for him to miss out on a nice gathering of all their friends in wacky, cool, spooky costumes; Halloween only comes once a year and it's best to make each one count. "This only happens once a year, are you really sure you want to miss this? I'm sure Mettaton will be there." He knows that him and Mettaton are extremely good friends and while it's slightly unkind of him to use this as a means of persuading him to come, he doesn't have any other ideas on how to get him to go in mind.

"mettaton is supposed to be there? that'd be nice to go and see him, but he probably wouldn't be able to go… oh… he's always too busy for these things…" he suddenly passes by the shoe that they're both looking for and stops next to it. "ah… i think this is what you're looking for…" he hovers over it and waits for him to walk through the leaves to reach him.

"Yes, that's it! Thank you so much!" He bends down to pick it up and slips it onto his foot, tying the laces up as tight as he can get them to be so that it has no chance of coming loose once again. After that, he stands up and attempts to give him a little hug but in this moment of joy, he forgets that he's a ghost and completely phases through him to lose his balance and fall face-first into the leaves. He turns around to see his human friend slowly sinking deeper into them.

"are you okay?"

He giggles for a second at his own silliness. "Yeah. I just forgot that I can't hug you because you're a ghost."

He looks down a little, upset that he can't be hugged by him. "oh..." he then notices the unique hoodie and looks back up "...hey, what are you wearing? It kind of looks like me…"

He stands up and his hood flops down over his head as he brushes a few leaves off that got stuck to him with his hands. Though there are a select few things that amuse the introverted, lonely ghost, he actually allows a small smirk on his face for a brief moment at the sight of his costume. He pushes the hood back and shakes a few leaves out of his hair before responding. "Oh, this?" he motions to his hoodie, and he nods "yes". "Mom made it for me to wear at the party later on." This reminds him of the reason why he came here in the first place. "Although, it isn't scary, is it… I was told that I'm too cute to be scary and even when I tried to be scary, it didn't work." he holds his hands up like he did back at Toriel's house. "Booooooo…" there's no real enthusiasm behind it but somehow, this actually scares Blooky a bit.

"O-oh… you're scaring me… that's quite creepy…" he floats back from him a little. "you're scarier than most I know…"

He doesn't believe him, thinking that he's pretending to be scared to make him feel better. "Thanks, but you don't have to act like I'm scary." He falls backwards into the leaves and spreads his arms and legs out, disappointed and upset at the conundrum he's troubled with. "Gaaaahhh! I don't want to be cute; I want to be scary! I want to scare Mom, Dad, Sans, Papyrus, and all the others!" he raises his hands up and slams them down, casting a bunch of leaves all over the place. A few of these land on his face and he blows them off to see his ghost friend floating over him.

"...i actually think you're scary in that costume." it gives him an idea. "...maybe i can help you be even scarier… i am a ghost after all..."

He sits up, curious to know what his idea is, though he has a couple doubts. "Blooky, you're the least scary monster that I know. I'm glad you helped me find my shoe, but I don't know if you can help me with this one."

"...i can be really scary; i just don't act that way because i end up scaring myself sometimes and it makes the others cry a lot…" This makes his eyebrow raise as high as it can go. It should be impossible for a ghost to be able to scare itself when much of what he knows about ghosts from being on the surface is about them being scary and evil. Of course, Blooky is neither of these, but he's never seen him act scary before so he might have to hold back some of his doubts. "let me try…" he suddenly disappears into thin air without any warning, leaving him all alone in the room.

"Uhh… Blooky? Umm, maybe you should've let me know before trying to sc-" the room suddenly goes completely dark as what sounds like a big breath of air whooshes around, being blown by something he can't see, extinguishing all the torches providing light in the room at exactly the same time. He's left in complete darkness and normally, he's not afraid of the dark in any shape or form, but for some reason he's unnerved and anxious by the instantaneous change. He tries to call out to him in the hopes that he'll hear him and stop. "Okay... haha, you've got me… I'm quite scared by what you've done already." His tone is quite antsy and shaky. "Please stop, I don't like this." but he gets absolutely no response. He stands up, and though his eyes, now open, are of little help, he makes out vague shapes in the distance moving through the leaves that are unidentifiable due to the fact his pupils are still adjusting to the darkness. He takes a couple steps back, leaves crunching under the soles of his shoes, and a few shudders come from him. "This isn't funny anymore, please stop!" he shouts, clenching both of his fists in front of his chest, managing to force that sentence out as fear slowly grips him with each passing second.

A loud rustling in the leaves from behind him grabs his attention and he whips his entire body around in the direction it came from to see what it is, but there's nobody there whatsoever. On his right shoulder, he feels something eerily warm press itself onto him and he jumps back and looks in the direction that came from. Nothing. "Napstablook, stop! This is too much for me! I know you can hear me, knock it-" a ghostly, unfamiliar "oooh" echoes throughout the room, sounding like it's deep inside his own eardrums from how loud it is. His eyes glance in every direction and any little thing that appears to move grabs his attention. More eerie sounds flow in from every corner of the room as the leaves continue to rustle and shuffle with the movement of some entity he can't see thanks to the darkness. His entire body is now shaking in fear, unsure of what to expect now. With force and a cracking, panicked voice, he screams. "THAT'S ENOUGH!" while backing up and his back hits the wall behind him, scaring him and making him yelp a high-pitched scream for a moment before he realizes he scared himself. He takes a deep breath in and releases it after a few seconds in order to slightly calm himself down, but what he doesn't know is that Napstablook is a few feet behind him and, unlike how he normally looks, he's completely different and would definitely haunt his nightmares for weeks on end, appearing horrific, terrifying, abnormal, and truly the definition of "Scary". His entire appearance is nightmare fuel, and the poor boy, feeling like he's being watched by someone or something, freezes in place. Every muscle in his body chokes all at once and against his will, he's unable to move as the monster closes in for the real scare.

A whole bunch of magical tears, similar to the ones that he used when he first encountered him in the Ruins, slither through the leaves and across all the walls, painting them with their white, ghostly, mystical plasma, further freaking out the already scared human. A few of them drip down onto him, their cold embrace instantly sinking deep into their skeleton and making him finally lose it. He puts his hands on his head, screams, and run away in the hopes whatever is there won't chase him. He runs around in circles, panicked and unable to discern left from right, terrified out of his mind. Having seen enough, Blooky decides to finally reveal himself the moment he stops running and with a hearty, ghostly, spine-chilling tone that's strong enough to scare even fear itself, he pops up out of the leaves in front of their face and screams. "BOOO!" Frisk is so scared by this that he practically jumps himself out of the room and back to the one above him, landing on his back and in a panic, scoots himself to the wall and hyperventilates.

All of the torches simultaneously light themselves again and the familiarity of the purple bricked Ruins comes back to him, though it doesn't quell the panic boiling inside of him. He claws at the oversized hood and tries his best to hold it over and hide his face as he falls to his side in a fetal position of sorts, rocking back and forth, trying not to cry from how hard he had been scared by Napstablook, who floats up and notices what he managed to do to him. "...oh no… i went too far…" He doesn't get a response from him and all he can hear coming from him is muffled tones of pants-wetting terror. He gets more upset than ever before, having remembered why he doesn't do these things in the first place, and some tears drop from his eyes. Unlike before, these tears don't crawl and scuttle across the ground; they simply disappear on contact. "oh no... i made you too scared... oh nooooooooooooo." he starts to slowly fade away to leave and give him time to calm down, but he's unexpectedly stopped by his human friend suddenly going silent.

"N-no…" he says as he slowly gets up and sits with his legs crossed over each other, though his head is held down so there's no chance his face can be seen. "I-I'm okay." Underneath his hood, a massive smile, standing from ear to ear and open, sparkling eyes marvel at how scary he was. "That…" he jumps up and his hood comes off. "WAS AMAZING! HOW DID YOU DO THAT!?" he looks at him with an extremely excited look and eyes wide open. "YOU HAVE TO TEACH ME HOW TO BE SCARY LIKE THAT!" he hops up and down in place rapidly, wanting to know every last detail on how he did it.

He's not used to such praise and his ghostly cheeks flush up a little while his tears stop. "oh gee… i'm glad that you're alright after that. i'm surprised that you think i was scary. i used magic to do all those things to scare you…" Which makes his wide smile and sparkling eyes change to a frown and dull luster.

"I… figured that…" he sits back down with his hands on either side of his cheeks, resting his head in his palms. "I don't have magic of my own, I'll never be able to do something like that." his gaze shoots up at him for a few moments, then travels across the ground, only for it to jump back to him with a new idea forming in his head. If he can't use magic, what if he gets someone to help him, someone that can use magic to make him appear scarier… and the solution is floating right in front of him. "I got it." he stands up, ready to tell him his idea. "Blooky, you're able to use magic to make creepy things happen, right?"

"yeah."

He makes a fist with his right hand and gently plants it into the palm of his left one. "What if, you and I were to become one being and with your powers and my loud voice, we went around haunting the others!?"

He's not so sure about it, although he sees some potential to have fun with this idea. If he's being scary with Frisk around, perhaps it won't be all that bad and he'll be able to stay calm. "i guess we could try…"

"Yes!" he holds his right fist up in front of his face happily, but there's one problem at hand. "Okay, so now we need to become one being. I don't know how we're supposed to do that…"

He looks at his hoodie and notices that it looks awfully close to what he normally looks like and this gives him the solution they're looking for. "i think i could possess your hoodie and nobody would be able to know it's me… i wonder…" he starts floating towards him, ready to try it out.

He remembers when Mad Dummy became corporeal that one time from losing a game of cards they played a long time ago. "WAIT!" he stops in place. "What happens if you can't get out of it, won't you be stuck being my hoodie for the rest of time?" This is a good point, one that he hadn't thought of either. The thing that he doesn't know is that, unlike Mad Dummy, Blooky has no desire to find a fitting vessel for his spirit, so he won't get trapped inside his hoodie.

"oh… it will be ok. i'll be able to come out when we're done." he suddenly turns into a white ball and shoots himself at him, going straight into the hoodie and possessing it. Upon laying his spirit deep into the fleece fabric surrounding him, a cool, chill sensation swamps over his body; it's not mind-numbingly cold, or even cold enough for that fact of the matter to make him feel chilly, just pleasantly cool. Oddly, he feels an unusually deep level of sadness swamping over him, though ironically, it's not affecting him and dragging his mood down. Regardless, the hoodie now has a more translucent appearance to itself now, and on the hood, blooky's eyes and mouth appear. "gee, this feels quite comfortable actually."

Through happily clenched teeth, he giggles in a mischievous, naughty tone for a few seconds. He's ready to explain his plan that the two of them will execute to scare all of their friends and he rubs his hands together. "Okay, so, what we're going to do…"

The spooks are coming!
