Huntsmen and Huntresses.
These are considered to be hero's to most, their even considerd as idol's for some people to look up to.
And it's understandable, they fight the Grimm they make sure humanity is safer but that's not the only reason they are held in such a high regard.

People need other's to rely on other's who are stronger, skilled and better overall.
It's simply in their nature to turn to those superior to themselves.
They look up to them because they accomplish things they themselves are unable to.

But what makes a good Huntsmen or Huntress.
Passion?Commitment?A sense of Duty?

No,it's power.
Power is what is needed in this world to survive,it's something everyone wants.
It comes in many diffrent forms,be it possessing political power, power through money or just raw power.
Power was the most important factor in this world.

Power is the ability to make things happend, without it your just as worthless as another face in the crowd.

That's all that matterd in the world...Power.

TO BE OR NOT TO BE?

"What is even the point of this?"Keir spoke in astonishment.

"Well it's a spear that can transform into a all the other weapons it can be used for melee and far range."Another voice explained.

"I don't get it,spears are already used as far reaching weapons so what's the point of adding a gun to it?"

"For further reach, sir."The exasperated voice said.

Keir merely shook his head as he examined the other weapons on display.

After the events of the heist held with Dominic Keir had decided to stay in the city for a while, still unsure of what he wanted to he did have one pseudo goal in mind.
He hadn't done much in the past few days, only sleeping at the hotel he was booked in and occasionally exploring the big was of course much to see,all the diffrent shops atleast kept him moderately interested.

Which is why he found himself inside a weapon shop,it displayed various diffrent weapons.
Keir mostly just used old fashioned weapons so seeing new ones were interesting, but he couldn't help but find some of these weapons absurd.

"What's this one do?"Keir asked as he pointed at a mechanical looking axe.

"Well if I remember correctly once the mechanisms is activated the axe transforms into a shotgun that fire's any loaded dust round's."The store clerk quickly explained.

"A shotgun?Absurd, next your gonna tell me there's a scythe that turns into a rifle."Keir said with a shake of his head, these weapons were getting more absurd by the minute.

It made him glad that he stuck with simpler weapons.
He had no need for fancy weapons when he could easily achieve similiar result with just the use of his speaking of which,

"Right, how much does weapon modification cost?"Keir suddenly asked.

"Well it mostly depends on how you modify your weapon and how much."The clerk explained.

"I see, then I want you to modify this sword."Keir said as he reached for the sword that was gifted to him by the villiage chief a while back.

"So what kind of modifications would you like for this sword?"

"Make it bigger."

"Pardon?"

"I want the blade size to be larger in length and breadth as well as the handle of the possible I want it the same size as this one."He finished while gesturing to the sword still on his back.

"But with all the materials added to the sword,it would make it too heavy to swing and you would hardly be able carry it around."

"I'm carrying this one just fine aren't I?So how much is it gonna be?"

"Well I'll have to get started on the blade first, you can come back in about six hours then we can discuss a price."The clerk said as Keir nodded.

He exited the shop as he once again walked onto the bustling street's.

"Guess I got some time to to do."As if to answer his question his stomach was growling."Right, food would be nice."

Within his helmet his eye's scanned through the street's as it quickly landed on what looked like a cafe.
Even from here he could smell the delightful aroma of pastry's.

It was a cafe lodged between two larger buildings,it's interior was a bright green.
It seemed bustling with people as well.
Although Keir wasn't a fan of crowded spaces,he was in no mood to walk to another place just to get something to eat.

So he swiftly made his way to the entrance before walking through.
The insides were much bigger and seemed more like a fancy restaurant than a cafe, added with the fact that it was bustling with people.
It seemed full, perhaps he should find another place to eat.

"Uhm,good afternoon sir."A nervous voice reached his ears.

He looked to his side to notice a girl, she was dressed in what seemed like a green uniform.
She also seemed nervous,it could be that she was new or perhaps it was his armor that intimidated her.

"Place seemes still any seats left?"

"Unfournatley there aren't any, if you wait a momment we could ask some of the less crowded tables if they'd be willing to share their space."The girl suggested without missing a she really wanted to get this conversation over with.

Keir merely nodded his head as the girl quickly darted off.

He heaved a slight sigh as he folded his arms and waited.

"When I get my sword back, what should I do next?"Keir asked himself.

He still had no idea what he wanted to do so he was just winging it at this point.
He had no goal nor purpose.

Sure he could just go back to traveling and doing any job he came across, but just how long would that cycle continue?
Honestly it already drove him mad,he'd rather just stay in one place.
But what exactly was he planning on doing, just sleeping all day?Although that did sound appealing it was a boring existence.

With his magical prowess and strenght he could accomplish so much,he could do thing's other's couldn't.
But what was it he wanted to accomplish.

His thoughts didn't continue as he noticed the girl approaching him once again.

"I have good news! One of our customers said they wouldn't mind sharing as long as you didn't disturb them."The girl quickly spoke.

"Lead the way then."Keir said as the girl walked to where the shared table would be,Keir trailing behind her.

The table in question was located in the far back next to a large window.
It was long and narrow and filled with various deserts with someone seated on one side of the table, busy stuffing their face.
But that hair looked familiar...

"This will be your shared table, you just wait a momment then a waiter will swiftly be down here to take your order."The girl said as Keir merely nodded.

And with that she once again darted off.

Keir approached the table as the person stuffing their face finnaly noticed him.

"The fuck are you doing here!?"Quinn exclaimed as she wiped her mouth, looking at the knight in the place was bustling with noise so her little outburst went unnoticed.

"I'm here to eat, same as everyone else."Keir responded as he took a seat opposite of her.

"Tch,Thought you would skip town."Quinn said as she went back to eating.

"Saw no point in it,but I must admit I'm surprise to see you here."

"Eh?Why's that?"She asked with a raised eyebrow.

"Thought you'd be taking the Acedamy entrance exams by now."

"Exams don't begin till next week."

"That so?Intresting..."

"What's so intresting 'bout it?"

"I might consider participating in this exam."Keir simply couldn't help but stop eating in slight surprise.

"What? You?Are you even the right age?Do you even have a semblance and aura? And why the hell would you even wanna take the exams?"

"Asking an awful lot of questions there,Quinn."

"Tch,just shuddup and answer!"

"I can't answer if I shut myself up."

The only response he received from Quinn was what sounded like a if he eventually relented as he deceided to stop messing with her and answer.

"Well if you must know, currently I lack purpose."Keir began and as expected he received a confused stare from Quinn."Most of my life I just travel around, doing jobs for a meager amount of money.A shitty way to live but I was content with it...until recently. I'm looking for something fulfilling, and perhaps the life of a Huntsmen can provide that fulfilment."Keir stated, although that was only partially why he would take the exam' was a far more important reason for why he wanted to go to this Academy.

"Fulfilment..."The words sat on Quinn's lips as she wore a thoughtful expression.

"Something wrong?"

"It's I don't think I've ever heard someone wanting to become a Huntsmen of Huntress for fulfilment."She spoke and her tone seemed slightly less agresive.

"That so?"

"You who ever wanted to become a Huntsmen only want three things, money, glory and power,no matter how innocent their motives all eventually want the same hell it ain't like I'm all that different."

"So you say..."Keir mutterd as he stared out of the window.

"So if you wanna become a Huntsmen then I'm guessing you've already got your transcripts ready."Quinn spoke up again.

"Huh?"

"You do atleast have transcripts,right?"

"Nope."

"Are stupid or somethin'?"The girl couldn't help but ask in slight disbelief."You can't enter the exams without 'em"

"Then how do I get these transcripts?"

"You don't just get a transcript, there's a whole ass process you have to go through but there is an easier way of getting 'em"

"Easier way?"

Scanning around with her eye's Quinn made sure no one was listening when she leaned closer to Keir.

"Well it's the same way me and Luna got paid for some forged transcripts."She whispered to him."It's fucking expensive though, but it's realistic enough to fool almost anyone."

"Where can I get it?"

"Can't say now."She said leaning back into her chair."After I'm done eating then I can take you to the place."

"But why are you even bothering to help me?Isn't this just extra trouble for you?"Keir couldn't help but quiestion,Quinn hardly seemed like the type to help someone out of the goodness of her heart, but then again it's not like he's known her for long.

"Tch,I'm doing this because I ain't got nothing better to do that's I'm not doing this for free, after I help you it means you owe me one."She explained while going back to stuffing her face with was honestly surprised that she could even eat this much desert.

But atleast he had means to enter the exams.
There was a reason for his increase in interest in the Huntsmen Acedamy, and it was not just the free food and free place to stay,no it was something more.
See a few day's prior Keir was on a Bullhead that acted as a kind of tour guide for the Kingdom of Vale, the Bullhead was fast and showed up on some impressive places to display to those who came to Vale for the first time
The Emerald forest,Forever Fall Forest, some diffrent districts and of course the ever prestigious Beacon Acedemy.

Beacon Academy, even from the far distance he sensed something there.
Although he used it,he was by no means an expert on the subject of magic, however he was extremely sensitive to it.
And he sensed something in that Academy, however he didn't know for sure if it actually was magic, like mentioned before he was no expert.

But if his suspicions proved true then more magic elements existed in the world.
Of course he never thought he'd be the only magic user, his mother could use it,his brother's to some extent too.

But now that he really thought of it,why were they able to use it?Magic seemed like a foreign concept to most people,it seemed like something that never really they could use this foreign power to some extent, maybe lineage had something to do with it?If so then how far back would it trace?

He sighed slightly beneath his helmet.
Despite her teaching him how to use it,his mother never really did explain the origins of he was a child at the time and the thought of mastering some power had him excited.
But in all honesty he'd rather not have magic at all, magic had unforseen effects on some studded growth, turned hair a pale white and messed with the body to a large degree, mutating worse of all for some reason he could never unlock his aura,no matter what method he tried nothing ever seemed to work.

He had no idea why these effects took place, perhaps it's because their bodies were never meant to harness the extraordinary power of magic.
But he found himself asking again 'where exactly did magic come from?'

For him to answer that quiestion he needed to investigate.
If that Academy held something magical then that was reason enough to go.

He was quickly snapped out of his thoughts when Quinn's voice reached him.

"Hey I'm can go."She declared,Keir examined the numerous empty plate's before sure could eat.

But he hadn't gotten anything to eat yet,the waiter had not showed up.
How unfortunate he was rather looking forward to eat some desert.
But alas he would have to eat desert another day.

"Right,lead the way then."

Quinn quickly paid for her meal as the two exited the cafe and walked onto the open street's.
They must've been quite the intresting duo seeing as they were attracting quite a bit of attention, made sense here some bulking armored knight fellow was walking with some short girl with overgrown likely a comedic sight.

"Oh right I nearly forgot but where's Luna?Thought you two would be sticking together."

"We are, she's just off doing God knows what."Quinn merely said with a shrug as they continued walking.

Their walk continued in silence for a while until Quinn spoke up again.

"The guy we're going to owns a club in the industrial district of Vale so we'll have to take a bullhead, once we reach it keep quiet and let me do the talking, okay?"Quinn stated.

Keir raised an eyebrow beneath his helmet, with her personality he wasn't sure that was a good idea, but hey she was the expert.

"Alright."

After that they had no problem boarding a Bullhead and immediately heading for the industrial district.
Nothing of much note happend on their trip until they reached what looked like a club.

The building itself was an old brick building with arched windows. The entrance was a pair of large sliding doors that open automatically, strangely enough their seemed to be no guards upfront or any kind or security.

"Yeah I know, the place looks like you ought to get what need from the owner of the place."Quinn stated as the two walked on through.

A dance floor was directly ahead, down a flight of large crystalline pillars surrounded the floor, with the DJ's booth located on the opposite side from the entry stairs.A long bar was along the left side of the dance were several balconies along the walls overlooking the dance floor, connected by the dance floor on the ceiling was a rotating ring shaped rig of light, laser and holographic projectors were mounted on fixed rigs between the columns.

"Looks like a club."Keir noted while staring around.

"Yeah no place act as an legitimate business but in actuality it's serves as a kind of headquarters for the Xiong Family."Quin informed.

"Xiong Family?"

"Part of a syndicate but they ain't 're here for diffrent reasons, the guy who runs this joint ought to be able to get you your transcripts."She said she started walking to the booth that served drinks with Keir following behind her.

Nightclub's weren't Keir's forte,he honestly didn't like any kind of crowded place.
But places such as these had their uses, bustling clubs were usally a good place to gain Intel, from what he heard at least.
But looking at the place, all the unnecessary light, loud crappy music, and just alot of then the people, they were dancing like a bunch of drunk hooligans and they were dressed so inappropriately.

He supposed people came to nightclubs to let loose or something but they could atleast show some decency.

But he let those thoughts wander as they reached the booth, with the bartender quickly noticing the two.

"Sorry no children allowed."He said while staring at Quinn, who in turned glared at the man.

"Start with those shitty joke again, and I swear I'll shove my boot up yo-"

"Whoa, whoa no need to get violent Madelyn,it's just a goof."He said sheepishly cutting her off.

Quinn merely clicked her tounge as she took a seat infront of the booth with Keir following suit.

"Your joke's are shitty as always,Ted."

"C'mon now I'm an aspiring saying that just hurts my feelings."He said in mock hurt.

"Tch,better give up on your dreams then."She spat out.

But something confused Keir, the bartender referd to her as Quinn an alias or just her last name then?
He'd have to ask her later if she was willing to answer.

"You sure know where to hit where it hurts, Madelyn."He said with a shake of his head."But anyway care for a drink?"

"We're here for Junior, got some business we wanna discuss."Quinn stated while Ted's eye's finnaly landed on Keir.

"Damn, didn't know you nabbed yourself a cosplayer."He said slightly amused."What are you suppose to be?Some demonic knight from hell?Man you sure know how to pick 'em, Madelyn."

"Fucking idiot."Quinn growled under her breath."So where the hell is Juniour?"

"Well the boss should be down in a few minutes for an important the mean time can I get you two some drinks?"He offerd.

"Fine I'll have a Cosmopolitan."

"Water."

Not questioning their orders he swiftly left and just as swiftly returned with their drinks in hand.
He proceeded to tend to other customers as the two were left to their own devices.

"So,Madelyn your real name?"

"Yeah...Madelyn 's my full name."She said as she finished her drink in one go.

"I see,it's a nice name."

"Whatever..."She replied disinterestedly.

A few momments of silence passed before the now named Madelyn spoke up again.

"So what about yours?"She suddenly asked."Ain't no way 'Keir' is not a made up name."

"It's not exactly made was an alias my late teacher used from time to time."Keir informed.

"Your teachers, if it's an alias then what's your real name?"

"Honestly?I Forgot,I went by the name 'Keir' for a while now and I ended up forgetting my name."Keir stated and Quinn couldn't help but look at him surprised.

"Ah?How the he-"She was interupted by her stomach suddenly clutched it with her arm,a pained expression on her face."G-Goddamnit ate too much."She spoke with a shaky voice."I really gotta go take a shit."She quickly announced before she jumped of her seat and bolted to where the bathrooms would be.

"..."

Seems the universe saved him from having to answer any more questions.
He didn't like talking about himself, hence the reason he began seeing as he wasn't going on that path anymore then he supposed lying was the next best thing he could do.

That's right Keir didn't forget his name,it's just that he prefferd the alias 'Keir' more than his original name.
But the part about his teacher was real.

He remembered her teachings well, unarmed training, sword training and any kind of endurance training.
She spared no effort in beating those lessons into him.
She was merciless, but not completely heartless atleast she wasn't to him.

But when he figured out what kind of person she really was he really didn't want anything to do with her anymore.
Hell if he saw her again he might just kill her.

Keir was taken out of his thoughts when someone plopped down next to him.

" Strawberry , and one of those little umbrellas."She ordered ignoring the bartenders comment about her age.

He noticed her lilac eye's scanning him,her eyebrow raised in this girl looked awfully familiar, when had he seen her before?

She took a seat next to quite the intresting looking guy.
His bulky armor was dope, something her sister would surely lose her mind over, especially that huge sword.

"Nice covering your face won't get you any girls."She commented next to him.

"And you assumed I was a guy because?"Keir questioned fully turning to his company.A young blonde girl, too young to be drinking in clubs but she certainly stood out in a place like this.

"Eh,call it a girl's see no girl would walk around in that much armor and besides with that husky voice your obviously a man."She finished with a smirk Keir didn't very much like.

The mysterious type's covering their faces always had a prize to her 'intuition' was telling her that the prize before her could be quite grand.
But his voice had a dull tone to it,as if he couldn't be botherd to go on living but she should easily be abel to get an reaction our of the man,she had to kill some time seeing as Junior didn't seem to be present.

"So,what's with the huge sword?Componsiting for something?"She asked with a grin.

Keir inwardly sighed,if he had one Lien for everytime someone made that joke he wouldn't need any kind of job.

"C'mon lighten up!I'm just kidding."The blonde said upon noticing his silence.

"Very should be a comedian."Keir stated dryly.

"I know right!"

Keir merely shook his head.
He just met her but he could already tell that he wouldn't be enjoying her company.
A good thing this was going to be the only time they would meet.

"But anyway what brought you to this joint?Looking to shoot your shot or are you just here to get drunk?"

"Neither."

"Oh?Then what are ya here for?"

"That's not for you to know."Keir didn't know why the girl took the time to talk to him,he really wished she didn't.
Because from the short time they talked he could already tell he wouldn't be enjoying this conversation.

"Aww,your no fun."She said with a pout.

"Was there an actual point to this conversation or were you just board?"

"Oh I see one if those dark and brooding type of guys, that explains your attitude towards me."She said in a tone Keir couldn't quite discern.

"And what exactly would this attitude of mine be?"

"You know, you don't seem interested in me."She said and Keir couldn't help but rise an eyebrow beneath his helmet

"There any reason I should be showing intrest in you?"Keir questioned.

"I mean I'm not one to brag but..."She ran her hand through her hair and a confident smirk graced her face leaning closer to the counter she seemed to have the desired affect as several men sent glances her way."...most guy's would never pass the chance to hit on me!"She said with great confidence.

"You seem rather confident in yourself."

"Of course I would be."She spoke once again in a tone of confidence.
It wasn't that she was prideful or anything it's just most of her teen life she's attracted the attention of most of the opposite gender hell even some of the same gender that anyone would grow as confident and proud of their natural looks like her.

But here this random armored guy was, speaking as if he couldn't be botherd enough to continue the conversation.

"I guess it would make sense if you swung the other way..."She spoke in a low tone.

It took a few seconds before Keir understood what she meant.
Shaking his head he spoke up.

"So you assume I swing the other way just cause I'm not interested in you?"Keir questioned not understanding her logic.

"Well yeah, kinda ."She answered as if it were that simple.

"Your full of it."Keir mutterd lowly before turning to the girl."Well you might wanna get those thoughts out of your head,I just don't find you 'attractive'."Keir emphasized in a way she would understand.

"Oh really?"She asked with narrowed eye's as she folded her expression was self-explanatory,she didn't quite believe him despite her being the first one to point out that he showed no interest.

It seemed strange in a way.
She'd never been told by a man that she wasn't found 'attractive',it wasn't exactly something she would lose sleep over but it sure as hell wasn't something she was use to.
Like mentioned before it was near impossible for guy's not to steal glances at her regardless of where she went,it was if it were the natural order of things.

"So there any reason you don't find me attractive?"She asked genuinely wasn't that she cared for the man's opinion but she was just curious as to what his reasoning was.

And he actually had a good reason.
His hormones were simply messed up.
To go more into depth explanation, magic messed up his body in more ways than hormones being one of them, his metabolism and homeostasis were mostly fine the real problems lied with his growth and development sleep-wake cycle, his mood and finnaly sexual function.
Although he's never experienced intercourse,it was something he had no interest or desire for.
Added to the fact that he never really experienced puberty due to the side effects magic had on his body.

With all this it was easy to understand his lack of interest on the subject of attraction.
Of course if he gave the reasoning to this girl,of course leaving out a few details she would probably understand his lack of interest.

But the girl's been nothing but a slight nuisance so his simple answer was...

"It's just you kinda look like a bimbo dressed like that..."He answered dryly not knowing about the beast he was soon to release by uttering those words.
