Chapter 17

"Ow!"

I shot up in my bed, my head spinning. My heart was pounding because I had been scared awake. I blinked seeing Aizawa standing there. He had Bakugo by the ear. He did not look pleased. He squeezed his ear tighter.

"Explain to me why you are in Yami's bed Bakugo."

"Aizawa-sensei it's my-"

He put his hand up. "No Yami I will get to you later young lady. Now, I am talking to Bakugo."

"OW! She asked me to," he said.

Aizawa looked at me surprised. "Yami, explain."

I pulled my knees to my chest. "I didn't want to be alone last night. He was just doing me a favor because I asked him to. So, it isn't his fault. All we did was sleep."

Aizawa sighed. "Fine. Go back to your room, and no more sleepovers in the girl dormitory."

"Fine," he grumbled, shooting me one last look before he left the room.

"What happened Yami?"

"Nothing." I lied.

"Do not lie Yami to me. You aren't very good at it. Besides, I can see it on your face," he said, sitting on the edge of my bed.

I looked him in the eyes. "I will do anything I said, my voice trembling. " I will give you All for one. Shigaraki, any other villain on your list you want desperately put away. Any of them. I will catch them all. Please… just not him." I said. My voice broke at that last part.

I could see the sadness in his eyes. He felt bad for me. I felt bad for myself.

He sighed. "Yami-"

"I can't do it. I can't hurt him. I can't do anything that will put him in harm's way."

"There will come a time when we will have to face him in a fight again Yami. He may not hurt you, but he will not hesitate to hurt or even kill any one of us. Are you okay with that? What if he were about to hurt me, or Bakugo and the other students?"

I swallowed the lump in my throat. I opened my mouth to speak but nothing came out. My head hurt.

"I don't want to see any of you get hurt-"

"But you don't want him to get hurt either." he finished for me. "You're going to have to choose a side Yami. You cannot straddle this line anymore. This is a dangerous game you are playing. I hope you make the right choice." he said leaving.

How could he say that to me? I had been making nothing but the wrong choices lately. He didn't know how difficult this was. I knew what the right decision was, but I didn't want to have to choose. My head and my heart were fighting and I couldn't make them stop. No matter what I chose I was going to end up hurt and so would someone that I care for.

I sat in the back of the class. Thankful that it was the last class of the day. Classes with All might were always the easiest. I was grateful for that because I wasn't in the right headspace to focus. I didn't see why I needed these classes anyway. The bell rang and I started to get my things together, but All might stopped me.

"Yami. Could you stay behind for just a while? I have something I want to talk to you about." he said.

I went to the front of the class, sitting at the desk in front of him. He pulled up a chair sitting in front of me. He was such a small tiny man. I wonder how he might have been the number-one hero at one point. Looking at him now, I would have never guessed. That was all I knew about him though. I had been so preoccupied with everything else, that I never really learned his story. I would be lying if I said I wasn't curious. Part of me wanted to take a peak into his head, but I didn't like invading people's privacy, and besides. I don't have control over it in the slightest. I used it once and wasn't able to turn it off for about a week. He gave me a small smile.

"We haven't had much chance to speak since you arrived here at UA Yami."

I nodded. "Sorry about that."

He shook his head. "No need to apologize. Students always have their favorite teachers. Aizawa is yours."

I smiled. "Yeah, I guess you could say that. He kind of acts like I dad." I laughed.

He laughed. "So I hear. I heard about the sleepover fiasco. He was not very happy about that."

A few short moments of silence passed between us before he spoke again.

"How are you Yami?"

I shrugged. "I'm alright." I lied.

"I see."

I sighed. "But if you are asking me how I am doing, that means you already know what's going on. Aizawa-sensei I'm assuming."

He nodded.

"Great."

"I've met him you know. All for one."

I looked up at him surprised. I was glad he hadn't called him my father.

"I'm sure you've seen a picture or two of how I looked before."

I nodded. "Yes, one of my classmates likes to carry some around.

He smiled. "I look very different now, and I am sure you wonder why."

"I do."

"All for one and I have a history. For the longest, I was the only one who could go toe to toe with him." He stopped talking. I could see him hesitating. " I'm going to tell you a secret Yami, but you must promise to keep it okay?"

I nodded. "Of course! I promise. I would never tell something told to me in private."

"It all started with this power. Called One For All. It is a transferable quirk. It has been passed down for generations. The creator of One For All was Yoichi Shigaraki. The younger brother of All For One."

My eyes went wide.

"Yes. The originator of this power is biologically your uncle. That among other reasons is why I feel as though you should know this secret. The creation of One For All came about when All For One forced a quirk into him because Yoichi was thought to be quirkless. Upon doing so, he realized he did have a quirk. Merging the two together, One For All was born. However, Yoichi was frail and too weak to use this newfound power of his. So, he did the only thing that he could. He passed it on to his successor. This quirk has been passed on for nine generations. The current user and my successor is Izuku Midoriya."

"The quiet boy with the green hair! What was his name? Deku?"

He smiled. "Yes. One For all is in perfect hands with him. However, it is a difficult quirk to master. If not mastered it can literally tear you apart when you try to use it. Broken arms, legs, fingers. Young Midoriya has dealt with it all and has never once complained."

It is the only one that can beat All For One. At least I thought it was the only way to defeat him. Until we discovered you. I heard what you did that night. You almost had him. I believe that you and Izuku together would be able to defeat him. You have a better chance than anyone. I would like for you too to meet at some point officially. I have already explained to him that I would be speaking to you. He knows about your relation to All For One as well. It was kept under wraps, especially from the other students, but I hope you understand why I told him. I'm sure there are some things about himself he would love to share with you. So, I will leave him to it."

"It's okay. I get it. I'd love to meet him. I heard he has a few quirks of his own. I'd love to see what that's like."

He smiled, having a coughing fit soon after. He pulled a handkerchief from his pocket, wiping the blood from his mouth. I was panicking. It was not normal for someone to be coughing up blood.

"Are you okay? Is there anything I can do to help!?"

He shook his head. " You see, I had been in possession of it for the longest out of all the successors. During that time it was when I fought All For One. That was when he managed to land a devastating blow to my side. Destroying half of my respiratory system."

He lifted his shirt showing me his side. I gasped. His side caved in. It was a dark purple color.

My shoulders sank. "But that means.." I whispered trailing off.

He nodded giving me a sad smile. "I will die soon. Hopefully not before One For All is defeated."

I grabbed his hand. "Maybe I can heal you?"

He set his hand on mine. "You cannot heal what is not there my dear. It is alright. I have made peace with it."

"There has to be something we can do!"

The classroom door slid open. It was Deku.

"Oh! I am sorry I didn't mean to interrupt."

A little girl was peeking out from behind his legs. She was blushing. A horn seemed to be growing out of her head.

"Midoriya, Eri please come in. I was just explaining to Yami what we had discussed earlier."

They came in, Deku closing the door behind him.

"Go on Eri, say hello," Deku said.

I stooped down to her level as she came out from behind him. She was so cute. She couldn't be that old. Six or seven maybe.

"Hi, I'm Yami. it's nice to meet you." I said holding out my hand.

"Hi, I'm Eri." She said, keeping her hands to herself.

"Don't take it personally. She doesn't really like to touch people because of her quirk. She's been working on it, but she hasn't really gotten a handle on it yet."

I smiled at her. "Well, that's alright. What's it called?"

She ran behind Deku, blushing again.

"She's really shy. She'll warm up to you in no time. Her quirk is called rewind. Basically, it can rewind someone's body to the way it was before. If they were injured in some way. Everything about them would revert. Essentially making them younger."

My head snapped in the direction of All might. "Did you know about this?"

There it was. That feeling inside me that desperately needed to help someone; to fix anything I could get my hands on.

He nodded.

"Eri's quirk could be very dangerous if she doesn't get under control. If she doesn't learn how you use it, she could potentially revert someone to the point where they never even existed. So, she isn't the biggest fan of touching people, besides myself and some others."

"I want to try. I understand quirks when I copy them it's like they can talk to me. I get them… It's basically in my DNA to do this. I'm sure I could do it if I try. I'm sure I could. No, I know I can do this."

I looked back and forth between Deku and All Might.

"We could try," Deku said hopefully.

I could tell by the sound of his voice that he wanted to do this, and he wanted it to work. I looked over at All Might, hoping that he would say yes.

He sighed. "Fine, but I do not get your hopes up."

I smiled. "Don't worry this will work."
