Invisible Ties

Chapter 10

I thought about what I would say.

And I know that I'm to blame

So go ahead and blame it on me.

I unlocked the doors and took Alaska's hand in mine.

She trusted me without hesistation. All of my kids did.

We went through the front door.

Brooke burst into tears. As Alaska called out to her mother.

The two finally reunited. Brooke looked over her daughter.

As Langston and Landon clung to their sister.

Brooke focused her gaze on her husband.

Lucas made it clear that as much as the family was thankful and grateful for the support the friends offered.

They needed time alone. It wasn't until the house was empty again.

And the kids were upstairs in their rooms.

Did Brooke begin to run down the questions she had for her husband.

"How did you know where to find her.?" Brooke asked.

Lucas sighed deeply. Looking back at her.

"Peyton called and told me." Lucas admitted.

Brooke's eyes went wide. Her body hot.

"What are you talking about.? We have no relationship with Peyton." Brooke replied.

"You have no relationship with Peyton." Lucas said.

Brooke crossed her arms around herself.

"What the hell does that mean.?" Brooke questioned.

"We rebuilt our friendship some time ago."

"Her dad wasn't as hands on as she needed."

"So i visited when i could. And talked on the phone."

"There is no reason to make this bigger then it is." Lucas stated matter of fact.

"So you keeping in contact with her and hiding it from me for god knows how long means nothing.?"

"Do you hear yourself!" Brooke.

"Last time i checked i'm you're husband! When are you going to outgrow this insecurity and lack of faith in me!" Lucas shouted.
