Chapter 7 Anniversary
It is Zuko and Lenetta's first anniversary of their couplehood. One year ago this day they declared their love for one another and kissed for the first time. He could remember it like it was yesterday; the feeling of immense happiness and love that he hadn't felt in a long time, except this was different. Their love for one another had only grown in the past year. And Zuko wanted this day to be perfect for Lenetta.
He had planned everything perfectly; all without his girlfriend knowing; he made sure of it. A servant came in and told him everything was ready. He thanked her and strode into the dining room. He asked the servants to prepare his and Lenetta's favorite foods and they were all laid out on the table. He lit the candles on the table with a flick of his wrist.
Lenetta walked in and she looked absolutely beautiful. She had her hair half up half down. Her top knot was held in place by the headpiece she had bought in the village several months ago. She wore red and gold robes that had flame accents and sleeves that billowed around her wrists. Her smile grew as she saw what was before her. Zuko rose from his seat and guided her into a seat. Zuko sat down across from her.
"Happy Anniversary baby." Zuko told her. Lenetta's eyes lit up and she reached for his hand, she squeezed it gently. "Happy Anniversary sweetheart." They smiled at each other as they began to eat. They talked about their days as they spent it mostly apart. Zuko had Fire Lord duties to take care of and she was with Azula, Mai and Ty Lee in town shopping. She had bought the robes she was currently wearing. She had wanted to surprise Zuko but he ended up surprising her.
"You look beautiful, Lenetta, but you always look beautiful to me." Lenetta blushed lightly and tucked her hair behind her ear. Zuko smiled fondly. "It was Ty Lee's idea to get a new outfit and to get dolled up like this." Lenetta told him. She was also wearing more makeup than usual. She had gold eyeshadow and black eyeliner on. She had red lipstick on as well as a light amount of blush. "Ty Lee did my makeup for me and Mai brushed my hair. Azula just watched and made sure they were doing it properly and made sure I looked as pretty as possible." Zuko nodded and smirked; he was happy his sister was finally able to do normal teenage girl things now. She was only fifteen after all.
Whenever they were finished eating Zuko and Lenetta went to the turtleduck carrying some bread. The turtle ducklings all came up to them quacking loudly. They sat down and began tossing bread crumbs to them. The ducklings ate away happily and it was very cute. Lenetta loved doing this with her boyfriend. He looked so happy and peaceful. He had told her that he and his mother would do this alot. He clearly loved his mother very much and she knew about what happened, how she disappeared one night. She wished they knew what happened so they could find her.
They sat there peacefully for a while just holding hands and enjoying each other's company and watching the turtle ducks play. They chuckled softly as two of the ducklings got into a tussle and the mother pushed them apart quacking loudly at them. Lenetta leaned her head on Zuko's shoulder as they watched the sweet sight. Zuko kissed the top of her head and leaned his head on top of her's.
An hour later they went back inside and got some chocolate cake and went out to a balcony that had a perfect view of the sunset. They finished their chocolate cake and watched the sunset while they spoke quietly. "Have you had a good anniversary?" Zuko asked her. Lenetta looked at him and smiled softly. "Yes, it was wonderful." Zuko smiled softly. "I wanted it to be perfect for you, cause I love you so much." Lenetta kissed him softly on the lips. "I love you too Zuko." Zuko kissed her again and they hugged. They stayed in that embrace until the sky was completely black, then they went inside and went to bed.
