Heyo, sorry this took a week. Guess I got caught up in other things. Here is a new chapter and another on the way!
They waited several hours, the sun was starting to set and they still had no word on her condition. She was alive at least, but nothing else. In the meanwhile, Tails had examined Manic's drum shaped medallion and compared it to Sonic's. Besides the physical appearance, he wanted to know what happened. He used his handy little computer called the Miles Electric to scan both objects and noticed something unusual. The drum shaped object had little to no energy at all, but the other shows a huge amount of chaos energy emitting from it. This is strange… he thought. Sonic and Manic were sitting on the couch just thinking, they don't know what to say to each other after so many years. Especially his new transformation. Knuckles went back to protect the Master Emerald with the information of a powerful attack from Eggman. Tails broke the silence when he asked Sonic a question…
"Sonic? What are these medallions exactly?"
"Uh… Well, They are basically instruments we used on the adventures I had with my sibs. If we work together, they can become weapons for us to fight. They were given to us by our mom and have a lot of power."
Tails looked back at his screen before pointing out, "We might have a problem then…"
The hedgehog brothers both looked up at him with a confused expression, almost identical before Manic spoke up.
"What is it?"
"I'm getting huge levels of Chaos energy from the medallion Sonic gave me, But Manic's has no Chaos readings whatsoever."
"What?! Impossible, bro!" Manic yelled.
"Look for yourself." He handed them both his screen which showed them that he was telling the truth.
"How? If Knuckles was here he wouldn't believe it." Sonic questioned.
"I don't know… If I remember correctly, to remove Chaos Energy like this you need a Chaos Emerald, right? That means-"
"Egghead has one and knows how to actually use it!" Sonic blurted out.
"He must've used it on your siblings to drain their medallions permanently!" Tails added.
Sonic looked deep in thought and looked away for a moment before whispering,
"So that's what mom meant about losing her powers…"
Manic hears this and asks,
"Huh? What about mom?"
"Uh, nothing." Sonic said a little too fast. Manic instantly knew something was up.
"Sonic? If something happened to mom, you better tell me right now."
Sonic gave out a sigh before answering,
"Look… Mom may or may not have given me her powers through a weird mind connection before she teleported Sonia to me."
"What?!" Both the green hedgehog and orange fox said in surprise.
The fox took back his ME and used it to scan Sonic himself. After the scan was completed, the readings showed that Sonic's energy readings were extremely higher than usual. Tails had only seen this kind of reading whenever he was in super form. He doesn't understand how this is possible without him going super, but this could be the reason for his other transformation earlier.
"Your energy readings are through the roof, Sonic! She must've had incredible power."
"Yeah… She showed it whenever we got in trouble."
Sonic starts to think back to the past, to where everything was just him and his siblings back home.
"I remember times where we would've failed if it wasn't for her. Of course she couldn't reveal herself directly, but she did try to help whenever she could. I just wished she would never run away before then."
"Same here, bro. But she had to…" Manic added.
"Yeah, yeah, I know. But still… Remember that time when Dingo broke a Chaos Emerald?"
"Oh, yeah! He went nuts because he didn't have a brain! Ha ha!"
"Wait, hold on. Who is Dingo? And did you say he broke a Chaos Emerald?!" Tails was scared the moment he heard that.
"Don't worry, little bro. We fixed the emerald and stopped him before anything happened." Sonic reassured.
"Oh, bro! What about that one time we crashed that wedding? That has got to most funniest thing we have ever done!"
"Oh yeah! I think that was the only time I enjoyed playing dress up with… Sonia…" Sonic paused.
The three sat in silence for a few moments before Sonic got up and started walking to the door,
"Sonic? Where are you going?" Tails wondered with worry.
"Well, I'm ready to go see sis. You coming?"
"What? Hey, wait for me bro!" Manic yells.
"Alright! I hope she's ok." Tails added.
They exited the house and started to walk down the path. Manic gives a confused look at Tails, something that Sonic said got him thinking. Did he call him his 'little bro'? What was that about?
"Hey, uh. Tails, was it?"
"Hm? Oh, yeah. What's up?"
"Did Sonic call you his bro back at the house?"
"Oh yeah, I was kind of adopted by him as a brother shortly after we first met."
"Really? But what about your parents?"
Tails slowed down to a near standstill. He doesn't really know what happened to his parents, they could be dead for all he knows.
"Hey, if you don't wanna talk about it-"
"No-... No, It's fine. It's just… I don't really know. I was left at a very young age and it was a little rough for me before Sonic came into my life."
"How old are you?"
"Eight years, almost Nine."
Manic was shocked after hearing what he just heard. Eight years old?! He's only a toddler!
"Eight?! You're really young. When did you meet him?"
"When I was four, I think."
"Four years… that was around the time he left…"
"Left? What do you mean?"
"Well-"
"Hey! Slowpokes, I'm waiting!" Sonic yelled his old line which Manic recognized. He smiled at first but turned into a frown when he looked back at Tails.
"Hey, what's wrong?" Sonic turned around and walked back to him.
"Nothing," Tails said a little too fast. Sonic then gave a scolding stare at Manic before Tails realized what Sonic was thinking.
"Manic didn't do anything before you say something. Let's just go see your sister." Tails started walking away down the path. Sonic watched as he did before looking back at his brother.
"What did you say to him?"
"I didn't mean to strike a nerve, dude. I just asked about his past and… parents."
Sonic deadpanned to face the direction Tails left.
"Look, I know you mean well. But do not bring stuff like that up again, ok?"
"Sure…" Manic said in defeat.
"Guys! Do you wanna see your sister or not?" Tails yelled across the land.
The two left and ran towards the village's local medical hospital with Tails to visit Sonia, unaware of a new spectator in the background watching them. Though, he isn't going to be a spectator for long. He was a completely white hedgehog looking down at them,
"Hang on, Sonic." The white hedgehog started to run down the hill he was spectating from to catch up to the others.
"There is something you never told us… Something that was used against you and all of us."
