Chapter 8: The Big Reveal: pt 3
In the absolute silence in the room, you could here a pin drop on carpet. While no words or sound came out of either of their mouths, their minds were screaming from the shock of what happened. Eventually, someone spoke breaking the awkward silence.
"Soooo...what brings you here, Mom?" Lyra asked trying desperately not to break down from the shame.
"Well um *clears throat* I just came to borrow a guitar pick from Lemy." Luna responded awkwardly as she looked over at Lemy's dresser, saw the pick and retrieved it. "I'd ask what you two were doing, but it seems pretty obvious."
"W-wait, Mom I-" Lemy said before being cut off by Luna, raising her hand.
"We will talk about this later. When Lincoln gets back." Luna said as she walked out of the room, closing the door.
Luna lean back and slid down the door, the weight of the situation finally coming down on her. Something she never expected to happen happened right in front of her eyes. She could only do one thing at the moment: call Lincoln.
Lincoln was on his lunch break, just finishing up his cup of coffee when his phone started ringing. It was Luna. Something that didn't happen very often. He being none the wiser, answered expecting a cute romantic call.
"Hey Sweetie! What's going on?" Lincoln asked.
"...Lincoln, we need to talk." Luna said with a worried tone.
"Is there something wrong?" Lincoln asked beginning to feel worried himself.
"*sigh* It's the kids."
"Did something happen to them?"
"...Are you alone?"
"I'll go into my office." Lincoln said rushing to his office, beads of worry sweat building on his forehead.
"Ok I'm alone. What's going on?" Lincoln asked fearing the worst.
If there's anything he inherited from his dad besides his cooking skills, it's his family anxiety. Anytime Lincoln hears something wrong is going on involving his kids, he goes into panic mode.
"*sigh* I can't find a better way to say this, but..." Luna said.
"But what!?" Lincoln asked.
"Lemy and Lyra are in a relationship."
"...Y-You mean like us?"
"Yeah. I walked in on them just now. During the last minute of the act."
"Oh God." Lincoln said falling back into his chair running his free hand through his hair. "What are we gonna do?"
"Lincoln...I think it's time."
"T-Time? A-Are you sure about that?"
"If not now then when? We've been keeping this secret for so long now. It's best we tell them now that they're in this kind of relationship."
"But it'll be such a shock for them. Telling them the truth might break them."
"I know, I feel the same. But we might as well rip the band aid off and deal with the pain later. They have the right to know."
"*deep sigh* You're right. At least we'll get this off our chests. We'll talk to them when I get back."
"Right. I'll see you later."
"Hey Luna."
"Yeah?"
"...I love you."
"*sniff* I love you too." Luna said as she hung up, fighting back the tears. "*shuddering exhale* What's gonna happen to our family?"
While Luna and Lincoln were weighing the option of telling them the truth, Lemy and Lyra were having their own mental breakdown.
"Fuuuuuuck!" They both screamed in their minds.
"I can't believe this. Of all things that could've happened, Mom walks in on us!?" Lemy thought in a panic. "What's gonna happen to us? Is she gonna make Lyra leave? No, anything but that. I can't imagine life without her. I have to find some way to convince Mom to let us stay together. Yeah! That should work, right? I hope."
While Lemy was spiralling overtly yet internally, Lyra sat on the edge of the bed, hands on her head with a horrified look on her face. Eyes wide open as if watching the end of the world happen right in front of her, with an aura of doom and gloom shrouding her face. But though she was frozen in body, her mind was at war with itself.
"Oh good God, what are we gonna do? This can't be happening! My beautiful romance with the boy I love, about to be ruined in one single moment!? This can't be happening, not now! Aaaaaah! What am I gonna do!?" Lyra thought.
"My,my. How the sinful weep." Angela said with a look that screamed I told you so.
"Angela? You're back?" Lyra thought.
"Of course. Most people never see sense until their whole world falls apart. And that's exactly how you feel right now."
"What am I gonna do? Who can I turn to?"
"Turn to the side of righteousness. You've had your fun living a life of sin, but now is time to come back to reality."
"What do you mean?"
"What else could I mean? End this farce of a relationship and repent for the sake of your soul. Then forgiveness and sanity may come your way."
"Don't listen to Ms. Kick-You-When-You're-Down. Everything will be fine." Lillith retorted.
"Haven't you cause enough damage!? Thanks to you, she's gone down a path of sin and grief! This needs to end!"
"Of course the dainty virgin would say that. Look Lyra. Sure your Mom found out, but it's not the end of the world. Love always finds a way. And you love Lemy more that anything right?"
"Yeah, I do."
"And you'd do anything to make this relationship work?"
"*sniff* Of course."
"Then plant your feet, grit your teeth, and tell your Mom that you're never gonna break up with him. That your love is a pure and genuine love. Damn the world and its social norms; you and Lemy are in love and nothing's gonna change it!"
" You're right!" Lyra exclaimed internally.
"Do you really wanna go to hell for incest and parental defiance? Do you think this is some kind of Orpheus and Eurydice story? A hundred years of life here is but a blink in comparison to eternity, but what you do in it will determine whether you spend eternity suffering or resting. And right now, suffering awaits both you and your precious, human-dildo of a brother. Just end this and go back to the path of righteousness. You wouldn't want to be the reason Lemy goes to an eternity of flame and torment, do you?" Angela asked.
"No! Of course not! He's too much of an angel to burn!" Lyra replied almost repentingly.
"Then you better make up your mind. And do it quick; your boy toy's trying to wake you up."
"Huh?"
"Lyra!" Lemy shouted while trying to shake her back to reality.
"Wha-what?" Lyra responded in confusion.
"Lyra, are you alright? You kinda fell into your own world."
"*sniff* No, I'm not." Lyra said tearing up. "Nothing is alright. Everything's gone all wrong, and it's all my fault. I wanted to pursue this relationship, I didn't show enough self control and now we're most likely gonna separated. *sob* I'm sorry Lemy."
Lemy took hold of her face and gave her a tender kiss on the lips, alarming Lyra.
"You have nothing to blame yourself for." Lemy said looking her in the eyes with a look of determination. "This was something I wanted almost if not just as much as you did, and I'm not gonna give up on it just because we got found out. I love you Lyra. I don't care if we get separated, we'll find a way. I am not giving up on us no matter what."
Lemy's words moved Lyra to her core. The sheer devotion and love he emanated would make any woman swoon. But to think he'd feel this strongly about his own sister? Unheard of. This gave Lyra all the confidence she needed. No matter what, just like the vows she'd make the day they hopefully(but not realistically)get married, for better or for worse they'll stay together.
"*sniff* You're right. I'm not giving up on us either. You're the only one for me and I'll never let anyone get between us. I love you, Lemy." Lyra said embracing Lemy and sealing her words with a kiss.
"BOOM, bitch! How ya like that? Love always wins." Lillith mocked.
"Don't worry your pretty, ejaculate stained head. Sense will come to her soon when their mother and uncle come back." Angela said confidently.
The two of them soon showered, got dressed and waited for the dreaded hour. About 4 hours later, Lincoln came back. Luna was waiting in the living room, slowly sipping on a cup of ginseng tea to calm her nerves. Lincoln walked in to address her.
"*exhale* Are you ready for this?" Lincoln asked.
"Are you?" Luna asked back.
"Not even a little."
"*sad chuckle* Yeah, neither am I. But we have to let them know."
"I know, but it's still not easy."
Luna used the intercom to tell the kids to come down to the studio. With fear in their hearts and determination in their eyes, they made their way to the studio. Once they made it to the door, they took a deep breath, looked each other in the eye, nodded and entered the room hand in hand. They were met with the concerned looks of Lincoln and Luna. Before anyone said anything, Luna gestured to the two other chairs telling them to take a seat, which they do. They all sat in awkward silence. No one knew what to say, but Lincoln eventually broke the silence.
"Well, *blows off* I think we all know why we're here." Lincoln said. "Care to explain yourselves?"
"What's there to explain? Me and Lemy love each other." Lyra responded.
"You think that now, but that's just your hormones talking." Luna said.
"Really Mom!? Hormones!? You really think we'd be in a relationship like this because of simple hormones!?" Lyra said feeling insulted.
"Yeah Mom. You have to admit that assumption is a bit insulting." Lemy added.
"What other explanation is there? Do you think something like this is normal? Do you think something like this is right?" Lincoln asked.
"The gays used to be hung in the middle of town for their lifestyle, but now they get a parade every year. How come our relationship is so wrong?" Lemy rebutted.
"Exactly. What we have is beautiful and true. So why can't we be together?" Lyra added.
"Because it's not healthy. You can't get married, if you have kids, they could come out deformed and unhealthy, and God forbid you have a falling out. That'll tear the family apart." Luna said.
"First off Mom, we can get married in a different state. Second, I could bet my life savings that Aunt Lisa would drop everything to help us out in that department." Lyra said unknowingly causing Lisa to sneeze while holding a beaker of Thionyl Chloride, causing her to drop it in a nearby mop bucket full of water, causing an explosion.
"Whoever decided to utter my name during this crucial time, it better have been in praise of my intellect." Lisa said in annoyance.
"And third, there's always falling out in families. We just work things out eventually and come back stronger because of it."
"Even if that's how you feel, what makes you think we'll accept this?" Luna questioned.
"Quite frankly Mom, and I say this in the most respectful manner possible, your acceptance is not a prime factor in this." Lemy spoke.
"What!?" Luna shot back.
"Look, I'm sorry if this hurts you, but my and Lyra's love is not something we have to ask permission to have. No matter what comes our way, no matter the hurdles, how we feel for each other will never change. And nothing is going to stop us from being together." Lemy said with conviction.
Lincoln and Luna were taken aback by this. The love and resolve in his eyes looked so familiar to them. It reminded them...of them. They themselves felt this strongly about each other. Hell, that's the reason those two could even stand in front of them at the time. Lemy and Lyra were there because they brought them into the world through the very thing they're doing. The only thing different about Lemy and Lyra's situation is that they were found out and still stood by each other. While Luna and Lincoln managed to keep theirs hidden, the knew they would be no different than them if their mom and dad found out. This made things clear to them; Lemy and Lyra truly loved each other just as much as they loved each other.
"*exhale* So you two really want this?" Lincoln asked.
"100%" Lyra said looking at her lover with a loving smile.
"Absolutely." Lemy replied giving her a similar look.
"*exhale*...Ok. You can be together." Luna said causing the kids to cheer and embrace in celebration. "However..."
"However?" Lemy and Lyra asked.
"Since one secret is out, I think it's best to tell you one."
"And what might that be?" Lyra asked feeling worried after seeing a conflicted look on her mother's face.
"Kids...I think it's time you learned the truth about your father."
"Dad?" Lemy asked in confusion. "What truth are you talking about? Dad's away due to legal troubles. You said that, didn't you?"
"Yes I did, but that's not the full truth."
"Then what part wasn't?" Lyra asked.
"Your dad being away."
"What?" Lemy and Lyra asked in shock. "He's been here the whole time?"
"Yes he has." Luna said with tears falling. "Much closer than you knew."
"Th-Then, w-where is he? Can we meet him?" Lemy asked anxiously, nervously and excitedly.
"*sniff* *shaky exhale* You've already met him."
"When?" Lyra asked in confusion.
"*sob* Everytime you saw me." Lincoln said with tears flowing.
"W-wait, what are saying?" Lyra asked in disbelief.
"Kids...I'm your dad."
