Chapter7
20th Ward: Unknown Motel
I laid the woman down on one of the beds available as she whimpered in her sleep. Based on the context that the old Dove agent let out, it seems that this brief case I'm holding is made of her husbands' Kagune and the old man wanted to use it to kill her. I shook my head in dismay at the brutality and barbaric intent of the old man.
Though I can't really blame the Doves if most of them have the same disposition as the old man when they are literally ordered to deal with monsters seven times stronger than themselves. I stripped while putting my dirty clothes in the washing machine and then proceeded into the shower to relax while waiting for the woman to wake up.
Now that I think about it, I need to lead those two doves away from the 20th Ward. I planned on staying here for a month of two so I can rest and maybe learn something to upgrade the security of my phone. The fact that the CCG have superior equipment and a high level of attainment in technologies makes upgrading my phone and learning electronics from ground up all the more important.
If they get ahold of one of my business cards and managed to track it, I may lose a lot of clients and potential jobs not to mention my integrity in this line of job will take a hit.

While Kai showered, Ryouko woke up and abruptly sat up. She winced in pain and clutched her head as she groaned. "W-where am I?" she looked around seeing the drab walls and two beds. She suddenly recalled the situation she was in before she fainted.
"Hinami?! Hello? Anybody here?!" she called out loud in panic
As soon as she stood up from the bed, the door to the bathroom opened up revealing Yu with a towel on and a scowl marring his face. He obviously didn't like having his bath time disturbed, even Ryouko realized that as soon as he entered her field of vision. He beckoned her to sit back and sighed in frustration before going back into the bathroom to wear clothes.
"Where am I? and m-may I please have your name?"
"In a random Motel and you call me Yu. I stole you from the Doves so I can get the address of a mask maker and don't worry about your daughter, she ran away along with a kid wearing an eyepatch." Yu hollered from the bathroom. Ryouko breathed out a sigh of relief when she heard that her daughter was safe. While waiting for Yu, she got up to get a drink from the fridge and then proceeded straight to the coffee maker. Despite her earlier panic she's still a grown woman, she knows how to calm herself down and think things through.
Yu emerged from the bathroom wearing a set of black pajamas with decorative star design. With her worries lessened, Ryouko finally had the strength to chuckle at Yu's attire. Yu casually disregarded her amusement at his attire as he sat on a chair in front of her.
Before he could vocalize his request again, Ryouko bowed deeply. "I am very grateful to you for saving my life Yu-kun." Her tone laced with gratitude
Yu just stared at her eyes with an unconcerned gaze while he waved his hand in denial. "Yeah, I need a mask, a good coffee shop you can recommend and a technical bookstore." Though Yu thought that what he did was a bit more complicated than he previously thought. Instead of going through the trouble of saving her, he could just track a random ghoul and ask them. that way he wouldn't attract the CCG's attention and would not have to plan for a cover.
"I-is that so?" Ryouko can't help but smile wryly at the strange kid in front of her. He looks the same age as Kaneki-kun but he somehow has this silent confidence shrouding him. How strange.
Yu reached to the side and grabbed a pen and paper then handed them to Ryouko. "Please write down the address so I can go on my own. Keeping you here with me might cause some misunderstanding with the faction in-charge here and I'm sure you're eager to meet your daughter again." After saying that, he handed one of his calling cards to Ryouko who received it with both hands.
'Weaver'? what is this card for? Ryouko thought as she observed the card. Seeing her expression Yu decided to explain what it's for. "That is my calling card. Basically, I'm a mercenary. A person you can pay to do unpleasant stuffs you don't want to do yourself, like eliminating someone, item retrieval(Stealing), espionage, etc."
She looked positively horrified by the idea that a kid like Yu; someone of the same age as the timid Kaneki is doing dangerous things like that is simply incomprehensible for a peaceful person like Ryouko. "Why do you do horrible stuff like that?! Yu-kun you must know that there are more pe-" She didn't get to continue what she's saying since Yu interrupted her.
"Ryouko-san. I know what you're saying"
"Th-then why…"
"Well for one; I didn't like the idea of being weak in a divided society. I could be killed by a ghoul for trespassing his territory or by an Investigator just by being a ghoul. Now, don't jump into conclusions; I like living peacefully and I can live peacefully without bloodshed, cruelty and death but I detest not being able to protect it when the situation where I need to fight for it arise. So, I decided to just become a mercenary so I can improve myself and wander freely all over the country. This way, I can live everywhere without relying to anyone but myself for my own safety."
Ryouko was shocked at the statements that the young man in front of her said. if she were a lot stronger, she would've been able to escape the doves and not put her daughter in danger or even help her late husband that way her daughter would've been able to grow up with a father.
Seeing her space-out Yu decided to have her attention. "Ryouko-san"
"H-Hm?"
"Please write the addresses already."
"A-Ah yes, please wait for a moment Yu-kun." She floundered for a bit before writing the addresses to the slip of paper that Yu gave her. She handed it to him after she was done before she absentmindedly stared at her empty coffee mug.
Yu hummed as he read the paper slip before creating a kagune thread to pick it up and put it inside the duffel bag on his bed and then he commanded it to retrieve the briefcase he snatched from the Doves. "Here, it seemed important to you so I snatched it from that 'Mado' guy." He forwarded the brief case to Ryouko who was brought out from her musing by the smell familiar scent of her late husband.
Before she could convey her immense gratitude, Yu stood up and sauntered to his bed. "Although I understand your grief, I unfortunately could not help you. Please cope with his death how you want. Tomorrow we will separate so I can go about with my business and you can return to your daughters."
With all of that said, Yu tucked himself to bed leaving a grieving Ryouko on the table.
A.N:
This chapter is difficult. The interaction with canon characters is hard unlike the previous chapters I made that has a lot of OC's but I think I will get used to it given enough time and commitment.
