Countdown to Destruction

Chapter 2:

"EVERYBODY GET INSIDE!" Yelled Kat, as she directed distressed citizens towards the gym facility. Fearlessness was on her face which reassured the city folk as they ran in for shelter, but inside she was scared.

As the Velocifighters and Quantrons approached the facility, they were making waste to any and everything in their path. Chaos filled the air as blasts shot from the sky hitting buildings and people, which resulted in cries of pain, confusion, and sorrow.

Kat was used to smaller and contained attacks from her days in Angel Grove but this was on a whole new level. It was clear Astronema was out for blood, even all the way in London.

The former ranger took a pause and looked down at her bare left wrist…

A slight feeling of nostalgia came creeping in the mindset of the turmoil...

If this was a year and a half ago, she'd be at the Power Chamber with Tommy and the others, getting ready to Morph and fight this threat.

But here she was alone, with her friends on the other side of the world. Morphing wasn't an option. Not only didn't she have any Morphers at hand, there's no way she'd last against that many foot soldiers by herself.

The explosions and blasts got louder and closer as Astronema's minions approached. Kat snapped back into focus and continued guiding the citizens to safety. No Powers didn't mean no sense of duty. She could only hope the others in Angel Grove and in Space would fare better...

Be safe, guys..

Angel Grove:

The invasion was in full effect in Angel Grove as Astronema's forces began their tirade on the city. Pandemonium was abound as citizens ran for their lives, trying to avoid being captured or injured by the Pirahnatron/Quantron and debris from the blasted buildings.

It wouldn't be long until the Space rangers arrived to try and even the odds. The belief in the Space Rangers is what helped them ease some of the guilt they felt for not being in the city currently.

Adam's mind continued to rush with thoughts as he urgently drove towards his destination. With the city being the focus of the attacks, there were almost no cops to stop him and others speeding through the streets. To help ease his mind, reached over to the passenger side and gently grabbed Tanya's hand.

Tanya interlocked her fingers with Adam's and tossed a weak smile in his direction in hopes of easing him a bit. She too shared similar thoughts and was also worried about Kat and Justin. Chances are they both could take care of themselves but their presence was missed during this crisis. There was a sense of security when they were all together. But right now the only thing she could do is hope they both make it out of this alright.

In the back was Rocky who was more eager than anything to get back in the fight. While he was ok with Justin taking over as Blue Ranger, he hated that he was forced to sit on the sidelines as he recovered from his back injury. Rocky knew that one day he'd get the chance to fight evil again with his friends and he wanted to be ready. It's that determination and (remembering Jason's recent adventure*) that helped him pull through the final weeks of therapy.

A few miles later, the trio made it to the parking lot they were instructed to meet at. As Adam pulled his truck into an empty spot, they saw Tommy coming out the passenger seat of his Red truck. Once Adam was parked, they all got out of the car with smiles on their faces, and Tommy approached his friends, also smiling.

Adam, Rocky, and Tanya took turns embracing Tommy and for a brief moment they were able to forget about the current attack. This was the first time since passing on their Turbo powers that they were all together. Being reunited again felt like home and even though they were missing a few friends, they all felt secure being in each other's presence.

"Tommy How's Kat holding up?" Asked Tanya as she finished hugging Tommy with concern in her voice.

"The attack is hitting London but she's keeping herself safe" replied Tommy confidently to reassure her. "I wish she had her Powers but I know she's gonna be fine."

"Speaking of Powers" said Rocky Taking out his Zeonizers from his bag to show the others. Since Rocky was in the hospital during the Shift to the Turbo Powers, he didn't leave them in the Power Chamber like the others.

"Good thing I broke my back and missed the memo when you guys retired these, huh?"

Tommy walked over and put a hand on his shoulder "Are you sure you're up for this? I know it's been awhile since the accident."

Rocky laughed, patting himself on the back "It still gets sore from time to time but I'm all set, man. I let Justin run around as the Blue ranger for a year. I'm ready to fight."

" So am I, man" replied Adam "So what's the plan Tommy? The rest of us don't have our Zeonizers and using our old Power Morphers is out of the question." *

"Adam's Right, Tommy" replied Tanya "We can't fight Astronema with no Powers."

"Which is why we're here" replied Tommy pointing to the Angel grove Mountain Entrance. "We're going to the Power Chamber to get the rest of our Zeonizers."

"Wait Isn't the Power Chamber destroyed? What are the chances you guys can find them?" asked Rocky.

Tommy also thought about the slim chances of them retrieving the Zeonizers. From what TJ Told him the Power Chamber explosion was more severe than the Command Centers. The Zeonizers could be damaged beyond repair. Same could be said for the Zeo Crystal. But they had to try. The rest of their allies across the galaxy were captured so they were the only ones who could try and help the Space Rangers.

"We just have to have faith, Rocky. Let's Go."
