Lena had only started listening to the radio while she worked since she'd joined the Superfriends and begun working in the Tower. There was always someone coming in and switching it on. They all had their favourite radio stations, except for Lena. She'd happily listen to whatever the others wanted, when they weren't there she would try out the different stations until she found a song she liked and let it play.
She was busy repairing one of Alex's gadgets when Kara returned to the Tower and found her, singing along to the Spice Girls.
Even though the group had split before Kara arrived on Earth, Alex had still listened to their CDs so Kara recognised the song. She smiled as she watched Lena, who was completely focused on her task, waiting until the song ended to let Lena know she was there.
"You have a lovely voice," Kara told her.
Lena blushed, her hand paused in the act of picking up a smaller screwdriver. She spun around on her stool and looked at Kara.
"I didn't expect anyone back so soon."
"We should sing a duet at the next karaoke night."
Lena shook her head, "no thanks. Public singing frightens me more than the LCorp board."
"It's so much fun, I promise. Everyone gets nervous their first time, but you'll love it."
"I don't mind coming to watch you... all sing, but it's not for me."
"You really do have a good voice," Kara told her, flashing her patented Lena-persuading smile.
That smile had seen Lena try the greasiest burgers in National City, face her fear of flying and to eat the strangest food combinations.
"No," Lena looked away, before Kara's smile could work it's charm.
"Oh, okay, sorry if that sounded pushy," Kara walked over to the workbench. "What are you doing?"
"Trying to figure out if this fails to open because your sisters gloves are too thick for it to pick up her fingerprints, or whether there's a problem with the scanner."
"Need any help?"
"Thanks, but I'm not worried about this one blowing up."
Last time Kara had found her tinkering at the bench she'd been just in time to shield Lena from the mini-explosion. Most of the room had been undamaged, but Lena had needed to replace some of her tools - and the workbench.
A new song came on the radio.
"Oh, I love this one!" Kara told her and started singing along.
Lena hesitated, but once she started working again she couldn't help but join in.
That was how Alex found them half an hour later, when she came to check up on her gadget, sitting at the workbench, side-by-side, singing along to the radio. Neither of them saw her, so she snuck back out and left them to it.
Kara smiled as she heard her sister's footsteps retreating, glad for a little more time in Lena's company. If Lena wouldn't sing with her at karaoke night, then this was just as good.
