Chapter 7.

Hermione glared at the tall, blonde man with the lopsided smile, standing in her office doorway.

Her heartbeat quickened for a second at his smile before she quieted it and maintained her steely gaze. "Draco. I'm assuming you saw the Prophet."

"Very good assumption Granger. I was wondering what you wanted to do about that."

"Do?" She raised an eyebrow.

He rolled his eyes in response. "Yes Granger, what should we do about the rumours."

Ginny cleared her throat and smiled. "Perhaps we could discuss this further over lunch? I've got two little ones to feed here." She put one hand on Teddy's head and one on her stomach.

"I'm sure Draco has better things to do--" Hermione started.

"Sounds good to me," Draco said interrupting her.

Harry picked up Teddy and started out the door behind Draco.

Ginny grabbed her bag and looped her arm through Hermione's. "Why are you trying to make him leave Mione?" she hissed in Hermione's ear. "I thought you were glad to have him back in your life."

"I am! Thanks for dinner yesterday by the way. But it's a little weird hanging out with him with you, Harry and Teddy, no offense. It feels like we're dating or something...like a double date." She shivered at the thought. "We're just friends."

Ginny nodded thoughtfully. "I see what you mean. Oh shush here comes Harry."

"Teddy wants you Hermione." He put Teddy on the ground before turning back to Draco. They were having a heated discussion about quidditch.

Teddy slipped his hand into Hermione's and smiled up at her. "I'm so glad you're coming to lunch Aunt 'Mione. Now you and Mr. Malfoy can take me for ice cream like you promised."

Draco turned around and smirked at the mention of his name. They all walked into the elevator.

"Teddy dear, Aunt 'Mione can't take you for ice cream today," Ginny said looking at Hermione pointedly. "As a matter of fact, I just remembered Gramma Weasley wanted us to come by for lunch today."

Harry looked at her confusedly. "We were supposed to go to the burrow today? When did we--" He trailed off when he saw the look Ginny was giving him. "Oh yes now I remember. Sorry Hermione can we do lunch later this week?"

"Sure Harry," she replied, amused at the exchange between Harry and Ginny. Draco had either not noticed or chosen to ignore them. Teddy was tugging on Draco's sleeve trying to get his attention and Draco was standing stock still trying to ignore him.

They exited the lift and Ginny hugged Hermione and whispered into her ear, "I'll stop by yours later."

Harry and Ginny walked towards the fireplaces, each holding one of Teddy's hands. Teddy turned around and yelled back to Hermione and Draco, "You have to take me for ice cream! Don't forget!"

Draco laughed before rounding on Hermione. "So where do you want to get lunch?"

She blinked up at him.

"Hello?" He waved his hand in front of her face. "Earth to Hermy."

She snapped out of her trance at that horrid nickname. "What? We're still going to lunch?"

He frowned. "Do you not want to eat with me?"

"Oh no! It's not that, I just figured you had things to do."

"Let's go eat Herms," he said shaking his head with a grin.

They settled on a muggle restaurant in an attempt to avoid the reporters they encountered when they were leaving the ministry. It was mildly successful but there were still two reporters from Witch Weekly taking photos of them. The attention prompted several muggles to ask them for their autographs. It was quite amusing to the pair as there was no way for the muggles to understand why they were famous.

After they had ordered their food,

Hermione crossed her arms on the

table and leaned forward. "So what

do you propose we do?"

Draco put his glasses down. "Do?"

She smirked. "Yes Draco, do…about the article."

She smirked. "Yes Draco, do…about the article."

"Oh! Yeah. That's why I came to see you. I wanted to make sure you didn't think I was using you for the publicity."

Her smirk fell from her face. "I didn't think you were. Should I have thought that?"

He shook his head furiously. "No! No, not at all. It's just...I've had girls get close to me for attention before and you're much more famous than I am So..."

He looked really sad at this statement. It was so lonely, not knowing who wants to befriend you because of who you are as a person or because of what they think you can get them. It was partially the reason Hermione had only dated muggle men the past few years.

She smiled softly as her food was placed in front of her. "I know you're not using me. You're too rude to me for that to be the case."

He grinned at her before biting into his cheeseburger. "Good. I don't want you walking out of my life again Hermy."

She snorted. "Okay ferret. Anyway, with regards to the article, I think we should just leave it alone. Just ignore them I mean. If we try to deny it, they're just going to snoop more and try harder to prove we're lying. In a few weeks, they'll find out Ginny's pregnant and leave us alone again."

"That's what Pansy said too. Well. Not about Weaslette but, you get the point. Okay, I'm in agreement."

They finished the meal amicably, laughing and talking about Teddy's fascination with Draco.

Later that evening, Hermione was warming some leftover pasta when Ginny stopped by her flat.

"So how was lunch?" Ginny asked, taking a seat at the counter and picking up an apple.

"It was fine. How's your mum? Did you pick up Ravi?"

"She's fine and yes. He and Teddy are in bed. Don't change the subject. What did you decide to do about the article?"

She shrugged. "Nothing."

"Did I hear you correctly? You. Hermione Granger, are going to do nothing?"

Hermione nodded, taking another bite of her pasta. "Yeah, in a few weeks, they're going to find out you're pregnant and forget about us."

"Oh shit. I keep forgetting Harry's a celebrity."

Hermione narrowed her eyes. "Ginny. So are you."

"Oh…shit…yeah. Argh!" Ginny put her head down on the counter.

"Ginny are you okay?"

She sat up and sighed. "Yeah, I've just had a lot on my mind. I obviously can't play quidditch while I'm pregnant and Harry thinks I should just stay home and homeschool Teddy and take care of the baby when it gets here."

"And you don't want to?"

"No! I mean...I don't know. I mean of course I want to spend time with my kids and be a good mum but why do I have to give up my career to do So?"

"You don't."

Ginny groaned. "I thought life was supposed to get easier as we get older!"

Hermione snorted. "Whoever told you that lied to you."

Friday night Draco had gone to Pansy and Blaise's for dinner. He had barely walked in his front door when a voice called out to him.

"Draco Malfoy."

He jumped but relaxed when he saw who it was. "Good grief mother, you scared me."

"Good to see you as well son," she sneered.

"To what do I owe this pleasure mother?" He asked sarcastically as he flopped down on the couch.

"It would have been nice for you to tell us in person." Draco frowned. That wasn't his mother's voice.

He turned around. "Father. Glad to see you're doing well." He gave him a curt nod.

"Don't avoid the subject," Lucius's voice was quiet, but there was cold fury in it. "You should have told us that you were dating the mudblood. But we had to find out from the Daily Prophet."

Draco scoffed. "I'm an adult, father. I wasn't aware that I needed permission to see someone. Not that we're actually dating. And don't call her that."

Narcissa spoke up. "Of course, Draco. But we're still your parents." She sat down next to him. "And we want to be apart of your life."

"Father just wants to scold me for being a blood traitor."

Narcissa sighed. "That's neither here nor there and is not the reason for our visit. Draco your father and I have something important to discuss with you. Lucius come sit down."

Lucius sat down and Draco noted the somber expressions on their faces. Nothing could have adequately prepared him for what his parents were about to tell him.
