Harper had already landed from her flight. She was waiting for her ride. She wasn't at her destination just yet. Lupine Ridge was around three hours away. So, she was hoping that John took the ride over here to the airport earlier.

She sat on a bench bouncing her leg as she waited. Her ear buds playing music in her ear as she waited. Sipping her soda that she got from inside. She hoped that she would remember what this John looked like when she sees him. She wasn't good with names but was good with faces.

Her mom told her that he would know her.

A truck pulled up in front of her. She looked up as a older man came out looking at his phone. He nodded. "Hey there Harper. I'm John Tollerman." He told her. He showed her the texts between him and her father.

Harper nodded and stood. John looked the girl over. She looked broken. Sad. He frowned at this. He helped her get her things into the bed of his truck before he helped her into the truck and drove off.

She sat there quiet as he drove. Old country music quietly played in the silence. She just watched out the window as the world around her went past her. "It's been a while since I've seen you. I think you were six. How old are you now?" He asked her, trying to know the kid who was going to be living with him and his wife.

"I'll be turning eighteen soon." She told him softly. He nodded. When it got quiet again John sighed. "Look kid. Your ma told me about everything. I'm sorry that you were forced into this. But just know that this will different. This is a chance at a new start." He told her.

She just pursed her lips and gave a nod. "That's what my parents told me." She told him. John gave Harper a glace before looking back at the road once more. He could tell she wasn't a normal person. She had something in her.

A witch perhaps. From what her mother has told his wife.

Maybe this place would be her saving grace? Help her control her powers and help her grow.

They arrived at the farm. John had told her that they had a room all set up for her. And that she would be able to make it hers all that she wanted. He helped her bring her things up to her room. It was a nice sized room.

Harper looked around. "I made sure you had a bookshelf. Your ma told me you like reading. We can take you to the library in town and get you a library card." He told her rubbing the back of his neck awkwardly.

Harper looked at him and gave him a small smile. "Thank you Mr. Tollerman for allowing me to stay with you and your wife." She said. "Please. Just call me John. I'll let you settle in. You just relax." He said and then left her alone to settle in and unpack.

Harper looked out the window when she heard a motorcycle pulling in. She looked down threw her open window. She liked the fresh air in her room.

"Connor? What are you doing here?" John asked as he walked out. Harper's head tilted a bit as she looked at the man on the bike. She kept herself hidden with the blinds as she watched the man.

She saw the man look up at her window as if feeling her gaze. But she made sure he couldn't see her. "I came to see if my boy was here. I know he comes and helps here at your farm." The man that was now off the bike said.

"No. Cayden isn't here. He is probably with his pretty girlfriend." John spoke. This Connor looked away from the window to look at where John was. "You have someone here. You know I have to meet everyone who comes here." Connor spoke.

"Doing a favor for a friend of my wife. The kid had a long flight and a rough week. We were going to let her settle down first." John told the rather intimidating man. The man looked back at the window and inhaled deeply.

"The kid had some trouble back home. We are helping her for the summer." John said trying to get the man in front of him to stop scenting the minor in the house. Not wanting the girl getting mixed up with this bastard.

At least the best she could being here.

"Well. I'll come back to meet the kid. Cayden was supposed to be hunting with us." He said getting back onto the bike.

He looked back at her window once more before riding off.

Laying in the bed, Harper put her phone down after hitting the send button to send the text to her mother about how things are so far. She didn't want to be here though. She wanted to go back home.

She sniffled as tears filled her eyes once more. She grabbed her stuffed bear and curled up around it as she started crying.

She wanted to be normal. She wanted to not be a monster. She wanted her parents.

As she cried, glowing eyes watched from the top of the barn. Listening to the soft sobs that left threw the cracked window. A low growl came from the being of the glowing eyes. Wanting to see the intruder. To touch them. Claim the female.

He was ready to mate. But didn't know the face of the one he wanted to mate with just yet. She refused to show him her face. It angered him.

But he had to remind himself that he will see her face soon. And know the look of the one his wolf side claimed as his mate. He just had to be patient.
