There was no use convincing Velma their friends were safe. What reason would Shaggy ever have to lie to his own friends? It begs many questions. Whatever Shaggy's reasons he was actually hiding could only mean trouble for everyone else.
It struck him as uncharacteristic and unnecessary.
Losing gas while they were in mid-flight, stranded in the Himalayas, and what about that other guy Shaggy was talking about?
Flipping open his notebook.
Fred bothers himself to skim over a few precious details before Velma hung up her phone, bawling. Her nerves had become so rattled he was able to hear her wet strangled sobs. He knows the conversation is worth a closer inspection.
It was written in marker, a little smudged at the edges, but otherwise legible.

"She's harmless now," Dracula says, with far less difficulty one might expect from a simple statement. "Starvation only leads to weakness. Weakness is something neither of us can afford when dealing with hunger." Daphne had angered him but she knew he had good reason. "Vampires must feed themselves somehow."
"And what are you suggesting?" Daphne asks.
"You may not like the taste of blood right now but eventually your body will somehow force you to feed whether you like it or not." Brunch warns them.
"Yep, bluh-bluh-bluh-pffffffht." Crunch says.
"Quite." Brunch says, in response.
"I can control myself." Daphne says, and for the first time it strikes Dracula what a terrible liar she really is.
"Really?" Dracula says, harshly. "Are you willing to wager someone's life on this bet?" This answer was met with a sharp intake of air even after Daphne refuted to speak. It had spoken yes. "This urge will devour you alive if you don't eat something soon." he noticed her eyes had turned glassy. Thick hot tears crept in the corners of her eyes threatening to spill over. The duress alone was enough to cause Daphne to grit her teeth so hard that one may have suffered a minor crack in its enamel. It was another positive answer to his question. And he wondered, did Daphne realize she was answering him without ever speaking? The young woman should know better that body language can speak more volumes than the spoken word.
"I'm…fine…" she grounds out through her bared teeth. With a hint of disgust.
"But I am correct," Dracula says, confident in his assumptions. "starvation will only get you so far until you succumb."
"Listen, you big bully Daphne knows her body better than you ever will," Scrappy yells back, barging into the conversation. "So why don't you just back off?"
"I doubt you'll be able to survive a bloodthirsty vampire when she sinks her fangs into your neck without so much of a second thought." Dracula exclaims, clearly exasperated.
"Will see about that." Scrappy says.
Dracula let out a soft groan.
