Accidental Serving

Chapter 2

Author Notes: Welcome to chaos part two, where I scramble to get as much work done within a week or less. Spoiler alert I'm actually surviving. But it's time to get the ball rolling. I do not own deltarune.

Last time on Accidental Serving...

"Heeeeeeey Mako! Sup!" Blinking she turned towards the entrance of the shop. Leaving the kitchen she found a group of familiar smiling faces. "Hey! If it isn't my favorite customers~" Kris, Susie and Ralsei. The three heroes, and troublemakers.

The purple skinned monster sniffed. "Something smells good. Need any taste testing?" She huffed out a laugh. "No not this time. Thanks though." She tsked, but didn't look TOO disappointed.

It helped that Kris silently offered her a cookie from their inventory. "Not that I don't appreciate your visit but what are you guys doing here? The party's not till later." She was running out of time.

3rd P.O.V

As much as she loved these guys, she had work to do. "We had wished to see the master chef about something. Would it be alright to speak with him?" She offered an apologetic smile to the young prince.

"Unfortunately you just missed him. Had an emergency he had to handle. I can leave a message?" At that Kris smiled while shaking their head. Unconcerned. "Nahhh like what Kris said, we'll be back. Laters." Well...that was an interesting three minutes.

Three minutes she lost. But it wasn't too bad as she waved them away. "See you later!" However the moment the small party were out of sight she ran right back into the kitchen. Going through the books again.

Her eyes scanning through the flipped pages. "Come on, please let me find something good." She needed something easy, something tasty, and more importantly something fast. The head baker was a good guy, but he told her to get it done.

The last thing she wanted to do was disappoint him. "Ohhh!" Her eyes widened with glee as she read the recipe. "Frankenbunny. A conglomeration of candies baked together. Can be used with anything so long as you use magic powder to bind them together." This was it.

Her savior. Without a moment to spare she ran into the cabinets. Peanut butter chocolates, lollipops, licorice, a tub of whip cream, ice cream, rainbow covered candies and finally the jar of magic powder was tossed onto the table.

"I can do this...just assemble, put the powder on and bake." The stove was turned on, preheating as she grabbed her knife. Cutting up the chocolates, she placed them into a bunny mold that she took from her boss's storage.

Placing the rainbow candies upwards, to resemble little paws, and lollipops that she took the stick off, becomes to brightly, transparent eyes. The ice cream and whip cream added some contrast against the dark browns and rainbow mesh.

Following the instructions of the book she took a handful, sprinkling it all over the creation, only to frown as she didn't see it bind it. Instead now just starting to melt from the warmth of the stove. "Maybe I need some more?" She just took a little bit more. Half a handful this time.

A smile formed when this time she saw everything blend together. "Perfect! Now into the oven you go-" Just as she was about to check, she heard a little ding. It finished preheating. "Ok...here we go." According to the book, it would take five minutes of the magic to fully blend into the heat.

So all she had to do was set a timer. And then she would be good. She could throw it in the fridge alongside her cake and then all she would have to do was finish setting up the tables outside the kitchen. Her boss will be back(hopefully) praise her, and then they can have fun at the party.

It was a great plan. "Excuse me." She couldn't wait to eat all of the cupcakes and the ice cream brownies that her boss made earlier. "Miss.?" Her head twisted and turned. Did someone come in while she was busy?

"Down here sweetie." She gaped, open mouth. "H-huh!?" Her frankenbunny was talking. "Hello there!" With a scream she stumbled backwards, hitting her head as her foot caught on the of jawbreakers that her boss had dropped earlier.

Her breath caught when she saw the edible rabbit stood up, all on it's own. It's ice cream belly and whip cream paws patted down the rest of its body. Not melting, but jiggly. "Wh-what? You're alive?!" A tiny huff escaped her new creation as it hopped off the tray.

Looking at her with amusement. "Yes. I do believe you added a bit too much powder. Did you not finish reading the book?" With a frown, Mako immediately grabbed the book in question. She was sure she read it all. It wasn't THAT hard to follow instruction. Her eyes narrowed as she read the information out loud.

"Frankenbunny. A conglomeration of candies baked together. Can be used with anything so long as you use magic powder to bind them together. Adding lots of ingredients or dairy products could take more time for the powder to bind things together. Warning, make sure you don't use too much magic powder. This could give the dessert sentience akin to that of a lightner."

With a groan she pinched her nose. "I'm so screwed." Because she was in such a rush to get this done. Worried about the time limit, she brought her dessert to life. "What exactly were you trying to do? Not that I mind coming to life, but still." Now she had a talking food rabbit.

And nothing to show her boss. "My boss wanted me to make something to serve at tonight's halloween party. I have until he gets back..." Sighing, Mako covered her face, accidently smearing her face with whip cream.

"Who's to say you still can't make something? I've no intention of being turned into a meal but I can help you make something else?" That made Mako squint her eyes. "You're a-ok with me making more food stuff for people to eat? After I just brought you to life?" This was so weird.

And even weirder as the chocorabbit placed its paws on its hips. "So long as it's not alive it's fine right? If it's not sentient like me, then it's just food. There's no need to overreact. Come come, grab the book. There's work to be done." With a tired shrug, she complied.

She didn't have anything else to lose at this point. No matter what she was sure to get fired for this, so she may as well find something. If for nothing else for her to wallow in misery later on. She turned slightly to the left.

Allowing chocobun(yeah that's a good name) to hope on her shoulder so they could both peer into the book of recipes together. "Ohhh let's dive away from the sweets and make this. It's vanilla shake with various chocolates shaped as halloween themes with blood candy coated rim."

That...actually sounded pretty good. "Ok, so what do I do?" Making the chocolate shaped pumpkins, spiders and eyeballs wouldn't be a problem. "You're the chef, Miss. I can tell you the recipe, but in the end you're the one making it." She's made hundreds of those before.

The blood candy coated rim wasn't something she was familiar with, but from the instructions and pictures showed, it wouldn't be too difficult. The biggest thing was making sure the shake itself tasted good. "I'll be careful this time." Both of their faces winced at the thought of a sentient shake. "Please do."

to be continued
