Kakarott's eyes were practically bulging out of his head as they traveled down Vegan's petite frame.
When Eighteen chose this Rabelaisian little number, she half expected Kakarott to rage like a petulant child about how she looked like a street walker.
Once when Bloomer threw her a birthday party, she remembered Kakarott reprimanding his wife because she wanted to try on the shade of lipstick Vegan was wearing.
But here he was, practically having eye sex with her; she was shocked by the turn of events.
'Wow.'
Wow.
He had always been a man of few words, but he could always articulate what he was feeling at the moment.
And what he was feeling now was wow.
He was feeling wow.
She couldn't remember the last time she had made Bloomer go wow.
'We found this in a bargain bin at an outlet store.'
She strolled over to the table unhurriedly. The stilettos she wore secondhand, she worried about the heels breaking if she moved too briskly.
'I know this is different from what you're used to-'
'It looks great on you.'
He took her hand and led her to the table; she had never realized how large his hands were.
'Thank you.'
'And your hair?'
'The stylish said Bardot's bouncy layers with her trademark fringe was in vogue. He wanted to cut it shoulder-length, but I refused to let him take more of my luxurious hair. I think he just wanted to make a wig.'
'It's pretty.' He said as he caught a curl in between his fingers. 'And soft. Has it always been this soft?'
'Yes, I take excellent care of my hair; it doesn't grow as often as a human's.'
Kakarotto never did give Vegan back her hair, and his knee touched hers.
Eighteen spent the whole night smirking at her.
Kakarott hovered near her the entire night; somehow, he seemed to find a way to touch her bare skin constantly. His touch lingered long after the initial contact, and somehow, Vegan just realized that he was 4' inches taller.
Had he always been this huge?
Bloomer was 5'6, Raditz was 6'3, and Nappa was 6'10, so Kakarott wasn't so large, but he was larger than she; why had she not realized until now?
'How do you feel?' He seemed to ask every half hour.
'Yes, I'm fine.'
They were out on the street, walking to a nearby park.
'Are you sure you?'
'Yes.'
'If you want to cry again-'
'Cry?!' Vegan broke free from his grasp. 'What do you mean?!
'You cried when I told you about Bloomer; you cried-'
Vegan felt disgusted with herself, crying like a child over a man!
'Oh, God!' She scoffed. 'You let me weep over a man!'
'It's nothing to be ashamed of. I cried when Chi Chi left.'
'You?'
She couldn't picture kakarotto's large body on the ground sobbing like a heartbroken child.
The thought of a heartbroken kakarotto puts grief in her heart.
'Yes, me. You don't think I get sad too?'
'Yes, but I don't want to think of you heartbroken.' She said. 'It brings about sorrow.'
'Seeing you like that made me think of your death on Namek.' he said. 'It hurt to see you so full of despair.'
'Let's discuss optimistic things.'
'I'd love to hear more about us.'
Vegan whirled to face him. 'Us?'
'Yes.'
'What do you mean by that?'
'By what?'
'Us. What do you mean by that?'
'Us. Our people, you're constantly telling me I need to know more about my people.'
'Oh, yes, that's what you mean.'
'What did you think I meant?'
'Nothing.' She laughed and pulled him by his hand. 'Let's catch up with Krillin and Eighteen.'
The four went to a karaoke bar; Kakarott had never been to one before.
'What do you do at the Karaoke bar?'
'You sing.'
'You sing?! Are you a singer, like Yamcha?'
'No, not a singer.' She said quickly. 'I just like to vocalize the occasional popular ballad occasionally.'
'I don't know anything about singing. I don't know anything about ballads.'
'The monitor will display the lyrics on the screen.'
'I'm not really the bar type.' He groaned.
'We can just dance.'
'I can't dance.'
'Take hold of my waist,' Vegan said as she laced her arms around his neck, 'and sway. Now we are slow dancing.'
'If it means that I can hold you like this,' he said, pulling her close, 'then I can dance all night.'
Is he flirting with me? She wondered.
'Bloomer and I didn't do this.'
'He doesn't like holding you like this?!'
'No, it's- you can't dance like this when you have a small child. We can only do this in those rare moments when we have time to ourselves.'
The memories made her heart ache; she missed the family's slow dances.
'Were you training too much?'
'We couldn't find time for us before the tournament, and then after...' She laid her head on his shoulder. 'Then after, Bloomer had no time for me.'
'I wonder if that's how I made Chi Chi feel.'
'That woman doesn't appreciate you; your whore is training. She was second to no one.'
'Yamcha and Bloomer have more history than Chi Chi and i.'
'Did your history involve infidelity?'
'No.'
'Let's not talk about Bloomer anymore.'
'When I see Trunks again, should I use my instant transmission to bring him to you?'
'No, I don't want to force him to do anything. If he chooses to forgive, it should be on his terms.'
'Ok.'
They spent the night dancing and chatting; god Kakarott could talk.
He told her about his life with his grandfather, meeting Bloomer and his other friends, and his life before Raditz.
'You know,' Vegan said as Kakarotto spun her around, 'I wanted Raditz to collect you when five years before he went.'
'What?'
This was the first real conversation they had that didn't involve the fate of the macrocosm.
'Yes, I wanted to locate you before you reached manhood, and originally, I was the one who was supposed to come to earth.'
'You?!'
'Yes, then Nappa suggested that we, Raditz and I, go together, then decided Raditz should go alone.'
'Five years before... That would have been right back when I met with Chi Chi again.' He said quietly. 'Imagine what my life would have been like if...'
'If what?'
'I mean, what if... what if you and I...?'
'If we what?' Laughed Vegan. 'If you and I met first!'
He grinned. 'Would you have chosen me over Bloomer?'
'Would you have chosen the harpy over me?'
'I don't know.'
'Tch. You'd sacrifice your sons and mine.'
'We'd be their parents, silly.' He placed a hand on her back,
pushing their chests together, making breathing a bit difficult. 'We'd probably be traveling the galaxy.'
'I don't think I would make a good mate.'
'You're kind, thoughtful, and sweet.'
'Whatever you say.'
Kakarott stoked the nape of her neck. 'Let's get home.'
'Home? The night is still young.'
'Vegan.'
The way he growled her name, something virile-
Virile?
When did she start to think of him as virile?
'It's a full moon tonight.'
'Alright.'
