Chapter 17

AN: Update** sorry I posted chapter 17 of SuperFam instead of this one. Thanks to Darkecean for letting me know.

"Five more minutes", Kara mumbles, holding Lena tighter against her chest.

Lena kisses the bare skin across Kara's collarbone and makes her way to her lips, "I wish we didn't have to but you have to get to CATCO and I have to get to L-Corp. Besides, I'll see you at lunch right?".

"Yeah", Kara says, "but that's like five hours away".

Lena smiles down at her as Kara pouts, "I know it sounds like a long time but I'm sure Cat will have plenty of stuff for you to do if you're restless". This teasing remark only causes Kara to deepen the pout and Lena can't help herself as she lowers her head to kiss it away. "This has been the best weekend ever but it has to end eventually", she says.

"But why?", Kara asks, "Sam can run L-Corp and I'll just have Nia cover for me or use my speed to get it done later and we can stay here and cuddle".

"As much as I would love that, this weekend has to end so that we can get on with spending the Rest. Of. Our. Lives together", Lena says, punctuating between each word with a kiss on Kara's face before finishing in an intimate liplock.

"And I totally want to but then you go and do something like that and you make it that much harder to stop myself", Kara says, breathlessly.

"Come on, darling if you let me up now, I have time to shower and make you pancakes", Lena says, pushing herself up again.

"Counteroffer shower together and pick up Noonans before I drop you off", Kara says, attempting to raise her eyebrow like Lena.

Lena smiles at the attempt and kisses Kara's forehead, "As long as we're quick".

She barely finishes the sentence before Kara is out from under her and leaning against the doorframe to the bathroom, shower already running. "I'm waiting on you", she smirks, causing Lena to narrow her eyes and stalk towards her, kissing her hard before pushing her under the warm spray.

Kara almost keeps her promise and Lena is only five minutes late than she'd hoped, fifteen if you count the time they spent on the balcony 'saying goodbye', but Lena was at work so she considered it a win.

Kara finally lifts off the balcony, giving Lena one last kiss before forcing herself to fly away and not look back as she heads to CATCO, only to hear screams and cars crunching a few blocks away.

She quickly activates her suit, thanks Lena for making her a practical ring and bracelet that she doesn't have to worry about destroying, and slides in her earpiece, calling for backup as she flies up to see a large pale alien stomping up to the Expo Center.

After spending the whole weekend together, feeling like a complete family, Alex is loath to head to work, knowing tonight, she should probably head back to her apartment, even though Eliza technically flew back to Midvale last night. She and Sam part ways Monday morning, with a kiss and a love you, see you later, as Alex hugs Ruby before hopping on her bike and heading to the DEO.

It's not like she's ready to propose or anything, especially after how it went the first time and how her relationships have gone since. Besides, she doesn't even know if that's what Sam really wants. All Alex knows is that she wants Sam and Ruby in her life and doesn't want to spend more time away from them than necessary.

She's so lost in her thoughts that she doesn't hear her phone ringing until Brainy hacks the speaker in her helmet, "Alex there's another alien outside the Expo Center. Kara was the first to respond and it got very angry".

Alex doesn't respond, too focused on coming to a quick stop, planting her foot and taking off towards the center. "What species?", she asks, as she comes quickly around the block, parking her bike and taking off towards the nearest DEO SUV.

"We believe it's an Andromedan", Brainy reports, "they have pretty distinctive features".

"So what's the 2%", Alex asks.

"A person can never be 100% sure, Agent Danvers, the 2% represents other variables", Brainy goes on to list every external detail that could contribute and Alex doesn't even try to cut him off as she slides her DEO earpiece in.

"Supergirl", Alex says, now connected to the dedicated channel for agents in this fight, "How's it look up there".

"Definitely Andromedan", Kara says, out of breath, "and he's not happy to see me".

"Why is he invincible?", Alex asks, pulling her gun out of its holster and ducking behind a barricade.

"They're from Rao's system too", Kara says, "must get powers from the yellow sun".

Kara drops down, avoiding a hard punch and flies straight into the aliens stomach, pushing it back to the center of the intersection, hoping to avoid any structural damage.

The agents have formed barricades around the intersection and blocked off the street 2 blocks in every direction and have closed in on the alien, surrounding it and forcing it to stay in this intersection.

The agents all follow Vasquez's command of fire while the alien is dazed but it doesn't stay that way for long.

"Any ideas?", Alex calls to anyone listening.

"Lead or Kryptonite are the only weakness we know of from that system but no data as to whether it will work on him", Brainy says.

Kara flies in for a hard strike to his jaw, "It's not lead cause the bullets bounced off him".

"We can try Kryptonite but Supergirl has to stay back", J'onn says.

Alex heads to the SUV to grab a clip of Kryptonite bullets and says, "Kara get out of here unless you have a Kryptonite suit".

Kara grins and triple taps the emblem on the center of her chest causing a second wave of nanites to cover her body and a helmet to enclose her head, "My fiancée's a genius".

"Yeah, yeah, we've heard it all before but still back up", Alex says, and watches Kara jet up into the sky before unloading the clip at the alien.

The bullets don't bounce off like the lead ones did but they don't cause the Andromedan to stop either as it jumps as hard as it can trying to reach Kara.

"Any more ideas?", Alex asks.

"What if I just fly away?", Kara says, "It seems like it's only after me".

"And then we have an alien running through the city trying to keep up with you", Alex says, "Not happening".

"Well, we better get a plan fast cause here comes something else", Vasquez says, pointing down the street at another large alien that is bounding towards them.

"That's another Dheronian", Kara says.

"Yep", Alex says, "Plan, we need a plan, now. J'onn, anything?".

"You've beaten a Dheronian before so… same thing you did last time", J'onn offers, feeling bad that he can't do more to help.

"Except Kara solarflared and we've got two aliens this time", Alex says quickly before ordering another round of shots hoping to keep the alien busy.

"Line them up", Kara says, "I have an idea".

The agents manage to get the aliens together as Kara floats above the intersection just out of their reach.

The agents keep up an impressive non-stop volley of bullets and Kara dives down shooting her heat vision right through both aliens, killing them both but she crashes, creating a crater in the asphalt.

They make it back to the DEO and Alex puts Kara under sunlamps and checks her vitals, waiting for her to wake up.

"It's a good thing we have some decent funding for property damage", Kara says, weakly.

"You just have a rich girlfriend who started a charity to rebuild the city", Alex teases her.

"Lena!", Kara says, trying to sit up, grunting at the pain shooting through her ribs, "I have to call her".

"Woah", Alex says, a hand on Kara's shoulder, "Easy".

"I have to call her. There were choppers, news, she made an alert anytime I'm on the…", Kara gets cut off by a scream and a blur of dark hair and designer suit crashes into her.

Kara grunts at the impact but her arms come up around Lena and she pulls her close.

"Oh Rao", Lena says, pulling back at Kara's reaction, "I saw you go down. Are you ok?".

"I'm ok, Lee", Kara says, pulling Lena back to her, "I promise, baby, I'm ok". She presses her lips to Lena's hairline, taking a deep breath through her nose. Her nerves are calmed by the smell of Lena's shampoo.

"She solar flared and has a few cracked ribs. She'll need some time under the lamps, but she'll be fine", Alex says, as another agent comes in with test results. Alex flips through them quickly and continues, "Yep, everything is completely normal except the levels of solar radiation. You're free to head home. I'm sure you'd rather be under the lamps there or on the balcony".

Kara gives her sister a grateful smile before turning back to Lena, "Can I get a raincheck on lunch".

"We can have a picnic on the balcony", Lena says, kissing Kara, beyond grateful that she's ok.

Alex smiles at the sweet moment and turns to leave seeing the agent still lurking behind her. "Davis", she barks, scaring the poor guy, "let's go".

"Of course, ma'am, I mean, Agent Danvers, I mean", the guy starts to ramble before being stopped by a sneezing fit and Alex turns back to Kara wide-eyed, hoping Kara in her weakened state doesn't catch whatever this guy has just spewed all over the room.

"Davis", Alex orders, "Out. Now". She takes a deep breath and turns back to Kara, "maybe just head home and lay low. You'll probably come down with whatever that IDIOT", Alex shouts down the hall, "just sprayed in here". She turns to Lena now, "You've never dealt with sick, solar flared Kara… have fun" and she turns on her heel and leaves.

Lena looks over at Kara, "What should I expect?".

Kara looks at her feet sheepishly, "The first time I got so sick Ms Grant actually sent me home and threatened to fire me because my 'one good quality was that I didn't get sick'. I also broke my arm that time".

Lena raises her eyebrow, "and the other times?", she asks, almost afraid of the answer.

"Various illnesses", Kara says, "I actually tested positive for polio one time".

"But there's a vaccine for that", Lena says.

"Oh yeah", Kara shrugs, "impenetrable skin tends to break needles and I usually can't get sick so… no vaccines. Plus the whole childhood on a different planet".

"Right", Lena drawls, "Well let's get you home and I'll stock up on soup and Robitussin. Will that work on you?".

"While I'm solarflared, yeah", Kara nods, pushing herself off the bed.

Lena gently wraps an arm around her and leads them down to the street where she left her car haphazardly parked in her haste to get to Kara.

Lena helps Kara get settled on the balcony before going to order lunch and Kara already feels a little better. Thankfully the sky is clear and she can feel the full effect of the sun recharging her cells. She knows it will take a while for her powers to come back and her ribs to heal especially with how much she's been using her powers fighting these aliens but she got her wish… their engagement weekend has been extended.

Lena comes back to the balcony to see Kara's grin, "What's that face for?".

"I got my wish", Kara says, happily, her head falling over so she can look at Lena.

"What wish?", Lena asks, wondering what part of being solarflared with three cracked ribs could be a wish come true.

"Our weekend has been extended", Kara says, smirking and wiggling her eyebrows.

"Oh no", Lena smirks right back, "No sex while on sun rest".

"What?!", Kara says, sitting up too fast, and she grabs her side.

"That's exactly why", Lena says, "You will eat, you will get sun and then we will sleep. We can still cuddle but no way am I risking hurting you more".

"Fine", Kara admits, opening her arms for Lena as she scoots over in the chair.

"As soon as I get the food", Lena says, kissing Kara and heading to the front door to take the delivery bags.

"Here we go darling", Lena announces, "Your favorites".

Kara opens her arms again and Lena sets the bags on the table beside the chair and carefully slides in next to Kara.

"Thank you", Kara whispers into her hair.

"You don't have to thank me darling", Lena says, craning her neck to look up at Kara "I plan on keeping you around for a very long time".

"I love you", Kara says, bending down to kiss her.

"I love you", Lena whispers back just before their lips connect.

AN: I know Kara has unveiled herself as Supergirl but for the sake of this plotline, because its fanfic, pretend that these aliens don't know her identity as Kara, they are just targeting Supergirl.
