UA (Day)
"For today's hero basic training, it's turned into a class with three instructors, All Might and me, and one more person." Aizawa said.
'I guess the security scare made them more wary.' Dominic thought to himself, regretting not unleashing UB Burst on the media horde.
"Excuse me! What'll we be doing?" Sero asked.
The black-haired man reached into his pocket and pulled out a white card with 'RESCUE' written on it in bold blue letters. "Disasters, shipwrecks, and everything in between. It's rescue training."
"Looks like it'll be a lot of work this time too." Kaminari said, a bit scared of what he'll need to do to pass.
"Idiot, this is the duty of a hero!" Kirishima responded, smiling in anticipation. "My arms are ready to rumble!"
"No one can beat me in water, ribbit." Asui said confidently.
"Heheh. Maybe. But when it comes to versatility, my Pokemon are second to none." Dominic proclaimed. And he wasn't wrong either.
"Hey. I'm not done." Aizawa said, irritated. "You can decide if you want to wear your costume or not this time. There might be situations where they limit what you can do. The training will take place off-campus, so we're taking a bus. That is all. Start getting ready."
UA Bus (Day)
"Class 1A, gather round!" Iida shouted, standing just outside the bus door. "Form two lines by your student numbers in order to make boarding the bus go smoothly!"
Unfortunately for the bluenette, the way the bus was built made his seat setup completely worthless. "Tough break." Ashido said, sorry for the boy.
"Hey, Midoriya." Asui said, turning to the boy sitting next to her. "Isn't your Quirk a lot like All Might's?"
"You think so?" Midoriya stuttered, nervous. "But, I'm, uh-"
"Wait a sec, Tsu." Kirishima said, interrupting the greenette. "All Might doesn't get hurt when he uses his Quirk. They just look kinda the same." Though he tried to be discreet about it, Dominic noticed Midoriya breathe a sigh of relief when people stopped asking about his powers. "But it's nice to have a simple augmenting-type Quirk. You can do a ton of flashy stuff!" Kirishima raised his arm, then hardened it. "My Hardening's good against others, but it doesn't really look like much."
"And that's a bad thing, how?" Dominic said. "Any Quirk can work in combat, as long as you train in the right ways. And, in my experience, bland-looking powers are easier to work with. Sometimes, simple is best." He learned this when battling his brother's Eevee.
"Wow, you think?" Kirishima said, looking at his Quirk in a new light.
"My Navel Laser is pro-level in both flashiness and strength." Aoyama boasted.
"But it's not great if it gives you a stomachache." Ashido joked.
"Well, if you're talking about flashy and strong, it's gotta be Todoroki and Bakugo, right?" Kirishima brought up.
"Bakugo's always mad, so it doesn't seem like he'll be popular." Asui bluntly said.
"What the hell! You want to fight!?" the blonde yelled, proving Asui's point.
"We haven't known eachother long, so it's amazing that everyone already knows his personality is crap steeped in sewage." Kaminari said, smirking.
"Do you have a death wish or something?" Dominic asked, astounded by the boy's stupidity. "Honestly, you might as well shoot a flare gun at a Beedrill hive!" At that, everyone stared at him. "Trust me, you don't want to know."
"We're here. Stop messing around." Aizawa said, stepping out of the vehicle.
USJ (Day)
When Dominic walked off the bus with his classmates, he saw a person wearing a puffy space suit standing in front of the doors. "Everyone, I have been waiting for you." they said.
"It's the Space Hero, Thirteen! The gentlemanly hero who's saved tons of people from disasters worldwide!" Midoriya exclaimed, fanboying over the astronaut.
"Let's go inside without delay." Thirteen said as they led the class into the building.
"Wow, this looks like USJ!" Uraraka said, excited.
"A shipwreck, a landslide, a fire, a windstorm, etc." Thirteen listed off. "It is a training ground that I made with different types of disasters and accidents. It's called the Unforeseen Simulation Joint!"
'Wait a minute...' Dominic thought to himself, realizing something about the name of the training ground.
"Thirteen, where's All Might? He was supposed to meet us here." Aizawa asked his coworker.
"About that..." the Space Hero began. "It looks like he did too much hero work on his way here and ran out of time, so he's resting in the lounge." They pointed out three fingers when saying this.
"That's the height of irrationality." Aizawa said, turning back to his class. "It can't be helped. Shall we begin?"
"Let's see. Before we begin, let me say one thing, or two, or three, or four, five, six, seven-" Thirteen trailed off, continuing to count higher. Eventually, they stopped and got to the point they were trying to make. "Everyone, I'm sure you are aware of my Quirk, Black Hole. I can suck in anything and turn it to dust."
'Phrasing.' Dominic thought to himself.
"You've been using that Quirk to save people from all kinds of disasters, right?" Midoriya said, still awestruck.
"Yes, but it is a power that can just as easily be used to kill." Thirteen said gravely. They then turned to Dominic. "Xiao-Long. Nezu told me that several of your...Pokemon, you call them, have devastating abilities, correct?"
"Indeed." the trainer confirmed. "One of the hardest to tame in my opinion would be this species." he said as he got out his Pokedex. An image of a blue serpent with white ridges going down it's back appeared on the screen.
"Gyarados, the Atrocious Pokemon. Type: Water/Flying. It has an extremely aggressive nature. Once it begins to rampage, a Gyarados will burn everything down, even in a harsh storm. The Hyper Beam it shoots from it's mouth totally incinerates all targets. It is capable of destroying entire cities in a rage."
All of his classmates were speechless after the description. "Thankfully for everyone alive, Gyarados reside far out in the ocean and very rarely attack people unprovoked." Dominic explained, relieving many of those present. He decided to keep out the fact that if the Pokedex had it's info, he had caught it.
"In a superhuman society, personal Quirks have been certified and stringently regulated, so it doesn't seem like a problem at first glance." Thirteen said. "However, please do not forget that there are many Quirks that can kill with one wrong step. With Aizawa's physical fitness test, you found out the possibility of your own hidden powers, and with All Might's person-to-person combat training, I think you experienced the danger of using those powers against others. This class is a fresh start. Here, you will learn how to use your Quirks to save people. You do not have powers to harm people. I hope you leave here with the understanding that you have powers in order to help others. That is all. Thank you for listening."
"Alright then. First-" Aizawa was cut off when Dominic rushed to the front of the group, his eye glowing. Seconds later, the lights overhead went out.
"Charizard, to arms!" the boy yelled, throwing a Poke Ball and releasing his partner. The Flame Pokemon stood by it's Trainer and glared at the fountain in the center of the building. A spacial distortion appeared in front of the structure, forming into a black portal.
"Gather together and don't move!" Aizawa told his students. "Thirteen, protect the students!"
Dominic and Charizard kept a close eye on the portal as several people came out from it, most of them bearing sinister expressions.
"Is this like the entrance exam, where the lesson's already started?" Kirishima asked, confused.
"Don't move!" Aizawa repeated, preparing to fight. "Those are villains."
"Wait, really? How'd they get into a hero school like UA?" Kirishima asked, nervous.
"They must've snuck in during the security breach. That's the only reasonable explanation for why they attacked right as an entire class is here." Dominic said, surveying the crowd of villains for the strongest one. Both he and Charizard kept their eyes on the hulking monstrosity in the back. 'It does have a Soul, but there's something off about it.'
"What about the trespasser sensors?" Yaoyorozu asked.
"With a horde this large, I'd say that at least one of them has a Quirk that can override electrical signals." the blonde explained.
"Thirteen, start the evacuation. Try calling the school." Aizawa told the Space Hero.
"That won't work." Dominic interjected. "Think about it. If they had the foresight to block the alarms, they're probably blocking incoming and outgoing radio signals. Luckily for us, I have something better than a SOS." He reached into his pocket, activating the Box Link and withdrawing a Poke Ball. "Corviknight, to arms!" The capsule opened, releasing a large raven with metallic feathers. "I need you to fly back to UA and tell Nezu about what's happening here. Understand?"
The corvine Pokemon let out a shrill cry before taking flight and crashing through the glass ceiling, leaving everyone surprised.
"I'll pay for that later." Dominic said meekly before turning back to the villains.
"Wait, are you going to try and fight them?" Midoriya asked, worried for his classmate. "Even with Charizard, you can't beat them all!"
The trainer looked down at his Mega Glove, then closed his hand into a fist. "I've faced worse odds before. This is nothing."
"No. I won't let you put yourself in danger." Aizawa told the boy.
"Bit too late for that." Dominic said quietly. "But fine. Charizard, stand down for now." Begrudgingly, the Flame Pokemon obeyed. Aizawa then leapt into the fray, scarf in hand. A group of villains attempted to attack him, only to be struck down before they could realize why their Quirks weren't working. Dominic and the rest of the class took the chance to run to the door. Unfortunately, their path was blocked by a villain with a body made of black smoke.
"Pleasure to meet you." the villain said, eyeing Charizard. "We are the League Of Villains. It may be presumptuous of us, but we have invited ourselves into the home of the heroes, UA High School. In order to have All Might, the Symbol Of Peace, to take his last breath. I believe All Might should have been here. Has there been some kind of change?"
"To make a long story short, he spent the day saving people and is currently resting in the teachers' lounge." Dominic explained, unfazed by the villains' presence. "You're welcome."
"WHY WOULD YOU TELL HIM THAT?" Jiro yelled.
"Because I have manners." the blonde said, smiling cheekily.
"Okay..." the smoke villain said, off-put by the interaction. "Well, that is neither here nor there. This is the part I am to play." The smoke spread out, surrounding the group.
Bakugo and Kirishima jumped forward, joined by Charizard. They all attacked with Hardening, Explosion, and Dragon Claw. "Did you consider that you'd get beaten by us before you had the chance?" Kirishima asked rhetorically.
"Oh dear, that's dangerous." the smoke villain said, having taken no damage from the assault. "That's right. Even if you are students, you are all golden eggs. Even if one of you is a bit rotten." Those golden eyes glanced at Dominic when he said that last part.
'Guess he knows.' the boy thought to himself. He knew he'd eventually meet someone who was aware of what he did before coming to UA.
"My job is to scatter you all and torture you to death!" the villain proclaimed, sending tendrils of smoke into the crowd.
Knowing that the burly one needed to be taken care of, Dominic made a decision in the heat of the moment. "Charizard, get out of here! Do whatever it takes to take the big one down!" Nodding, the Pokemon took flight and tore it's way out of the smoke. "Oh, sheep." the blonde deadpanned as a wave of smoke engulfed him.
Shipwreck Zone (Day)
When his sight returned, Dominic found himself falling toward a large body of water. Panicking, he retrieved an Ultra Ball from his PC. "OH, NO! I'm not letting you win this time, you moist devil! Gyarados, get out here immediately!" With all the force he could muster, he threw the ball, releasing a large red serpent with white ridges going down it's back. As it fell into the artificial sea, the liquid made it's scales shine like diamonds. Right before he hit the water, Gyarados caught Dominic with the crest on it's head.
Now that he was no longer in danger, the trainer pressed a small button on his jacket. This covered the rest of his body in a red suit with an oxygen tank and a visor.
"That was a close one." the boy said, holding tightly onto the aquatic Pokemon. Hearing a splash behind them, Gyarados turned around to see what caused the noise. "Is that Midoriya?" Dominic's eye widened when he saw a villain swimming toward his classmate. "Submerge, now!" The Atrocious Pokemon dove into the water, frightening both the jet villain and Midoriya. "Hyper Beam!" Gyarados' mouth became filled with a golden light before it shot out a concentrated beam of energy at the villain, sending him flying out of the water. It then swam past the greenette, allowing Dominic to grab his wrist as they surfaced.
"You have a Gyarados!?" Midoriya asked once he was able to breathe again. "I thought you said these things were super hard to tame!"
"They are. But this one and I understand eachother on a level I don't have with most of my other Pokemon." the trainer explained. "Maybe it's because we were both hurt by humans." Dominic placed his hand on a knife scar on one of Gyarados' ridges. "Let's get to that ship." he said, directing the Pokemon to the fake boat in the center of the lake.
"What do you mean 'hurt by humans'?" Midoriya asked, feeling empathetic for the Water-Type.
"That's a story for another time." Dominic answered as he and his classmate boarded the ship. Once he was no longer above water, he sent Gyarados back into it's Poke Ball.
"Xiao-Long? Midoriya?" the duo heard, turning to see Mineta and Asui standing there, looking like they just got out of the water.
"Well, I see you're all in the sheep as well." the blonde joked. "So. What's the plan?"
