Author's note: I changed in chapter 7 the age of Jason and Robert Elliot. (November 1812: Jason is 28 and Robert is 26)
Pemberley October - November 1812
As soon as they returned from their wedding trip, Elizabeth assumed her place as Pemberley's mistress. Since Miss Taylor was staying with Kitty for a few more months, Elizabeth and Darcy decided to hire a governess for Johnny so Mrs. Annesley could return to her former position as a companion to Georgiana and Mary.
Miss Taylor recommended Mrs. Altman to be Johnny's governess. They had been friends in their youth and Mrs. Altman's husband had died two years ago. Her only son was a ship captain. Johnny quickly settled into the routine at Pemberley and was very happy to live in such a nice house with so many horses and dogs. Since he liked books very much in a very short time he learned to read and according to Mrs. Altman, he was very good with numbers.
Georgiana and Mary were very happy to live together and at Elizabeth's suggestion, they were learning to run a household. They also visited tenants and participated in church charity work. As at Longbourn, twice a week, Mary helped Miss Taylor's sister teach the tenant's children to read and write at Pemberley School.
In the first week of November, Lizzy hosted the first dinner at Pemberley with the Elliots and Sandstone's new tenants, the Keryls. The Keryls were a married couple with two children, a 6-year-old boy, and a 2-year-old girl.
During dinner, Robert Elliot sat next to Mary and they talked about Pemberley School and the charities she did with Georgiana, and his work as a vicar in Kympton. He also asked her about Jane, but over the months his interest in her had faded. Jason Elliot was lucky enough to sit next to Georgiana and talk to her. He was very impressed with her, not only because she had turned into a very pretty lady but also because she was intelligent and sweet…
"I didn't get a chance to congratulate you on how well you played the piano at your brother's wedding. You complement very well playing the piano with Miss Bennet."
"Thank you very much. We are used to playing together and we wanted to surprise my brother. Do you like to listen to music?"
"Yes, I like it very much. But unfortunately, my mother has arthritis and doesn't play the piano anymore. She was a very good pianist and played almost every day."
"Your mother told me that she misses playing the piano, and I understand her perfectly. The same would happen to me if I couldn't play the piano." she smiled slightly, "Who is your favorite composer?"
"Ummm, Mozart and I really like Symphony N° 40."
Georgiana started to laugh and Mr. Elliot looked at her curiously.
"I'm not laughing at you, Mr. Elliot… Symphony N° 40 is my brother's favorite symphony. Elizabeth plays it almost every day for him."
"Your brother has very good taste." He smiled, "Could you play it for me today, Miss Darcy?"
Georgiana nodded, "Gladly, it's an easy request since I can play it from memory. In addition, it is planned to end the evening with a small concert."
At that moment, they were served a rich apple dessert with cream.
"This dessert is delicious, congratulate the cook for me."
"This is my brother's favorite dessert. You have a lot in common with him, Mr. Elliot."
"I'm glad you think so since your brother is considered an excellent master and is well-liked in the surrounding area." He smiled, "I admire your brother. He had to take over Pemberley when he was only 23 years old and you were still very young. I am twenty-eight, my estate is smaller than Pemberley, I have help from my father and even my mother, and yet sometimes I feel overwhelmed."
"My brother was also overwhelmed the first few years. I guess it's normal until you get used to it. Is your father feeling better?"
"Yes, it was just a scare. The doctor said it's important he stays calm and rests. It is important he doesn't worry about the problems of the estate…"
They continued to talk until the separation of the sexes and then Georgiana played the 40th symphony.

Two days later the invitation to Jane's wedding arrived and an express from Richard with the sad news that Anne was dying. The three Darcys with Mary, Mrs. Altman, and Johnny set off at once for Rosings. Mary also planned to go to London for a couple of days to attend Jane's wedding...
