25 Friendship (Reunion, Rosalee and Neesae)

a/n: Even the best of friends sometimes need to clear things up.

All the good things belong to Monolithsoft.

They left the skell with Frye and Carranza. The stasis bag needed charging whether it was empty or full, but especially if it was full. Rosalee leaned over Frye, whispering something that only he could hear, before walking away toward the lake.

Neesae trotted after. She was starting to simmer. She loved Rosalee with all her heart, but this mystery was getting on her nerves. This was all wrong. They should have called the medics already, and a new team could be replacing them within the hour. What was going on?

They stopped at the corner of the beach, an ictus in sight but far enough away that it wasn't agitated. Neesae lowered her weapon and looked down at Rosalee. "Ahem."

Rosalee twisted her neck a little, working out a little stiffness, and made a face at no one in particular. Then she asked Neesae what sounded more like a genuine question than an inspirational pep-talk. "We can do this, right?"

Neesae ignored the question and whatever it might mean. "Do I have to start pointing out the obvious?"

"Like what?"

"Like we have no business doing this and that Carranza deserves better..."

"... and a Ganglion infiltration ruined the medical supplies at a number of away stations."

"What?"

"That's why the city's running low. If we make a big deal about needing materials, they'll know they hurt us. One team, casually picking up a few materials, won't be easy to spot. Especially a bunch of no-names like us."

"Unless they try to pick us off, Rosalee!" Neesae flicked an errant braid off her shoulder. "That's why you're here, right? Protection?"

"Not from Ganglion. At least I hope not. Well, maybe a little. Mostly because the indigen have been acting weird and Feliciano is always a pain and we really only have a short window before the weather makes it impossible."

"What do you mean: acting weird?"

"Showing up at the wrong locations."

Neesae spun around to look at the back entrance of the ravine. "You think Feliciano might follow us out here?!"

"No, no, he was right where he always is. I think we're good. Look." Rosalee pointed out into the lake. A flutter of sparks off-shore broadened and a golden aquatic indigen surfaced. "That critter is just right too. I think we're okay. Just as long as we can handle the ictus with a two person team. I'm gonna ask you to be honest. Do you think we can do this?"

Neesae adjusted her grip on her rifle and tilted her head back proudly. "I'm not dumb enough to take on Feliciano, but we are plenty good enough to handle a scorpion or two."

a/n: Vilem, the Gold Scaled. Short because ahhhhh I had to go back and correct all the weaponry for these two. I HAVE A POST-IT NOTE WITH THEIR LAYOUTS ON MY COMPUTER AND I STILL MESSED UP.

Next up: More fight scenes. I promise to be done before the end of the month.
