It was going on three months since Jay had left to find himself again and while it was getting a little easier Hailey still struggled to come home to an empty apartment for the first few months she had taken to drinking but she knew that this couldn't go on much longer so lately she had been spending all her time at the district doing paperwork or whatever she could find to distract her from the constant ache Jays absence had left, It was why she found herself at the district long after the rest of the team had gone home she heard footsteps coming up the stairs of the bullpen, Your still here Hailey she heard Platt say I thought the team went home hours ago she asked They did but I had paperwork and stuff to catch up on Hailey replied, Platt, sighed I know what your doing Hailey your trying to distract yourself from acknowledging the fact that Jays gone for the next 6 months you know he wouldn't want you to do this to yourself the older women said Hailey sucked in a breath thinking back to a similar conversion she had with Jay a few months ago and how she promised him that she wouldnt work herself into the ground, Go home hailey work can wait platt urged the younger women.
Back at home, Hailey sat in front of her laptop and clicked the facetime video hoping that Jay would be up even though it was past midnight in Bolivia the call rang a few times and right as Hailey was about to end the call in defeat Jays sleepy face came up on the screen Hailey he asked in a sleepy voice is everything ok? He asked concern seeping into his voice Ya she replied I just needed to see your face she said he gave her a smile one that was reserved just for her Hows everything going over there are the recruits listening to you she asked Jays let out a light laugh before catching her up with all the latest going on with him and the recruits a few hours later they were both falling asleep I should probably go Jay said hesitantly I have to be up in a few hours to run drills Hailey sighed lightly and I have work in a few hours she said I love you and I'll be back soon I love you to Hailey replied.
Hailey lay in her bed wearing one of Jay's shirts and hugging his pillow something she had come to do it helped her get through the particularly lonely nights she closed her off but despite being exhausted sleep did not come easy to her.
