Another day in the Hidden Leaf Village for the two dragon slayers.
Shortly after they woke up, they were called to the Hokage's office, where Naruto, Sakura and Kakashi were also present.
Tsunade, entrusted them to be the bodyguards of a noble who was going to travel between countries and Wendy was determined to fulfill the mission without problems.
Several hours later, the five returned having accomplished their mission.
But it wasn't an easy mission, as several things happened.
The first was when they left the village ready to begin their journey.
After gathering everything they needed, the five gathered at the entrance to begin their journey.
"Alright girls, you know the drill." said Sakura preparing to carry Lapis like last time.
"Actually, I think I can go on my own." said Wendy, to the surprise of the others except for the jinchuriki.
"Are you sure? Remember that we go at a different pace." said Kakashi.
"No problem. Naruto has been helping me to develop a technique that makes me keep up with you." said Wendy.
"You did that?" asked Sakura to the jinchuriki confused and surprised.
"Yes and I must say she already handles it perfectly. She goes almost as fast as we do when we're in a hurry." said Naruto with a grin.
"Well, if you are so confident, no problem. Just let us know if you have any difficulties." said Kakashi feeling curious about how Wendy will have to keep up with them.
"Understood." said Wendy before she realized one thing and turned her gaze to the water dragon slayer. "Hey Lapis, why don't you let me give you a ride?"
"W-what?" asked Lapis blushing slightly. "Y-you want to take me?"
"Yes. But you don't have to accept, you can refuse if you want to." said Wendy kindly.
"O-Of course I'll accept, but only so I won't be a burden to Sakura all the time. And for the record, if anything happens to me it will be your fault, understood?" asked Lapis slightly blushing.
"Sounds good to me." said Wendy with a smile before leaning over, letting Lapis climb on top of her and wrap her arms around her neck. "Hold on tight."
"What do you take me for?" asked Lapis with a frown, but still blushing at the situation.
"OK. Ready everyone?" asked Kakashi as everyone got ready to start.
The three ninja started by hopping towards a branch before turning their gaze back to see what Wendy was going to do.
The sky dragon slayer held her position and then, a small blast of air was expelled from the soles of her feet, propelling her like a rocket towards where the others were.
Needless to say, the pink haired girl and the copycat ninja were surprised at that while Naruto laughed at their reaction.
"Haha. I told you she already handled it." said Naruto.
"Shall we continue?" asked Wendy before the four continued on their way, with Wendy propelling herself to jump from branch to branch at the same pace as the ninjas.
"I'm curious Wendy, how did you come to think of such a technique?" asked Kakashi.
"Well, it was when Naruto and I were training." said Wendy.
"So, where do you want to start?" asked Naruto.
"Well... I hadn't thought about it before." said Wendy before folding her arms and lowering her head as she thought. "I think I'd like to learn something that would help me keep up with the ninja. I wouldn't want to be a burden every time we go on a mission."
"I see. Well, as we told you, we use chakra to power our legs, but I don't know how we could apply that with your magic." said Naruto.
"I thought I could use Vernier to increase my speed, but doing that would use up a lot of magic and I'd be exhausted by the time I got there." said Wendy.
"Mmm. Hey, and isn't there anyone in your world that has any techniques to go faster?" asked Naruto.
Wendy got to thinking about that. Throughout her life, she met many people who were fast on their own. Jet because of his speed magic, Erza because of her strength, Lucy because of her spirit magic, and Natsu...
Just then, a light bulb went off in her mind.
"I've got it! I can do the same thing as Natsu!" said Wendy with a smile at the idea.
"Natsu? You mean the fire dragon slayer that belongs to the same guild as you?" asked Naruto remembering the dragon slayers explanation.
"Yes. You see, what he does is to expel fire from the sole of his feet to increase his speed or even fly." said Wendy.
"And since he's a dragon slayer like you, you could use something similar with the wind to do the same thing. What a good idea!" said Naruto with a smile.
"There were a couple of funny stumbles in the beginning, but in the end, she managed to know how to handle it." said Naruto finishing the explanation.
"The stumbling thing wasn't funny." said Wendy with a pout.
"Well, I would have liked to have seen them." muttered Lapis with a slight smile.
"I understand. It's a creative way to use your power for this." said Sakura giving the sky dragon slayer a smile.
"I think so too." said Wendy.
"Good. Let's not waste any time. Let's keep going." said Kakashi before he and the others picked up the pace.
Another thing that happened was during the mission.
After a long journey, along with a small accident on Wendy's landing attempt, which ended with the two dragon slayers falling on their asses, they went to meet the nobleman and after a while of waiting, they began the journey.
For half of the journey, all was quiet, but then, raiders appeared who were after the riches the nobleman was carrying and the five of them set out to take them down.
It was during the fight that it happened.
Naruto had just taken down a couple of raiders with the help of his clones, but then, he turned around to see three raiders charging towards him. However, Naruto gave them a toothy grin as he thought of a great way to take them down.
He clapped his hands together as he gestured with his hands before taking a deep breath.
"Wind Style: Dragon Breath!" shouted Naruto giving such a powerful puff that it sent the raiders flying until they hit a tree, being knocked down in the process.
Just as they knocked down the last of the assailants, the two ninjas looked at Naruto with wide eyes.
"Naruto, since when do you know how to use another wind jutsu!" asked Sakura in shock.
"Hehe. That was thanks to Wendy." said Naruto rubbing the back of his neck.
"I thought you were helping train Wendy." said Lapis.
"That's right, but when I found out that Naruto had the same element as me and didn't know many wind jutsu, I decided to help him with that in exchange for him helping me with mine." said Wendy.
"So, it's a mutual training." said Kakashi understanding the situation.
"Yes and I must admit that it took me a lot to understand it." said Naruto remembering how he learned that technique.
"Tell me, Naruto, how were you able to create that wind jutsu you know?" asked Wendy wanting to get as much information as possible to help her friend.
"Well you see, it consists, not only in manipulating chakra, but also in transforming the nature of chakra." said Naruto remembering what he learned from Kakashi.
"It sounds complicated." said Wendy.
"You can't even imagine. It took me months and many clones to learn it." said Naruto.
"Clones?" asked Wendy confused.
"It turns out that one of the advantages of the shadow clone jutsu is that all the experience the clones have is passed directly to me as soon as they disappear. That way, whatever one was learning, I was learning as well." said Naruto.
"Sounds like a very useful thing to do." said Wendy.
"Yeah, but I don't think that's going to do me any good right now. Hey, how exactly do your magic attacks work?"
"Well, what I do is I use the air around me mixed with magic particles and that's when I launch my attacks." said Wendy giving her best explanation.
"But we don't have magic particles here. Just normal air." said Naruto.
"What if we change that?" asked Wendy with an idea in mind.
"What do you mean?" asked Naruto.
"What if you try to release some of your chakra to mix it with the air? That way, you would only have to concentrate on modifying the chakra that being mixed with the air, it will be like modifying the air itself." said Wendy.
"Wow. I would never have thought of something like that. You're very clever, Wendy." said Naruto patting her head.
"T-Thank you." said Wendy slightly blushing at the compliment.
"Well then, there's only one thing left to do." said Naruto before gesturing with his hands, causing several clones to appear around him in bursts of smoke. "Time to train!"
"It was very hard and cost me a lot of clones, but in the end, I managed to understand the right amount of chakra to release in order to perform the jutsu." said Naruto.
"It's certainly an original way to use chakra nature transformation and chakra modification. I'm surprised even I didn't think of it." said Kakashi.
"You're a lot smarter than I thought." said Sakura to Wendy, who blushed quite a bit at the compliment.
"I-it was nothing." said Wendy.
After that, they continued escorting the nobleman until they reached their destination and once they had confirmation that they had completed their mission, they returned to the village.
Finally, after reporting everything that had happened in the mission to Tsunade, who was surprised by Wendy and Naruto's new techniques, the five went their separate ways, although the jinchuriki and the sky dragon slayer left to continue their training, although later, Wendy had to leave to continue her medical training.
