Chapter Two
Galalaea appeared in Arlean's room in the castle of Gondor.
"Galalaea!" Arlean cried, surprised. "I don't mean to sound rude, but what are you doing here?"
"I ran away," Galalaea said simply, "From my mother."
"Why'd you come here?" Arlean asked her, putting her sword (which she had been polishing) aside. "Why didn't you go visit Eowyn or someone?"
"Mother would find out. And Eowyn would send me home immediately. You KNOW that, Arlean."
"What about MY mother? She would send you home immediately, don't you think?" Arlean was amazed at what she though was Galalaea's stupidity.
"I can always threaten to make her immortal or something like that," Galalaea said, "And anyway, she doesn't have to know."
There was a knock on the door. "Know what?" A voice called.
"Hide!" Arlean whispered.
Galalaea snapped her fingers, and vanished as Arwen opened the door. "I could have sworn I heard someone talking in here."
"No!" Arlean said hurriedly. "I mean. Just me."
Arwen nodded. "Okay then." But she looked in the closet anyway. When she was satisfied that no one was hiding in there, she bent down and checked under the bed. "Hello, Galalaea," she drawled, sounding very unlike herself.
Galalaea was hiding under the bed. She waved to Arwen. "Hello, niece!" She said meekly.
"Get out," Arwen said, pulling Galalaea out from under the bed. "I'm telling your mother."
"No!" Galalaea cried. "Please no, Arwen!"
Arwen began to speak: "I won't. Not for a little bit. I know you haven't done this in a while, but whatever you do, don't say-"
"Oh, sorrow! Oh, misery!"
