The two hobbits stood, frozen with shock, a look of desolation on their faces. Gollum scrambled up the pile of rocks blocking the entrance to the tunnel - the hobbit's last hope of getting into Mordor. He pushed some of the debris aside.
'Blocked.'
Sam came out of his trance. 'What do mean blocked! I thought you said you came this way!'
'Yes, yes we did. But no stones then, no stones for Sméagol.'
Sam still didn't look convinced. He turned to Frodo who was still standing there, staring at the rockslide.
'What do we do now? The gate is guarded and now we come to this.'
Frodo shut his eyes in despair. Sam had said it all. What were they going to do? He sighed.
'We will camp here tonight. We'll be able to think more clearly in the morning.'
The three figures huddled around a small fire in the growing dark. Gollum poked it with a stick, ignoring Sam's scowl. Suddenly, Sam looked up.
'I think I've got it', he said, his face brightening with excitement, 'I think I know how we can get into Mordor.'
Shagrat scratched the welt on his forearm. Guarding the gate of Mordor wasn't all as exciting as it might seem. Usually one look at the gate scared all potential attackers off. He yawned, his eyes drooping as he surveyed his comrades. They didn't look much better. The sudden knock on the door made him jump and pull himself to attention. Grunting he opened the peephole in the door and squinted through it. He looked down in mild surprise at the small figure in a striped uniform outside, carrying a box.
'Yeah?' He grunted, watching with amusement as the blue-eyed midget flinched at the sound of his voice. A jaunty grin appeared on the little fellow's face
'Pizza' he said.
