"More of the Conversation"
By Code Breaker
"So, you believe in small moments?"
"Yeah, seeing that how I often live my life at times. Just small moments."
"Wow, Jacob, it's a miracle that someone can do that."
"Well, seeing how the only small moments I have are with my family and friends, Chiana, they're the only thing I have right now."
"Not true. You have us here on Moya. I mean, we're in debt to you."
"Chi, you guys save each other more times that I have just during this one thing. I kind of doubt that debt is worth anything."
"It's worth it to me."
"Um... I don't know how to even respond to that."
"Do you have girlfriend back home?"
"Please, Pip, I'm a geek. Geeks like me NEVER get a girl."
"You're joking, right? The females of your species should be crawling all over you."
"Unfortunately, smart doesn't make you cool. Besides, the only girls I have interest in are either taken or don't know I exist. Sometimes it's both."
"That sounds a bit sad."
"It is. But that was how the social order of my life back home works."
"Are you interested in anyone here?"
"I can't answer that."
"Why not?"
"Because I know that the answer would seem like a chain reaction, just like how my appearance was."
"You don't have any confidence in yourself."
"No. It's nothing like that. I'm trying to adjust to change. I mean, I used to be one of these kids who knew where his spot was in the high school social order and what his life was going to be after the last year was up. But then I changed."
"When did you change?"
"The moment I met you, in fact. You are the kind of person I always wanted to be. Someone who could follow through on a choice and not have to worry about the consequences of that choice. Someone who isn't afraid to tap dance on a landmine and not even care of the possible results."
"Well, it's good to know that I've had some kind of influence on you."
"More than you'll ever know, Chiana. More than you'll ever know..."
