I Still Love You

Remus Lupin walked blindly toward Hagrid's hut. He needed someone to talk to. About Lily Evans. About how his best friend James Potter had stolen her away from him in one simple game of spin the bottle. He and Lily had been going together for a year. Then in their seventh year James had kissed her during an innocent game of spin the bottle and Lily had fallen in love with him. Tears sprang to Remus's eyes as he thought about it. The wind blew them away, leaving his pale cheeks a rosy pink. He opened the door of the hut to see Lily, drinking tea with Hagrid.
"Lily," he whispered. She carried her tea cup to the sink and fastened her cloak.
"I need to get back to the castle. Thank you Hagrid," she said, brushing past Remus.
"Anytime Lily. Hello Remus!" Hagrid greeted warmly. "Would you like some tea?"
"No thanks Hagrid, I was actually looking for Lily." Remus felt the lie burn in his mouth, but knew he had to face her sometime.
"You were?" she asked suspiciously. They hadn't had a decent conversation since their breakup three months before.
"Yes. I'll walk you!" he offered. She smiled; Remus had always been a charmer. James didn't do the things that Remus did: walking her to her dorm, pulling out her chair, opening the door, hugging her when she got a good grade in class. No James did those things occasionally, but he gave more kisses and presents.
As they walked to the castle Remus couldn't help notice how beautiful Lily was. Her red hair flowed gracefully down her shoulders and those green eyes glowed magnificently. It was all he could do to stop himself from grabbing her and kissing her right there on the spot.
"I miss you," he whispered. Lily looked up at him, tears in her eyes.
"I miss you too."
"Lily, why can't we just be together? I love you so much."
Lily began to cry softly and without thinking Remus put his arms around her.
"I have James now. I love him Remus. I can't blow it with him the way I did with you." There was a sound of regret in her voice. As Remus pulled her closer it began to rain softly.
"We should go inside. I wouldn't want you getting sick," he said protectively. Lily smiled against his chest.
"I don't care because I'm with you," she said, pushing James out of her mind. He would never know. She leaned up and kissed Remus softly on the lips. He felt a burning passion in him and kissed her back, the rain from his face falling on hers.
"I still love you," she whispered, gulping down the rain. Remus couldn't tell whether she was crying or if her face was just wet. Her thick red hair was wet and stringy and her robes were plastered to her body.
"Let's get inside."
In Lily's room she and Remus lie in bed, holding each other. Their robes were hanging by the window, drying.
James Potter walked into the seventh year girl's dorms, about to give Lily her anniversary present. He quietly crept in, wanting to surprise her. Her hangings were drawn and he figured she was just napping. Peeking through the curtains he saw her and Remus holding each other and dressed in nothing but their underclothes. Quietly he slipped away, leaving them alone, just realizing how much they still loved each other.
A/N: I'll be updating my other series soon, I'm just experiencing writer's block.
