Renee's Power: Holding Back

*2020*
Peruru kneeled down next to an unconscious woman, her pink hair flowing all around her closed eyes."Rini?! Rini, wake up!" He took the woman's head in her lap. A cut dashed across her forehead. He wiped the blood away, only to see it was a very deep gash.
Peruru looked around, desperately. There was only rubble around them. From far away, he heard a girl's wailing.
"Renee! Come over here!" The crying stopped and footsteps were heard.
"What- what happened?" Peruru shook his head.
"Quick, transform and use your healing touch on your mother!" He yelled.
"I can't! I... I can't!" The girl cried this over and over, sitting down on the ground, crying.

Renee sat down on her bed, surrounded by her friends, Sara and Maria.
"Alright, we did that." Maria said with a giggle.
"Yea, there's no way I'm gonna ever pick dare when you ask me, Maria." Sara said. Renee sighed. Surprise birthday parties, or any parties for that thing, weren't really her thing, but it was a surprise, and she had to smile and play along like everything was fine and that she loved having all her "friends" over to gossip and chat about boys.
"... Don't you think, Renee?" Maria asked.
"What?" Renee popped her head up. "Oh. Um..."
"Oh, of course she does!" Sara said, laughing out loud. Renee fake laughed and nodded, a sweat drop appearing over the back of her head.
"Um, yea! Of course!" She put her hand on the back of her head. "Um.. How about you, Sara?"
"Do you even have to ask?" Sara said with a "Who-are-you-again?" look on her face.
Kinda. Renee thought to her self. "I'm going... to... I'll be back." She fake giggled again and left the room. "Phew!" She spotted her mother and father sitting on the den's couch, watching a movie. "Mom, did you have to invite all of my... ahem... friends... over to hang out with me? I mean, it's my birthday for goodness sakes! Do you have to put me through such torture?" Peruru and Rini laughed.
"We didn't know it would be such a hassle for you." Peruru said between laughs. Renee couldn't help but laugh at her parents.
"Well, maybe you should have known me better." The twelve-year-old stuck her tongue out at her parents. She ran over and jumped on her mom's lap. "I love you guys. Even if this party does kinda stink."
