Sorata, I'm sorry. Arashi whispered. But there is no way to make everyone happy
She jumped over the roofs, searching for the one person she believed could make things right again. After a while she stopped and took a moment to breath.
Aren't you scared of coming here all alone? Fuuma asked, suddenly appearing from the shadows.
Arashi didn't even flinch.
She said. You make wishes come true, don't you?
Fuuma smiled cheerfully.
You are the first one who figured this out! Very good!
Aren't you going to ask me what I want?
Alright. What do you want?
Make my wish reality. Arashi said. Isn't Kamui supposed to have the power of God? Change destiny for me, if you really have that power.
Do you think I'm some kind of good fairy you can come and ask favors of?
No, I know how dangerous you are. But don't believe I haven't thought this over. Arashi said. My powers are gone, and I can't protect my wish anymore.
Fuuma nodded.
I can make you wish come true.
Do you know what I want?
Of course I know. Fuuma said. Your want to protect your own happiness.
It sounds so selfish when you say it.. Arashi sighted.
Is it better to die for a person, even though that person never asked for it? Fuuma asked.
He is a much better person than me! Arashi protested. I don't deserve him
Tell me, do you love him?
More than anything. Arashi admitted. But I couldn't stay with him, I couldn't. Not when he already had decided to die for me. It's selfish, but I wouldn't want to live if he died protecting me. And then his sacrifice would been for nothing..
What to you expect me to do? Fuuma asked.
I don't know, aren't you the expert on wishes?
Fuuma smiled, friendly this time. For a moment he reminded her of Sorata.
I can promise you one thing. He wont die before the Promised Day. That is the best I can do.
Then at least he is safe.. Arashi sighted.
Don't be sad. Fuuma said, and this time he really did look like Sorata. I promised you happiness, didn't I?
Arashi said.
Sorata, or was it Fuuma?, put his arms around her and kissed her.
Sorata does love you, you know that right?
Arashi smiled, both of genuine happiness and to hide her confusion. Hadn't she talked to Fuuma just a moment ago? It was suddenly so hard to think
Subaru studied the scene from distance enough to not be noticed. He saw Fuuma kiss Arashi, and then suddenly smash his hand though her chest. Arashi fell with a smile.
That was enough to break Subaru's apathy, and he ran towards them.
What did you do? He asked Fuuma.
Fuuma looked down at Arashi's body, seemingly sad.
It was her wish.
Does everyone of us wish to die? Subaru didn't even tried to hide the bitterness in his voice.
Arashi simply wished to be happy. Fuuma said.
I don't understand. Subaru said. If that is true, why did you kill her?
Because she couldn't be happy with Sorata knowing she would cause his death. And she couldn't be happy without him either. In that moment, knowing that he loved her and that she had saved him, she was happy. But after that, it would only have became worse. Do you understand?
Subaru slowly nodded.
But she was wrong. It's wrong to die for someone and leave that person behind.
You're right. Fuuma agreed. But she wanted her own happiness, not Sorata's.
And there is no way to make everyone happy Subaru sighted. I, if someone, should know that.
