Him
Um, I don't write a lot of poetry. Plus I wrote this at about 2am. lol, yeah, so if it really is as bad as I think it is, then that's why.
Sunshine poured through the window brightly
When she received the dreadful news.
The man whom she'd held so close in her heart
Had paid his final dues.
He died that sunny winter day,
While fighting bravely for his country.
He courageously saved another man's life,
Making his own existence nothing more than paltry.
She received the news from her new roommate,
Who also had similar feelings for the hero.
Though Chloe was certain she loved him more,
She did not want to appear so shallow.
To express her most secret of feelings,
Chloe sat down with some paper.
She began to write a letter in fear
That her memories would vanish like vapour.
The letter began with "To whom it may concern",
Though she knew whom it really was for.
Chloe never told him how she truly felt,
And now life had completely shut the door.
He would never know about her secret feelings
And wishes that he'd someday ask her out.
But the chances of that were gone forever
And Chloe never thought she could do without.
Included in the letter were her feelings
Of jealousy, lust, hate, and desire.
For the things that she wanted most in her life
Always seemed to turn, and then backfire.
The words in the letter became heated and fiery
As Chloe spoke of the ones she wrongfully trusted
With things so fragile, such as love and friendship
She felt that her time on them was wasted.
The story in her letter returned, then,
Back to the one it all began with.
The one who she continued to love and adore
Although his life now was no more than a myth.
It was because of him that Chloe went on,
Trying to live a life free of regret.
His memory lived on forever in her heart,
And through every day, and every sunset.
