The ripe dew dripped off his face. Shaking himself out of an unrestful sleep, Aragorn slowly sat up. He sensed something was near.
Close by, the rest of the fellowship was asleep. Legolas lay with his eyes open, in a dream world, which is how elves rest. Suddenly, he jerked up. He noticed that Aragorn was now wide awake, holding very still as if he were a statue.
"You feel it too," the elf stated.
"Yes, something is out there," Aragorn answered.
"We should not have stopped here. I knew it wasn't safe."
Suddenly, Boromir stepped out of the shadows near the spot where Frodo lay asleep with the ring grasped tightly in his hand.
"Boromir!" Aragorn shouted. "What are you doing?"
"Nothing. I was just, scouting around. I thought I heard something," the proud, Gondorian answered nervously. "It was nothing. I'm going to get some rest now. Good night."
Boromir layed down and closed his eyes, but the elf and the human remained wide awake for the rest of the night, aware the the ring of power had begun its mischief.
