The Last Sorrow of Arwen Evenstar
The elf-maiden stood in the midst of a forest, her black hair falling like a vale down past her waist. The woods around her streamed with golden sunlight, which lit up her pale skin, surrounding her with a halo of light. But the light was dimming, so very quickly.
The elf stood silently, silver tears pouring from her dark eyes.
Her eyes had not always been dark. Once, they had been blue; the lightest blue of summer skies. But now they were dark. Darker than ebony, darker than shadow itself. Her eyes, they were like that of the dead; shifting and lifeless, screaming out with silent agony and sorrow. The elf-maiden lifted her eyes to the darkening sky, and her soul gave up. She lay down on the winter's green grass, and wept in despair. For her, the darkness had won. She stopped breathing, and went cold.
In life, she had always glowed with the natural light of the elves. Now she lay in a shadow of darkness, from which she would never wake.
