The dark air lay over the city, foreboding and dim.

Nothing was there, everyone was inside keeping away from the cold that collected within their bones, but nothing could keep the cold from seeping to their souls.

Everything was just dark.

No hope or ray of light to save them. Nothing.

Innocence had been long since lost. And She lay bleeding in the street, alone and unloved.

She looked like an angel, her hair, the color of her blood, spread around her in a halo. Her face was serene, like she had known peace that she had not acquired in life would be found in death.

Sirens were heard in the background, and the ones who were to make the difference's, the ones who changed lives, the angels given human life were the ones to go first. The world no longer wanted them, or the light they brought, it relished the darkness of the night.

And so slowly, a candle flickered out, never to be relit again.

And no one would question why she died, only hoping the same fate was not in store for them.

All it takes is a single gun shot, and it does not matter if you were a goddess in another world, it is the testimony of humanity's vile and wretched nature.

UPDATE: May 24, 2003

Ok some of the reviewer's were confused (I can understand because I re-read and I was like 'What the hell? What was I thinking?'

Ok to make things clear, Hikaru was the one who was shot, and I have two obscure things that should have signified it but I guess I wasn't clear enough:

"......She looked like an angel, her hair, the color of her blood, spread around her in a halo..."

Hikaru has red hair and I have heard it called many times 'blood red'.

"...does not matter if you were a goddess in another world..." Hikaru became the Pillar, and that is the equivalant to a goddess, because the entire world's fate is held within their prayer.

I hope that makes things easier for those that were confused!
