chloe/pete, spoilers for second season
Summary: Chloe doesn't want Pete to fall into the same pattern she did.
"Pete? You got a minute?" Chloe asked as Pete began packing up his backpack.
"Speak, I am listening." He replied, shuffling the papers on his desk, trying to find his homework.
"I'm worried about you." Chloe replied.
"What are you talking about?" Pete asked, looking up at her and noticing the genuine concern in her face.
"I feel so stupid to say this, but I think you're falling in the same pattern I did with Clark. It may be different, since you're both guys but lately, all I've seen is him using you. Taking you on his little explorations, wrecking YOUR car---I don't want it to end up the same way it is with him and me now."
Chloe looked down at her keyboard as Pete crossed the office and put an arm around Chloe.
"Is this jealousy talking?" He asked gently. "You used to be the one he took on his adventures---" Pete mentally kicked himself when he saw the look on Chloe's face, but he knew they needed to discuss the changing roles they had in the relationship of the three.
"Some of it probably is" Chloe sighed, pondering her motives. She had been trying to avoid this feeling of not-so-great destiny for the trio for so long---
" But I know how hard it can be, because you want to help him, but then you start to feel like you're being taken advantage of, and it sucks and then there's a huge fight. I'm just trying to help you out---a forewarning." Chloe finished.
"I know how bad you've been hurting over him lately." Pete replied simply.
"I know you know. And I'm slowly getting over it. I just don't want you to get the same treatment I did."
"Dually noted, Chloe." Pete replied, dropping his hand from her back and grabbing his backpack and trotting back over to the blonde.
"How about a movie night? I think you need a lift." Pete asked Chloe while he thought to himself
'And so do I. I hate seeing Clark's affect on you---'
"Josh Hartnett?" Chloe bargained.
"Josh Hartnett and an action flick?"
"It's a deal. I'll call my dad in the car. Let's go." Chloe said, willing looping her arm through Pete's as he told a joke, sending her giggling as she locked the door and all the way down the hall.
