A Lovely Shade Of Black
Everything was normal-well normal for Cook County General that is!
"Chuny"Susan called," I need you to see that boy in exam 1" Chuny nodded and walked off.
'Only a half hour left' thought Susan. Suddenly a crash made her jump and she heard shouting from curtain 2.
"Hey what's going on in there?" Susan asked, walking towards the cubicle. The shouting had stopped and she could hear Abby. She pulled back the curtain.
Abby was on the floor comforting a young woman. The young woman who was only about 17 or 18 was sobbing. Abby was trying her best to console her.
"It's ok sweetie" Abby soothed
"It-Its not fair"The woman sobbed
"I know" Abby replied, "I know"
Abby looked up and saw Susan.
"Look, Maria I have to go talk to the Doctor ok, but I'll be back to check on you-is that ok?"
Maria nodded. Abby helped her back onto the bed and closed the curtain behind her. They made they're way to the lounge.
"What happened-are you ok?"Susan asked
"Yeah"Abby replied, "she's just a bit messed up, she lost her baby a few hours ago"
"I'm not surprised she's upset poor thing-she's only young, but surely her family will help her through it"
"Her family are all dead, she's got no-one" Abby said quietly, trying to stop the tears that were already falling, but Susan had already noticed.
"Abby" she said softly, clearly concerned
"Umm" sniffed Abby.
"What's wrong, you don't usually get so hung up on patients"
"I am not hung up on any patient," Abby cried in a tone Susan had never heard before.
"Ok then, are you gonna tell me what's wrong?"
"Nothings wrong" Abby said, trying to hold back more tears
"Abby look, I know you and I know there's something wrong and if you're not going to tell me then I'll find out for myself"
Abby mumbled something barely audible
"What-what did you say?" Susan asked
