Is this total crap? Is it positively amazing? Tell me!
Sydney took a gummy worm out of the box and popped it into her mouth. The movie hadn't even started, and the box was half gone. It didn't matter. After the previews, she was just going to leave. The only reason that she even bought the gummy worms was to give the appearance that she was staying. The theater was practically empty. It was just Sydney, and a teenage couple near the front. But a light from the lobby shone through as someone entered the theater. She smiled, but she couldn't show it. Not that it mattered anyway. The couple was only concentrating on each other. She pretended not to notice as Vaughn took the seat directly behind her in the back row.
"Hey." His voice whispered in her ear.
"Hey." Was her response. They couldn't know each other, but they did.
"I got the fake code. We'll do a drop at the airport like normal."
"Ok." Sydney took the envelope with the codes she was to give to SD-6 that he slid down her shoulder. Quietly, as the previews were ending, she opened the envelope a little. Seeing that they were there, she stood up to leave, but Vaughn's warm hand gently pushed her back into her seat.
"Stay, I heard that this was a good movie." He said. Sydney could feel him lean forward to get closer to her.
She smiled, and leaned back into her chair again. To her, this was as close to a date as they could get. Both of them, sitting in a dark theater, watching all of the same movie. There was only one problem. Vaughn sat one row behind her, and one seat to her left. He could see her, but she couldn't see him. Her shoulder itched so she put her hand up to relive the urge. Before pulling it down into her lap, Sydney paused. She soon felt the warmth of someone else's hand warm her own. She smiled, as Vaughn sqeased her hand. She rested it on her shoulder.
As the movie ended, he leaned over and whispered in her ear. "I'll let you pick the movie next time. And next time we won't have to talk through the previews." Vaughn got up and left. Sydney smiled as she watched his retreating back.
"Next time we will be able to sit next to each other." She whispered.
Fin.
