She was strapped down again by the cold metal clamps. She felt the
needle go in her arm and she tried to scream. Revenge! No sound came out
but her eyes flashed open. Dr. Kalden stood over her with a notebook in
hand. His eyes expressed no emotion as they stared down at her. She saw his
lips move as he spoke to the man next to him, but she could no longer
hear. Images started to crowd her brain as they hooked electrodes up to her
head. She glared into his eyes one more time before blacking out. Revenge.
Liana crept through the depths of London. The streets were cracked and piled full of rubble. The tripped on a chunk of rock and bit her lip, holding back a curse. She must stay silent. Within five minutes she reached a smashed building that had one dorway left standing. She went inside, into a tiny room with walls made of collapsed concrete. A shiver crept through her spine as she saw the dark figure that stood in the corner. "Do you have the disk?" he asked. Liana nodded and handed it to him. In return he handed her two credits. She pocketed them quickly and stared back at him waited for her next assignment. Liana needed the jobs that he gave her so that she could get credits to feed herself and stay alive. This time though, the cloaked figure turned and started to leave the building. "Wait!" she called. "Can't I get another assignment? Are we through working together?" She could feel him snicker but she kept her face impassive. "I do have another assignment," he said, "but it is to complex for street scum like yourself. We are through. You will never see me again."
She woke up on the table again and strapped down also. Dr. Kalden looked down at her.
