The entire Area 51 control run fell silent at these words.
This was it. If Will couldn't sync with unit 04, everything would be wasted.
"Will, you may begin synchronization with unit 04."
"Yes, sir."
As Will began to sync with unit 04, he feel himself getting lighter and lighter. The entry plug began to fill with LCL. Will now began what he had been trained all his life to do, synchronize with Evangelion.
"Sync ratio is holding at 80%!""The power readings are incredible! It seems that the S2^X is working at 200% percent!"
Will could hear the techs yelling through his intercom system, but he didn't care. He turned off the radio and began to focus on more important matters. It was then that he felt a presence in the entry plug. He knew it was unit 04.
'You hate me don't you?'

'Please don't. I never meant to be here. But I never had a choice. I know you can hear me. It would make both of us feel better, if you responded.'
*growl*
'That's better. Besides why DO you hate me? I could never do anything to you. I WOULDN'T do anything to you.'
'But the others would.'
Will was stunned. He had expected at least a growl, but not a full sentence. He decided to know more. If he could win this thing's friendship, I could get them both away. Get them free, away form NERV, away from war with the Angels, away from life.
'You can speak.'
'Of course I can. We Evangelions aren't the mindless drones you humans put us out to be.'
'How did you know there are more Evas?'
Unit 04 was about to answer when the techs suddenly went wild. The S2^X was destabilizing and began to generate an anti-AT field which in five minutes would annihilate the entire base.
'This is not good.'
'Says you. Now because you humans tried to merge a human S2^ and an angel one, it's causing a Dyrac shift.'
'A Dyrac what?'
'Nevermind. Well it was nice knowing 'ya kid. If we ever get out of mess, I'll be sure to answer all your questions.'
'Really? I was gonna give you big hug.'
Suddenly, Will felt like he was being ripped apart. He thought this was the end. No, He knew it was the end.
