Forever.
Disclaimer: I don't own Harry Potter or anything related to him.
The small graveyard was not hard to get lost in, but that was how Hermione felt. Lost, lost in sorrow and grief. A sorrow that could never be lifted. She knelt on the grave, tears pouring down her face as she read the name carved into the headstone in elegant letters. Ron Weasley. It had been three months now since he had gone. gone away forever, lost in the endless mist of death. She had cried remembering him. Ron, her friend her partner, her lover. Everything had dissolved when he died, everything real at least. Now Hermione was lost in a fantasy world where everything was right, and Ron was not dead.
~~*Flashback*~~
"Ron, please. Don't go" she pleaded, hanging on to his arm to try and stop him "Its dangerous out there! You could get killed!". "Hermione you have to understand. Besides Harry I'm the only one strong enough to face Voldemort. Hermione I have to go." . "No Ron please. Please!" she loved him so much she couldn't let him risk his life like this. "Hermione I have to" and with that he left, and never came home.
~~*End Flashback*~~
Her tears were silent, for she had long lost her voice to endless sobs. Feeling nothing but sorrow and grief. She held her hands to her face, yet they did not slow the endless flow of tears. Life had no meaning to her anymore, for her only thoughts were about him
~~*Flashback*~~
"Hermione, I'm so, so sorry" Harry's face was streaked with tear tracks as he struggled to tell her. "Hermione, Ron...Ron...sacrificed himself. To...to save me.". "No!" she screamed "No its not true! He's not gone! He's still here!". "Hermione, face it he's gone" he said trying to make her see reason. "No...no...its not true" she sobbed.
~~*End Flashback*~~
She wasn't aware of anything except the pain. Pain at losing Ron, and pain at loosing herself, loosing herself to the thoughts of sorrow that slowly drifted across her mind. She was far past the point where anyone could help her, to far lost in her own mind for anyone to find her, to lost in grief to care.
~~*Flashback*~~
"Hey 'Mione I got something for you" Ron whispered lying back on the grass next to her. "Mmmmm?" she snuggled closer to him, enjoying the feel of his body pressed against hers. This was the perfect time for them, just lying in the grass on the Hogwarts grounds, kissing and talking. "This. I got in Hogsmeade. Its supposed to symbolize true love" he said gently and held out his hand. Resting on it was a small rose quartz crystal cut into the shape of a heart. "I want you to have it. To show that our love is forever". "Oh Ron!" she answered happily "Thank you so much!". "I love you Hermione Granger" was all he said. Her reply was "I love you too Ronald Weasley".
~~*End Flashback*~~
Suddenly she spoke the first words she had in months "I love you Ron" and with that she lay down on the grave and fell asleep...forever.
And clutched tightly in her hand was a small rose quartz crystal, cut into the shape of a heart.
