Saving Love

I dived towards you as you fell backwards towards the cold stone of the mountain. I could smell the blood marking your enemy's defeat mingled with your own blood as I plucked you away from the ground and nestled you upright in my lap.
Why didn't you wait for me? I was so close if you had just waited a few seconds I would have been here. A white piece of cloth was nestled against the greys and reds. Kikyo. You tried to protect her didn't you? Why? You never really liked her. I could tell so why?
"Kagome?" your name fell from my lips and I watched as your eyes opened slowly. You tilted your head upwards towards me and smiled weakly.
"Kagome, what have you done?"
"I saved Kikyo. I couldn't let her be hurt. She's… She's…" you coughed and the smell of your blood became overpowering. I looked down to find your blood slowly staining my clothes darker.
A beating, it's slowing, your heart?
"Kagome!" I rubbed your back not knowing what else I should do. Your breathing was slowing down.
"She's behind the rock… alive." A peaceful expression was slowly settling over your face. Your beautiful eyes were staring up at me even as your eyelids lowered tiredly.
"KAGOME!" you jerked in my arms your eyes opening fully to stare into mine with innocent confusion.
"Didn't I do what you wanted?" you asked weakly your eyes conveying how heartbroken you felt over having failed me.
"Yes, no, Kagome, if you had just waited."
"It might have been too… late." Your eyes were masked with pain but you still spoke softly never mentioning how you felt. I noticed and felt like a fool sitting here talking to you while every breath you take jars your entire body.
"No, it wouldn't have. Kagome, you must stay awake. You must. We can go to Kaede. She'll heal you. Just stay awake!"
"I'll be fine. Look, look at how beautiful the sky is? Don't you think it's beautiful?"
I didn't want to look up. I didn't want this to happen! Any of this! It shouldn't have been this way.
"Inuyasha. I-I," you started to cough again tears streaming from the intensity, "love you… Inuyasha. Inu-"
Your voice just stopped in the middle of my name you fell limp in my arms and I could feel my senses real as the picked out the very faint beating of your heart. And then I screamed, and screamed. Your hand read up and tweaked one of my ears and I screamed louder. For help from anyone. Someone, please, come help her. Please save the women I love. Please…
AN: I know it's short. It's beyond short. But *grins* now that you went all the way through it I'm here to tell you this was my first Inuyasha fic! Amazing, ain't it? So if you find the characters a little off then do tell me. I'm trying but I've only seen a few of the episodes. And then what I've read from Fanfictions. So tell me what you think!
Oh and one more thing the title can mean two different things. So just ignore it if you really want to. It's just a last minute title. So no need to worry!
