Disclaimer: I claim nothing. Tolkien is God. The song is based on "Brothers Under the Sun" from the Disney movie Spirit: Stallion of the Cimarron.

Legolas sat in a tree, thinking about the day's events. In truth, it had been quite uneventful. Boating was a peaceful way to travel, and they had not been bothered yet by the enemy. Upon leaving Lothlorien, they had travelled by boat the rest of the day, and had stopped to rest for atleast part of the night.

Legolas wished they could have stayed longer with the elves. He had missed being among his own kind and was comforted by Elfish presence in Lothlorien; for the first time since they had set out he hadn't felt the need to be alert the entire time. He had enjoyed talking with his old friend, Haldir, and they had spent much of their visit reminiscing about old times. Now the fellowship was on their own again, and Legolas sung sadly in a tree.

"I had a dream - of a far ancient forest.
I had a dream - of a pale morning sky.
I had a dream - that we flew on golden wings.
And we were the same - just the same - you and I.
Follow your heart - little child of the swift wind.
Follow the voice - that's calling you home.
Follow your dreams - but always, remember me
I am your brother - under the sun."

Aragorn walked under the tree and looked up at Legolas, the elf smiled down at him. Softly, their two voices--one light and musical, the other rough and deep--joined together.

"We are like birds of a feather,
We are two hearts joined together,
We will be forever as one,
My brother under the sun."

Aragorn stopped singing, but Legolas' clear voice continued, his spirit lifting.

"Wherever you hear - the wind in the treetops,
Wherever you see - the horses run,
Wherever you go - I'll be there beside you,
Cuz you are my brother - my brother under the sun."

Legolas jumped down from the tree, landing gently beside Aragorn. Aragorn slipped his arm around Legolas' waist and their voices rose together once more.

"We are like birds of a feather,
We are two hearts joined together,
We will be forever as one,
My brother under the sun."

Legolas put his arms around Aragorn and gave him a soft kiss. He didn't feel so lonely now, perhaps everything would turn out all right after all.
