Ginny strolled down the corridor towards Moaning Myrtle's bathroom. She and Myrtle had become very good friends after she had apologized for throwing Tom Riddle's diary at her.
Turning a corner she entered the bathroom looking around for Myrtle. Finding her crying on the floor in her stall, she rushed over to ask what had happened.
"Well," sniffed the ghost. "I was laying in the U-Bend when all the sudden a mirror fell on me! Someone threw a mirror at me! It's just like your first year... wahhh!" She pludged down into the toilet once more.
Ginny sighed and looked around for the mirror. Spotting it over in a corner, dripping wet, she raced over and cautiously picked it up.
It didn't look evil. It had a silver rim around the shiny oval middle and a beautifully carved butterfly on the small handle. Turning over the mirror she found black lettering encarved in the back.
Expiscor tui fidelis amor?
Ego reor secus.
Aspicio in ego ac ego fiendo verum.
Verum amor.
Ginny scanned the back and read the words below the passage. "Verum amor." Turning the mirror over she found herself looking at Draco Malfoy writing a letter to his mum.
"Ah! How'd he get in there?" Ginny thought stupidly. "Maybe it has something to do with the inscription... I'll find Mione. She'll probably know what it says!" Racing through the hallways she entered the Gryffindor Common Room finding the Dream Team over near the fireplace, Ron and Harry playing a game of wizarding chess (Ron was winning, of course) and Hermione reading a book (Prefects who Gained Power (she'd borrowed it from Percy))
"Hello Ginny." Hermione greeted peering over her book. "Oh, nice mirror, Gin! Where'd you get it?" Ginny waved hello to everyone and sat beside Hermione in a cozy crimson arm chair.
"This is what I came to find you for." Ginny started. "I went to visit Myrtle ---"
"Why'd you go visit that ol' crank?" Ron asked. "Checkmate." Ginny glared at her older brother.
"Honestly, Ron, you should know she's my friend." she turned back to Hermione. "Now anyways, Myrtle said someone had thrown this at her and then she went wailing down the U-Bend ---"
"She does that a lot, doesn't she?" Harry interrupted. Hermione rolled her eyes.
"Boys, stop interrupting!" she exclaimed. Taking the mirror from Ginny she inspected it. "Verum amor." she spoke. Turning the mirror over she turned very red.
"So, Mione... what does it do?" Ginny asked excitedly. Hermione blushed.
"Well, the encarving is in Latin. It says 'Think you know your true love? I think not. Look into me and I'll show you the truth.' My theory is by saying the two words underneath the passage 'Verum amor' which meanss 'True love' it'll show you what your soul mate is doing at the present time."
"So you saw Ron playing chess?" Harry asked slyly. Both Ron and Hermione blushed deeply and Hermione handed the mirror back to Ginny.
"Er, Gin, I'm going to go do my Divination homework now.." Hermione said, skivving out of the Common Room.
"She ran away." Ginny remarked. Ron rose an eyebrow.
"She said she's doing her Divination homework." he said.
"One problem, mate." Harry answered. "She doesn't take Divination."
