Rating: Pg-13 for a bit of Fluff involved.
Of course the Lyrics to Stand by Me are not mine, good gravy, it came long before me! Nope a brilliant man known as Ben E. King wrote it.Merry and Pippin meanwhile belong to JR Tolkien, another amazing man in history.
Things in this story that belong to me? There are None.

When the night has come
And the land is dark
And the moon is the only light we'll see,
Merry leaned closer to his cousin, enjoying his warmth under the thin blanket they were using as they peered up to the stars in distant wonder of the land's they had not yet seen. Not a word was spoken between the two of them as they gazed in each other's comfort.
No, I won't be afraid,
No, I won't be afraid,
Just as long as you stand,
Stand by me.
"Pip? Your trembling, what's wrong?"
"Nothing Merry"
"Maybe we should go inside-----"
"No stay here with me Merry, please?"
So darling, darling,
Stand by me.
Oh, stand by me.
Oh, stand,
Stand by me,
Stand by me.
Merry nodded, surprised at his outburst, hugged him closer.
"Always Pippin, I'll always be here for you, don't cry now, hush Pip, hush.."
If the sky that we look upon
Should tumble and fall
Or the mountains should crumble to the sea,
I won't cry, I won't cry,
No, I won't shed a tear,
Just as long as you stand,
Stand by me.
Pippin cuddled closer to his friend, the warmth then even before, holding tightly to Merry's chest, tears drying, and while listening to his heart beat watched a shooting star glaze the sky in a quick dash of light.
And darling, darling,
Stand by me.
Oh, stand by me.
Oh, stand now,
Stand by me,
Stand by me.
Soft whisper escaped Pippin's lips as he drifted off to sleep.
"I love you Merry."
As night turned to day, they slumbered together, hand in hand, arm in arm, best friends until the end of their days.
So darling, darling,
Stand by me.
Oh, stand by me.
Oh, stand,
Stand by me,
Stand by me---
