"No, don't die on me Rosie!" Samwise whispers in his dear wife's ear,
"Don't go where I can't follow!"
The year was 1482. Rosie was growing near death. Samwise Gamgee could do nothing but kneel by her and whisper in her ear.
"Sam, it is time for me to leave" Rosie said in almost a whisper that even Samwise could hardly understand.
Sam, sobbing, nods weakly and holds her hand more tightly, softly kissing it.
"Oh, my dear Rosie, please stay with me just a few minutes . . . please?"
Rose softly runs her thumb over Sam's hand.
"Sam, listen to me, my death will not be in vain. You will go over the sea to the undying lands. You will pass and be the last of the Ringbearers. You will see Frodo and Bilbo again! Do not trouble your heart over death. For it is only the beginning."
Rosie smiles weakly as the last of her strength leaves and quietly grows very still.
Sam had his eyes closed, expecting to hear more of Rosie. Slowly noticing the sudden silence of his wife, he opens his eyes, tears running down his cheeks.
"I will go to the undying lands" he finally speaks, "Will ye rest in peace, my dear wife"
Giving one last kiss on Rosie's forehead, he leaves her, to indeed, rest in sweet silent peace.
